ENCARTA – Career Counseling session at DPS Ranchi

Delhi Public School Ranchi in association with Psychographic Society, Ranchi. conducted an aptitude test as part of the Career Counseling Programme Encarta which started on 04.03.2016 . Students of class VIII wrote the test which is aimed that testing students aptitude potentiality with a different career options and work environments. These assignment tests are designed to discover different skills and talents of candidates. Career Aptitude Test is a psychometric test where in the student answers a set of questions that maps the inherent aptitude in him/her. This test would help to identify the core strength areas of the students on 6 dimensions- Numerical Ability, Reasoning Ability, Verbal Ability, Spatial Ability, Rapid Evaluation Ability and Cognitive Ability.

Psychologist Aditi Singh Sharma’s session on soft skills dealt with the ABC’s of the same. The attitude behavior and communication are the pillars on which a person’s soft skills rest. Behaviour is a function of attitude and communication and therefore, to be successful and exhibit successful behavior, the attitude and communication have to be effective, she added.

Dr. Ram Singh, Principal of DPS, Ranchi remarks that it is absolutely necessary to identify one’s interest in particular area because people whose interest matches with their occupation find a better deal of satisfaction in life.



True education encourages critical thinking and cultivates skills for a successful life and career, in keeping with this concept of education Delhi Public School organized special classes to enhance the personality of the children on 04-03-2016.

Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi strongly feels that such sessions are going to help the children to blossom as per their potential. It will help them to mould their personality and later they can excel in the field of their choice. Apart from academics they will learn the nuances of worldly life too. The career counseling session brought a fresh lease of life to the learners overburdened due to examination stress.

Shri Vikas Kumar Director Psychographic Society was the chief resource person. He spoke about ways and techniques to gear up for the competitive exams and also about a variety of other career options other than Engineering and Medicine. While speaking to the children he said that the true meaning of success is how much one is able to do as per his/her potential. Many other things like Need for information management and mind management, Goal setting & Goal re-setting, Concentration Development techniques were also discussed Ms. Aditi Sharma, Psychologist spoke about Soft Skill Development and how to connect classroom to career.

This was followed by a session conducted by Dr. Sanjay Jain Director MICA and Dr. Hemant Srivastava of IIM Indore which was designed to leverage General Knowledge and Intelligence. Children learnt how their brain functions and learns.

The children of classes VI to VIII attended this programme. Many of them came up with interesting queries related to concentration and career counseling. On the whole they were curious to know about new career choices and showed great enthusiasm for the session ENCARTA – 2016 which will go on till 15th of March 2016.



A great education begins with great experience

Starting school can be exciting for the tiny tots of class Prep and their parents. With an intension to make their school journey and exciting and happy experience D.P.S., Ranchi organised an ‘Introductory program’ for the parents in its school premises on 23rd February 2016. The welcome program was a unique one that brought together parents, teachers and children prepare for a fun filled and successful first year in school.

Speaking on the occasion Principal Dr. Ram Singh said ‘Introductory session in the school build mutual trust and confidence among the parents and teachers. The primary purpose behind the program was to allow the parents of new student’s ample opportunity to familiarize themselves with school campus and to understand the well crafted and mapped out academic and co-curricular activities of the school. He moreover said, ‘today’s children is tomorrows’ nation, students do pay a vital role in society and how a society is shaped generation after generations. The formative period of an individual is during the student phase and hence it is known to be the crucial time of life. Education is in fact character building in students. D.P.S. enables the students to understand within himself his strengths and freedom in his life.

The parents acknowledged and thanked the school for organizing such program to ease the anxiety of young parents and allay all the fostering doubts, they have regarding their children’s initial entry in the school.



National Safety Day at DPS Ranchi

National Safety Day Quiz competition was organized in Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 18th February, 2016 by Sail Safety Organization. Various schools of Ranchi are present with 21 teams of two participants.

An elimination round occurred in which teams had to answer 30 questions in 20 minutes. After this round, 6 teams were chosen, including two teams of DPS, Ranchi. Then the quiz began, with Mr. Suresh as the Quiz master. The first round was based on Home safety, and was successful in creating knowledge about the ways to prevent electric shocks and various mishaps caused due to electricity. The second round was to identify road signs and was quickly answered by all the teams. Audience questions were quickly answered by students of JVM, Shyamali and DAV Gandhinagar. The third round was all about the technology of 21st century. The fourth round was all about the child and women achievers and was dominated by DPS. The fifth round was all about banks.

Mr. Rajesh Choubey DGH, SAIL Safety Organisation announced the results and DPS Ranchi won by scoring 100 points. The quiz was very exciting and a tie breaker was held. At last, the principal of DPS, Ranchi Dr. Ram Singh enlightened the students. He was ready to promote quiz competitions and he was also grateful to SAIL as well as all the other schools present. He also spoke about the importance of quiz to develop a child’s character.


Principal of Eminent Schools, of Ranchi meet to Condole the death of Vinay Mahto

Principals of all the eminent schools of Ranchi had a condolence meeting on 07.02.2016 at Loyoyla Convent to condole the death of Vinay Mahto.

Vinay who was a student of Sapphire International School breathed his last day before yesterday. All the principals who were present in the meeting were of the opinion that it was really a matter of grave concern and everyone should stand together to bear with this unfortunate loss.

Dr. Ram Singh President of Sahodaya School complex and Principal of Delhi Public School, Ranchi said that this incident was definitely unfortunate but it should also be remembered that this should not be an issue of defame the entire education fraternity. He also conducted a special assembly in his school in which all the children prayed for the depart soul. It has also been urged by him that the security system should be tightened up even more and all the teachers and students have been instructed to be extra vigilant. In case of any doubt or abnormality the matter should be brought to the notice of the management immediately.


 Book Fair in the premises of Delhi Public School, Ranchi

A ‘Book Fair’ was held in the premises of Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 1st February 2016. The Principal of the School, Dr. Ram Singh inaugurated it. He emphasized that “Books are man’s best friend”. It is an integral part of a student’s life. Inculcating reading habits among the young ones should be the utmost priority of the teachers as well as the parents, because books provide us with a vast sea of knowledge and reading books helps us to develop good writing skills. The fair had a large array of books ranging from fiction to Non-fiction, Biographies, Autobiographies and Encyclopedias. There were books on various subjects, hobbies, creative activities etc.

The students of Classes Prep – VIII enthusiastically visited the Book Fair and purchased their favorite books.

When these students were asked what do they enjoy doing more? Reading books or watching movies? They all replied that they loved reading books because while reading they have the liberty to create their own characters, but movies do provide with a visual impact but mars their creativity.

The USP of the Fair was these three books –

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam The people’s President – How did a struggling young boy from a small town in South India become a premier scientist and one of India’s Beloved Presidents ever.

Mastering Science – to spark students interact in science and encourage them to actively participate in the learning process and gain a comprehensive understanding of scientific terms and concept.

► These books gathered a huge crowd and the students eagerly placed orders for them.



 DPS Ranchi Bids Adieu to Class XII

Memories of tears and laughter filled the school auditorium as students of standard XII , Delhi Public School Ranchi, walked in for their farewell ceremony on 29-01-2016. The programme organised by the students of class XI was a plethora of extravaganza. Young girls in colourful attires and boys in their formal wear attended the cultural programme titled ‘ Sayonara’.

The function began with a ‘Lavani dance’ to the beats of ‘apsara’ which enthralled the audience. It was followed by a mesmerizing medley of songs put up by the outgoing batch as they said goodbye to the wonderful moments spent in the edifice of education . A fusion dance by the boys of class XI swayed the crowd as cheers and loud applause filled the wall.

blessed the students and wished them best of luck for their exams. He also encouraged the students to work hard to not only to achieve their set goals, but also to become good citizens. Some valuable tips were also given by him related to time management as they embark on their new journey of life. He also announced that henceforth every 29th January DPS Ranchi will be organizing its alumni meet.

The icing of the cake was of course the novel idea of ‘nostalgia tree’ where the students tied loving messages for their alma mater .

The event came to a close with genuine smiles as everyone was on their feet and shared their cherished moments spent in school. The aura of nostalgia this farewell brought will always be there as the students imbibe on their journey ahead.



 Felicitation of Teacher & Students at DPS Ranchi

The auditorium of DPS Ranchi reverberated with thunderous applause for the best students and the best teachers. Delhi Public School, Ranchi hosted the Felicitation Ceremony of students and teachers of over 50 schools from different parts of Jharkhand. Which was organised by ‘School Era’ an educational magazine. The chief guest of the occasion was Shri C.P. Singh, the Minister of Urban Development, Housing Development and Parliamentary Affairs and Mr. N.N. Sinha Principal secretary , Rural Development was the Guest of Honour.
The programme began with a welcome song by the students of DPS Ranchi, which was followed by two dance performances by the students. Shri C.P. Singh emphasized on the inclusion of human values in student’s life, their sense of responsibility and the struggle of life. He encouraged them to work harder and contribute towards development of society. This programme was for honoring two students and one teacher from each of the 50 schools present. Principal DPS Ranchi, Dr. Ram Singh encouraged the students to have a vision and mission for life and to do things differently.



 Annual Sports Day - Sports do not build the character, they reveal it

With the gust of lots of energy and excitement “The Annual Sports Day” function started at the premises of Delhi Public School, Ranchi on the date 22nd January 2016. The various activities comprised of athletics, music, melody and abundance of events marked the beginning of the celebration. The event was graced by chief guest Dr. Louis Marandi (Welfare, Women and Child Development, State of Jharkhand ) she said in her speech sport is the preserver of health and are means of mental and physical growth she stressed the importance of sports in the students life. How children should be engaged in outdoor games and sports on the regular basis.

The opening programme was started with a welcome song by the school choir which was followed by the welcome speech by our Hon’ble Principal Dr. Ram Singh speaking on the occasion he highlighted the fact that sports develop a feeling of sportsman spirit where you learn to accept both victories and defeats with equal grace and acceptance. He extended his heartfelt gratitude on behalf of D.P.S. fraternity to the esteemed Chief Guest for honoring with their presence and giving their priceless guidance and blessings to the children.

The grand event was inaugurated by our Chief Guest Hon’ble Dr. Louis Marandi, The Cabinet Minister (Welfare, Women and Child Development, State of Jharkhand). After unfurling the school flag the Chief Guest declared the special day meet open by releasing the colourful balloons. Ceremony started with the lighting of perpetual torch. Events begin with the opening march past with a perfect beat and rhythmic flow by the six houses- Chenab, Ganges, Jamuna, Jhelum, Ravi and Sutlej led by the six house captains. It was really as blissful sight to watch the students marching to the beats of band.

Ceremonious oath taking by the house captains was followed by the declaration of the meet open.

Events started with a patriotic dazzling fusion dance ‘Vande Matram’ which enthralled the audiences. Later series of special events between students, house teams filled up the day with their continuous efforts promoting school spirit amongst the students, faculties and parents.

The events were rabbit race, frog race, candy race, three-legged race for Prep – II
50 mtr, 80 mtr, 100 mtr, 200 mtr, 400 mtr and 800 mtr flat race for classes II- VIII

Few different categories of races like shuttle race, obstacle race, hulla race, hopping race were also there to motivate and entertain as well.

After the much awaited enthralling and exciting events the prizes and awards were declared. Over whelmed with great joy and exuberance our Hon’ble Principal gave away the prizes for individual and house wise as well.

The winners were –
Rabbit Race (Prep) Ashita Das, Balancing ball ( prep) Atharv singh rathore, class II- Ikchha has got first prize and Abhinav kr and Abhineet kumar of class II got 1st for three legged race, class V obstacle race Abhigyan shankar (Ganges house) got first prize, 400 mts flat race of boys Milan Sinha ( Ganges house) bagged first position and in 400 mts flat race of girls Arushi (Sutlej house) got first prize, in class VI 400 mtr relay race Chenab house got first prize, in 800 mts boys in class VIII Navneet (Chenab house) got first prize, in Relay race of Class VIII in girls category Jamuna house bagged the first price. The individual championship trophy (boys) bagged by Milan Sinha (Ganges house) and in girls Anisha Sharma (Ravi house). The March past winner trophy were grabbed by Jamuna House for their incredible performance for best display. Overall Championship trophy was awarded to Ravi House.

The winners were overjoyed and the teams who couldn’t bagged the prizes they were seen congratulating their rival teams also.

Apart from commemorating victories sports meet aimed at imparting lessons of discipline and courage which are essential for success. The sports day concluded with lots of memories which will surely last for a long time from now.



DPS Ranchi celebrates Swami Vivekananda’s Birthday

Swami Vivekananda’s birthday was celebrated in Delhi Public School Ranchi on 12.01.2016 with great respect and honour. Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS Ranchi showed his honour by garlanding the statue of Swami Vivekanand. While addressing the children he also spoke about Swamiji and his inspirational thoughts. He said that Swami Vivekananda played a pivotal role in kindling the flame of patriotism among the youth. It was also highlighted by him that Swamiji once said – “Arise awake, stop not till your goal is reached”. On this occasion children too remembered golden words spoken by Vivekanand and pledged to follow his principles and ethics in order to build a strong nation. It was a day to pride that a great philosopher like Vivekanand spread his aura not only in India but throughout the world. His remarkable words still linger in the minds of the present generation.



Second Day of Annual Day celebration at DPS Ranchi

Second day of ‘Annual Day’ celebration of DPS Ranchi was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the presence of Shri Dinesh Oraon Hon’ble Speaker of Jharkhand Legislative assembly as the Chief Guest. Shri Randhir Kumar Singh Minister of Agriculture and Sugarcane was the Guest of Honor.
The chilling winds of December seemed to have no impact on the excitement of the children as the program proceeded wonderfully beginning with the welcome song followed by the presentation of bouquets and lighting of the lamp.

Dr. Ram Singh, Principal D.P.S. Ranchi presented a brief report of some of the notable achievements of the students in academics and co-curricular events in the session 2015-16. He also stated that his prime intention is to impart complete education to the students of Delhi Public School Ranchi so that they are confident enough to distinguish between good and evil. It was also stated by him that the idea of having annual day class wise initiated by him so that everybody or maximum number of children get a chance to showcase their talent.
It was a red letter day for all the meritorious students of the middle and senior sections as they were felicitated with scholar badges, blue blazers and blue tie. 14 students were awarded with blue tie and blue badge, 52 students received blue blazers and 73 students received the scholar badge. Ayush Kumar, Anirudh Anil Ojha, Nishant Singh Chauhan, Shubham Saha, Animesh Singh Chauhan, Urvashi Dhar, Tiyasha Mitra and Snehan were awarded a certificate and memento for their brilliant performance in KVPY. The school toppers of the science and commerce stream were also felicitated. It needs to be mentioned that Prarthana Murarka and Shrestha Kumar of the Science stream were the state rank holders as well. Ayush Kejriwal, Avani, Shraddha Pecheriwala, Shraddha Shrivastava of the commerce stream are state rank holders. In addition to all these prizes exhibiting academic excellence DPS Ranchi was also awarded the 3rd prize in Inter DPS Environmental Dance festival.

The students of senior secondary sections presented an array of cultural programs in colourful attires to mark Annual Day celebration. A dance drama titled 'Valmiki Pratibha' on the life of the creator of Ramayana formerly known as Daaku Ratnakar was staged and this was followed by a mesmerizing dance titled ‘Ganesh Avtaran’ a classical dance depicting the mythological story about birth of Lord Ganesh our benefactor as we see him today in our epic and tradition. After this another dance-form popularly known as Chaow known for its ’brisk and agile movements was presented to show the emergence of the great leader Birsa Munda.

The chief guest appreciated the brilliant performance and appreciated the Principal for giving the children an opportunity to showcase their talents. He also spoke about the excellent performance of the dip sites in the academic arena.

The culmination was marked by the vote of thanks to the distinguish guests.


DPS Ranchi Celebrates Success

Talent, artistry and exuberance lit the stage of Delhi Public School, Ranchi as students put forth a colourful show of extravagant cultural programme for their school annual function.

The occasion was graced by Shri Manoj Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Ranchi as the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour, Shri Prabhat Kumar, S.S.P Ranchi distinguished guest Mrs. Prabhat Kumar and Shri M.K. Burman Pro-vice Chairman DPS Ranchi.

The event began with a soulful rendition of Swagatam by the school band. This was followed by a fusion of Indian and Thai dance to the patriotic tune of Vande Mataram.
Dr. Ram Singh, Principal D.P.S. Ranchi presented a brief report of some of the notable achievements of the students in academics and co-curricular events in the session 2015-16. This year the children of classes IV to VI were also awarded with scholar badges and blue blazers to inculcate a competitive spirit among the children right from the junior classes. 72 children were awarded scholar badges and 32 were given blue blazers for their outstanding performance in academics. Maroon blazers were given to 6 children – Albab Arham Adbi, Nimisha, Tanmay Jain, Sarvesh, Rishav Raj and Riti Raj who have excelled in the field of finearts, sports and other co-curricular activities at the National, State and District level. Trophies were given away to the teams of DPS Ranchi who stood third in Inter DPS Environmental Dance Festival, stood second in National Heritage Festival at DPS Noida.

Moving on towards the cultural segment the mythological roots were brushed as the students took us back in time with a heartfelt dance drama titled 'Valmiki Pratibha' on the life of the creator of Ramayana formerly known as Daaku Ratnakar.

The students of standard 11 and 12 swayed the audience as they ventured on a trip to Venice with a marvelous performance of Shakespeare's Merchant Of Venice.

The school band concluded the programme with a melodious medley of songs which struck the right cords of everyone's heart.

Yuvraj Pradhan as Shylock won a lot of accolades for his brilliant performance and so did Vidisha Mishra as Portia. In the drance drama it was Zaid as Valmiki, Vishal as Narad Muni and Reyan who played the role of ‘Vivek’ who stole the show.

Shri Manoj Kumar, the Chief Guest addressed the hall full of eager students, parents and other deemed guests present. He encouraged the aspiring students to work hard towards achieving the greater good. These words were met with a loud round of applause from the zealous audience.

The grand finale brought together all the participants of the night and the evening came to a successful end with spirited laughter, genuine smiles and curious minds.

This Edifice of learning has constantly been soaring high and the innumerable achievements of the students and staff make the school a force to reckon with and the annual day was a testimony to this.



DPS Ranchi Wins the Overall Championship in the Jharkhand Youth Parliament

‘Youth Parliament on “Vision- 2019” was conducted by “Prayas” at DPS Ranchi on 21.12.2015. 18 different schools of Ranchi participated in this Youth Parliament. The main objective of holding such youth parliament at school level is to familiarize students with parliamentary function and also to raise the awareness of the Youth’s right to participate in Government.

Mr. Rajeev Arun Ekka, IAS Secretary Welfare department was the Chief Guest of the event. The programme started with address of the Principal DPS Ranchi Dr. Ram Singh. In his speech he emphasized that education is not only confined in the class room teaching and learning process rather creative discussions help in holistic development of children . He also congratulated the efforts of “Prayas” for bringing the students on the same platform and helping them to develop their interactive skills.
Akash of DPS Ranchi was the speaker of the Youth Parliament. There were 7 portfolios. The event was adjudged by Dr. Madhu Mishra HOD English Doranda College and Harvinder Kaur from Dainik Bhaskar.

The Education Minister discussed about the steps to be taken for the upliftment of education whereas HRD Minister spoke about eradication of illiteracy . Agriculture Minister supported the reforms in agricultural products . Defense Minister proposed to increase the the no. of soldiers in the Army and ensured to make India a safe Country. The Prime Minister spoke the proper development of the Youth and their role in the progress of the country. She also spoke against the Brain Drain and requested the opposition to support the parliament. This was followed by question hour in which opposition shot question to the ruling party. In this session the question asked by opposition to the HRD Minister was on the poor condition of school in villages to which the government reacted by the saying that only introduction of private companies can improve the condition.

The overall champion of this Youth Parliament was Shubh Mishra HRD Minister from DPS Ranchi. He was awarded Dr. Bahadur Singh Memorial Trophy.

► The Best question raiser award was given Nioni Khalko from Guru Nanak Public School
► The 2nd and 3rd best question raiser award has been given to Marthan Pandey from DAV Gandhi Nagar and Nishant Sagar from Oxford Public School respectively

Sri M. K. Burman GM (P & A) SAIL and pro vice chairman of DPS Ranchi was Special Guest who distributed the prizes to the awards winner and also encouraged the students to play a responsible role for the development of the country. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Mrs. Mrigakshi Alok.


Carnival Celebrated in DPS, Ranchi

Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life. Celebration gives festive mood.’

The chilled wintery day of 19th Dec’2015 began with great enthusiasm and merriment for the children of Primary wing of D.P.S., Ranchi. The day was indeed special for all of them.

For the tiny tots of class Prep and I a Grand Carnival cum Picnic was organised in the school premises. A costumed doll ‘Doremon’ was seen dancing and greeting the children at the main entrance. All were in festive mood and the air was filled with music, dance and shouts of children celebrating the day. The little ones were found hovering around the play area all through the day. Some of them were having fun in the jumping bags and some on merry-go-round. Interesting fun games like Clap and Catch, Toss the Ball, Snap shots added flavour to the fiesta. Children had their favourite foods with their friends and teachers under the open sky. It was all new experience for them.

For the students of class II and III also it was a picnic time but in a different way. They went on a trip to Zoo. Everyone was delighted mentally. They were very excited to see different birds and animals about whom they read in books. It was fun watching the roaring lion, leopards, bear and the tallest animal giraffe. They enjoyed looking at swamps made for the water birds. It was quite an exciting and lively picnic for them which gave spice to their life.

‘Today is a great day to learn something new……’

Yes, learning can be pleasurable if it is promoted through excursion. Keeping this in view, the school organised education trips for the students of Class IV and V.

Children of class IV visited ‘Science City Centre’ escorted by teachers. They were mesmerized to see the thematic galleries. They had a wonderful time scanning through the exhibits on simple machines, sounds, static models of prehistoric animals. The trip proved to be quite informative and enjoyable and students gained knowledge of science and technology.

Students of class V went on an excursion to ‘News-11’ to enhance their learning skill. The students were really enthusiastic to acquire knowledge about various aspects of electronic media and its role in modern world.

The excursion provided enlightening opportunity to the students to increase their knowledge. Encouraging the students Principal Dr. Ram Singh said, ‘The quality of life is more important than the life itself so one should enjoy his life to the fullest and participate in curriculum outside the normal school routine.’

The memorable day came to an end. It was not realized how quickly the time had gone by. After a day filled with fun and frolic the students departed for their homes with a smile on their face. It was one of the most exciting and lively day for them indeed.


Dr. Ram Singh represented the CBSE schools in National Conference on ‘Convergence of Face To Face And Open Schooling’ from Jharkhand

A two day National conference on Convergence of Face To Face And Open Schooling : Towards life long learning was organized by NIOS in collaboration with UNESCO at New Delhi on 13th and 14th December, 2015.

Dr. Subash Chandra Khuntia (IAS) Secretary, Dept. of School Education & Literacy, MHRD was the chief guest. The other distinguished personalities who were present on this occasion were Dr. Alisher Umarov, Chief Education & Programme specialist UNESCO, Prof. C.B. Sharma, Chairman NIOS, Prof. Santosh Panda, Chairperson NCTE and Dr. Saroj Yadav of NCERT.

Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi presented a paper on the theme: Teacher Development for convergence of face to face and open and distance learning, which was supported by interesting audio visual slides summing his vast experience in the field of education. Through his presentation it was explained by him that teaching can be made effective only when teachers are life long learners. Not only do we need to ensure the holistic development of students but also of the teachers. It was also stated by him that in order to make this mission successful we need to organise workshops, seminars, interactive session with teachers and students. On the whole its team work which is required for this work. The other members who attended this seminar appreciated the view forth by Dr. Ram Singh.

This was a joint venture where people from different fields of education were present to give their unique and innovative ideas. It was felt by everyone that this is not only the need of the teachers but preached and practiced by eminent philosophers like Aristotle and Swami Vivekanand as well. Shri S. K. Mishra, Principal International Public School also participated in this conference.

The programme ended with the vote of thanks which was proposed by Shri C. Dharuman, Secretary NIOS and it was unanimously agreed by the distinguished gathering that it was a joint venture and together they can bring a renewable change in the field of education.


Debate Competition at DPS Ranchi

An Inter School Debate Competition was organized at Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 14.12.2015 on the topic ‘Is an Prime Minister working as Foreign Minister’. 36 students from around 18 eminent schools of Ranchi took part in this event. The chief guest for today’s programme was Smt. Pooja Singhal (IAS). The speakers came out with brilliant examples and statistical date to prove their point.

Shri Madhu Mishra of Doranda College and Dr. Vinay Bharat of Marwari College were the two honorable judges for today programme.

Sudeshwa of St. Thomas School secured the 1st position, Vivek groups of Delhi Public School, Ranchi stood 2nd Rachna Nath of Bishop Westcott reward the 3rd prize. Raksha Bharti of Sachidanand Gyan Bharti 4th and Shubham of DAV Gandhinagar 5th. The overall champion was Aadliya Azar of Guru Nanak School. Overall the programme was a huge success.



Lang-Wiz Quiz Show at DPS Ranchi

With the aim to foster love for English language and to promote activities related to  language a language quiz was organised for the first time in India at Delhi Public School Ranchi at 12.12.2105. Lang Quiz is a unique package for learning and entertainment to excite and encourage students to think in English.

Mr. Barry O’Brien
renowned quiz master, educationist and author conducted the event. Around 52 schools from all over Jharkhand took part in this quiz. The participants were from the classes VI to VIII and each team had three members. A preliminary written round was conducted at the initial stage from which 6 teams were selected. The 6 schools were selected – Delhi Public School Ranchi, Little Flower School Jamshedpur, Chinmaya School Bokaro, JVM Shyamli Ranchi, St. Francis Harmu and Loreto Convent Ranchi. The final round had audio as well as visual rounds were tested on vocabulary, grammar and its usage. Questions like difference between Principle and Principal, Stationary and Stationery left the children a little baffled but later on the quizzing acumen of the participants enlivened the proceedings of the day.

Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS Ranchi while addressing the gathering said that the role of the school was not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower children to lifelong learners, critical thinkers and productive members of an ever changing global society.

Debarati Pal, Ayush Singh and Tanay Sudarshan of Little Flower School Jamshedpur emerged as the winners, Soumi Chatterjee, Malay Devashish and Md. Waquas of Delhi Public School Ranchi secured the second position, Tanay Ishaan, Bharat Kabra and Shweta Bose of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Bokaro finished off third.

The Prizes were given away by Dr. Ram Singh and Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, DGM corporate planning Mecon (LMC Member). A Sanskrit workshop was also held today at DPS Ranchi with Dr. Nutan Smriti, HOD, Indian Language, Kasiga School, Dehradun was the resource person.


Project Model Exhibition (Junior Wing) at DPS Ranchi

A grand ‘Mega Project and Model Exhibition’ by the Primary Wing of DPS, Ranchi was hosted in the school premises on 5th December, 2015.
Students from classes Prep-V had actively participated and displayed a wide array of projects and models on different subjects like Science, Social Science, Mathematics, Art and Literature. Almost each and every student participated in this exhibition and there was approx. 1320 exhibits on display.

Mrs. Nidhi Khare, Secretary cum Commissioner Commercial Tax Dept. was the Chief Guest for the occasion. She highly appreciated the students’ effort, emphasizing upon the fact that in a surrounding, where the students work and effort is valued, their self-esteem is heightened, which leads to self-motivation.

Principal, Dr. Ram Singh also stressed upon the fact that teaching should not be confined within the walls of the classroom; and as DPS, Ranchi has always believed in the holistic development, hence each and every student is provided with a stimulating and purposeful surrounding, in which they acquire skills and knowledge easily.

The students displayed wonderful exhibits on various interesting topics like Disaster Management, Rain Water Harvesting, Hydroelectric generators and turbines, Alternative sources of energy, the harmful effects of Global Warming caused by the detoriation of the Ozone layer of the atmosphere.

The students also exhibited their creativity by displaying models on creations of renowned literary figures like Shakespeare, William Wordsworth, Robert Frost, Ruskin Bond, Munshi Premchand, Kabir and Nirala. The late President and the Missile Man, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was also an inspiration for the topic of some models on display.

Budding painters, who are a genius with their paints and easels, had exhibited their wonders in myriad colours and bright hues.

Imagination and Creativity found a new dimension with the wonderful assortment of exhibits which was appreciated by one and all. The exhibition was indeed a grand success.


Project Model Exhibition at DPS Ranchi

A series of splendid exhibits covering various important subjects were displayed in the Project Model Exhibition held in the school premises on 04-12-2015. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Smt. Aradhana Pattaniak, Secretary HRD, Govt. of Jharkhand. Shri Rajiv Rai, DIG, CRPF was also present as the Guest of Honour.

The uniqueness of this exhibition lies in the fact that it has covered so many subjects like Science, Maths, English., Hindi, Sanskrit, Social Science, Business Studies, Computer Science, Informatics Practices, Accountancy, Physical Education, Economics and Art and Craft. Around 600 models were put up. The icing on the cake was ofcourse the display of class magazine of each and every section. This concept of giving an opportunity to the students to exhibit their creative acumen section-wise was the brain child of the Principal Dr. Ram Singh who is an exemplary role model for his students and is always futuristic in his approach.

The prime objective of this exhibition was to provide ample scope to each and every student to keep their curiosity alive and to ensure 3600 development of all the students. It was a spectacular show with children showcasing their innovative ideas to present their models on several topics like model of Smart City, “Beti bachao betiparhao”, Somnath temple, Red fort, etc. Children of class XI presented a beautiful model to show how topics like Probability in mathematics can be taught through games and hence make learning interesting. Another major attraction of this exhibition was the usage of JAVA programming to make railway reservation simpler and easier. The model Drone which shows how rescue operations can be done effectively earned a lot of appreciation. Pascal’s Law, Reflection of light were the other concepts which brought out the scientific acumen of the students. In English the models based on Discovering Tut and Canterville Ghost was some of the major attractions.

The Chief Guest while interacting with the DPS media team said that she was reminded of her childhood days when we use to run away from studies to play but this exhibition shows that how learning can be fun filled and entertaining. The Guest of honour Shri Rajiv Rai said that this exhibition portrays that our expectations from DPS Ranchi has rightly been fulfilled. Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS Ranchi while taking a round not only praised the excellent work of the children but also said that this practical knowledge will certainly help them in future. The exhibition was a riot of colours depicting enthusiasm and effervescence amongst students teachers, students and parents as well – one never knows who among these young scientists would turn out to be Newton or Einstein of tomorrow.


Children Of DPS Ranchi Visit Cheshire Home On World Disability Day

Delhi Public School Ranchi not only aims in making the children academically strong but morally rich as well. In keeping with this mission the Children of DPS Ranchi visited the Cheshire Home on World Disability Day (03-12-2015). The prime objective of such visits is to impart proper value education to the students so that they learn to treat every individual with dignity.

The children interacted with the inmates of the home, shared their joys and sorrows and even sang songs. Sweets were also distributed to the inmates and these few hours spent with the differently abled children made them realise that how priviledged they were. They also learnt about the inherent potential of the children in the field of art and craft. The children were spell bound to see the magnificent work of the children like candle making, handicraft etc.

On their return Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi showed his views with the children regarding the importance of outreach programmes. He said that we should thank God that we are lucky to be in position to serve mankind. It is worth mentioning here that Dr. Ram Singh genuinely feels that such programmes are meant to create an atmosphere that will help people with disabilities enjoy their life and get rid of social taboos that prevail in the society.


DPS Ranchi Celebrates ‘Constitution Day'

Delhi Public School Ranchi celebrated ‘Constitution Day’ on 26-11-2015 in order to honour our democracy as per the guidelines of CBSE. The celebration began with Principal Dr. Ram Singh addressing the students in the morning assembly. The students took a pledge by reciting the Preamble to the Constitution in unison. The head of the institution spoke in detail about the significance of the constitution of India. He said that it is the supreme law of India and is also a living document which makes the Government system work. It was also highlighted by him that it was on 26-11-1949 that the constitution was adopted by the constituent assembly. He also stated that this noble task initiated by the honourable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, will help the school children to learn and know about the constitution and its Chief Architect Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

A poster making competition was also organised by the children of Classes VI to XII which illustrated the message contained in the Preamble. The children came out with brilliant and innovative ideas in order to make the contents of the Preamble amply clear. The posters presented by the children depicted how the constitution was framed in order to create a secular and republic country with justice, Liberty, Fraternity and Equality as its chief motto. The best three will be selected from these and the winners will be awarded a special certificate of appreciation by the Principal.

This programme will instill awareness among the children and kindle the flame of patriotism in the hearts of these young pioneers who will indeed lead the country into a scientific, Self-Governing India with peace, Poise and Progress.


DPS Ranchi Children Exploring NASA

Education is not something which is restricted to the four walls of the classroom alone rather it is something beyond it. Learning happens best when we go for excursions and trips related to learning by seeing. Keeping this in mind students of DPS Ranchi comprising of 16 students and 2 teachers have gone to NASA. They are visiting various institutes in a place which is the leader in world space technology. Their joy new no bounds when they interacted with scientists and astronauts there. It was dream come true for many of them and many have also been motivated to pursue a career in this field.

Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS Ranchi and a person known for his innovative skills in the field of education wants that the students should utilize this golden opportunity to assimilate the innovative things being carried out there. A comparative study is being made by the children between the education system of USA and their own country. This trip has just started and by the end of the trip they are surely going to come back with enriching experience.


Principals Meet With RO CBSE In DPS Ranchi

Principals of around 40 CBSE Schools of Ranchi gathered together at Delhi public School Ranchi on 21-10-15 for an interactive session with Shri R.R. Meena, Regional Officer, CBSE Patna.

The meeting commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS Ranchi and President Sahodaya School Complex. This was followed by an interactive session regarding different issues related to the norms of CBSE, like formalities related to admission and withdrawal.

The session came to an end with the vote of thanks which was proposed by Shri T.P.Pati , Principal, DAV Hehal. The programme ended with the noble task of distributing books to the children from the economically weak section of the society. These books were sponsored by DPS Ranchi and was handed over by the Regional Officer.


Principal DPS Ranchi Applauds Teachers for Global Project

Delhi public School Ranchi was conferred with the prestigious International School Award (ISA) by British Council in the month of November at Chennai.
Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS Ranchi expressed his elation on receiving this award and said that it was really a matter of immense pride and honour to receive this prestigious award. It was under his guidance that the teachers were able to take up this project so that children could get the benefit of exchange programmes. As a token of appreciation all the team members of this International Project were awarded with a certificate of appreciation by the head of the institution.

It is worth mentioning here that Dr Ram Singh has most humbly given the entire credit to his teachers. He genuinely feels that in today’s world global exposure is very much need of the hour and for this he is ever ready to provide the best facility possible in order to groom his students and teachers to be at par with the International counterparts.


Science and Adventure Camp at Dps Ranchi

‘It is in the compelling zest of high adventure and in creative action, that one finds his supreme joy.’

On the bright and cheerful morning of 7th November’ 2015, a fun filled in-house Science and Adventure camp was inaugurated for class III to V at the premises of Delhi Public School, Ranchi. Speaking on the occasion Principal,
Dr. Ram Singh said that, main emphasis of organizing such camp is to edify the students to live together in a healthy and stimulating environment. He added, adventure activities would enable the students to learn new skills, which would prove to be rudimentary for tomorrow’s competitive world.

Split into two flexible options ( Day and Night) each camping option was packed with varied adventurous activities and leadership games that one would want to have for the students. The programme commenced with a rejuvenating ‘ice breaking’ round followed by ‘funny energizer’.

Adventure Camp included following fun filled activities.

Rappelling                 - Controlled descent down a rock face using a rope.

River Crossing           - Children would cross the river with the help of pulley suspended on a cable.

Burma Bridge            - Children used this bridge made with wooden planks and rope to cross a stream.

Rope Ladder             - A challenging Team building activity usually consists of high or low elements.

Obstacle course included

Tarzan Swing            - Children will swing or jump over 12 to 15 feet high obstacle.

Commando Net         - Great form of exercise, building balance and coordination.

Spider Web               - An imaginative web created by ropes to cross the hurdles.

Net Crawling             - Crawling through mud under a taught net fixed firmly to the ground.

Rope Climbing          - Rope was used to ascend and descend.

Double Rope Bridge - Made with the help of rope to cross the building in emergency situation.

Beam Balancing        - Balancing body on a wooden plank. Children learned body balance.

All the hurdles mainly are survival techniques for one to survive in natural surroundings.

Team building games

These activities are designed for building relationships and helping kids feel more connected.

Dragon Tail               - Fun games were organized where first member presented as the head of a scorpion
                                   and the last member as a tail. This technique is used for team spirit.

Treasure Hunt           - Children were found busy looking for clues with the help of navigation technique
                                   using compass.

Tent Pitching             -Children were trained to make tent using cloth, rope and natural resources like tree
                                   branches, which enable them to make shift shelter thereby sharing and caring for
                                   each other.

Australian Trolley     - To foster team spirit this game is played in pairs to balance themselves.

 Team Games were to ensure team bonding, cooperation between teams. Team games promote critical thinking among the children.

Tug of War    - Such game was organized to encourage mind and body coordination between two teams.

Angry Bird    - Made the children learn about aiming the target.

Magic Mats    -Team leadership and coordination between team members were taught through this game of
                       crossing an imaginary acid river.

An entertaining Magic show was also organized for the students to boost up their energy.

Students were divided into various groups with one instructor for each group. Names of the group were Jaguar, Tiger, Rhino, Lion, Cheeta, & Fire fox etc.

All through the day they were found full of vigour and zeal. Enthusiastic students were found shouting slogans like ‘East or West Tigers are the best’,  ‘O G ….. O G… Oye... Oye…’

Night Camp  would include evening/night sky observation, handling of telescope, learning activity about Universe, planets and their moons. Children would come to know about amazing aspects of the sky above them, that incite wonder: the stars, the moon, the planets and vastness of it all.

Students learnt new skills, engaged in challenging activities and developed team work, competency and level of independence all in a safe and nurturing environment.

Inter House Football Match (Final) of Class IV at Dps Ranchi

Cheers everywhere! Slogans floating! Atmosphere was charged and spirits were soaring high! Football fever had caught DPS, Ranchi today on 4th November, 2015. It was the occasion of Inter House Football match (Final) of Class IV in the Primary wing of DPS, Ranchi. The passionate calls of ‘Ganges, Ganges!’ and ‘Jamuna, Jamuna’ might have forced both these mighty rivers to leave Prayag and come to DPS, Ranchi.

Healthy competition – that’s what sports is all about. Children play to win and then learn to loose. Thereby, learning sportsmanship that is winning or losing gracefully and getting ready to handle the difficulties successfully in their lives. The house wise league matches had been taking place for last one month where the participants for the finale emerged to be Jamuna House and Ganges House. Although the zeal and enthusiasm of both the teams were splendid and remarkable, Jamuna House was Triupmphant! They withstood all the tension, suspense, fear and enigma and have shown that courage and honest efforts win. First half saw two goals by Dakshesh and Sumit. Jamuna was dominating and attacking throughout the match. They won with the last minute goal made by Sumit Tirki. The faces of the following proud and worthy players of the winning team Jamuna were glowing with the success of the match Pranav Raj, Daksh, Dakshesh, Akshat, Sumit, Yash, Rahul, Shreyash, Abhijeet, Hardik and Raunak.

Principal, Dr. Ram Singh congratulated both the teams for their passion and sportsmanship and wished them good luck for their future endeavours.

This day proved the determination of the Principal Dr. Ram Singh to provide overall and all round personality development of the students. A really fun filled day!


Plays a Pivotal Role in Making India Digital at Dps Ranchi

An online test of IT Talent search was conducted in Delhi Public School Ranchi on 31.10.2015 (Saturday), for all selected school students of Ranchi District. It was one of the biggest centre in the state. Digital awareness and tech savvy generation is the vision and mission of Prime Minister of India and it is in this regard that an online test was conducted by Department of IT and e-Gov(Govt. of Jharkhand) in association with Dept. of HRD (Govt. of Jharkhand) and MICA Educational Group, Ranchi.

The first round was conducted on 15th October, 2015 and the third or final round will be held on 14th Nov. 2015.
650 students of Govt. and private schools from various corners of Ranchi District took this test in which they were tested on their programming and application skill with modern hardware-software facilities of Information Technology. There who will qualify in the second round will be appearing in the final round in which they will be awarded attractive prizes.The focus was mainly on making the children of every nook and career of Jharkhand computer savvy.

Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi expressed his hearts elation to the organizers because he sincerely believes that a free and fair opportunity should be given to each budding talent irrespective of the strata to which they belong.

DPS Ranchi hosted the online IT test in order to ensure that not only Dipsites, but students from of Government schools can also be grounded to be expert in the field of IT. Our country can develop only when all students are given the best resources.  


Cultural Bonanza of Class II and III

‘Happiness becomes celebration when, what you think, you say and you do are in harmony’

On the Occasion of National Unity Day, Students of Std. two and three of D.P.S. Ranchi presented a mind blowing Cultural Bonanza ‘PAHAL’ at is school premises on 31st October 2015.

DIG Police Mr. Praveen Kumar graced the occasion with his benign presence. The chief guest in his speech praised all round talent of the young ones. He said no education is complete without arts and creativity playing a central role in a child’s life.

The school Principal Dr. Ram Singh in his welcome speech expressed his gratification and said that he believes in celebration as the school is progressing day by day through holistic development of its students. They are always encouraged to move ahead to discover their hidden talents through various co-curricular activities.

The function comprised of colourful and vibrant theatrical extravaganza unveiled with an astounding dance drama named ‘Deepshikha, The journey of a girl child’. Girls, who always become blessing for the society should be given equal opportunity as boys by the parents. It is the parents positive thinking which can change the whole society in India. The mesmerizing show spread a message to the audience that parents need to stop neglecting their daughters and consider their kids same whether they are boys or girls.

Next was a remarkable show ‘Awesome Feat – Gyan Prakash’, which kept everyone present there completely captivated. It was really unbelievable for them to see the child’s miraculous talent, Gyan Prakash, who is a boy of standard two recognised each and every detail of unknown objects with his closed eyes. It was really amazing to see him reading coloured number cards recognizing unfamiliar objects shown by the audience confidently and correctly. His splendid performance was rightly applauded by the audience.

Highlighting National Unity Day another sensational dance performance based on Harmony between religion and community showed that God created human and wanted them to live in peace and harmony. But, their fissiparous tendencies like aggressive communalism, religionalism, linguism, religious bigotry and casteism are threatening the natural integrity. The colourful dance drama successfully made the audience feel that – Just like wave can’t separate itself from ocean, we can’t separate ourselves from one another. We are all part of a vast sea of love, one indivisible divine mind.

The programme concluded with vote of thanks followed by rendition of the National Anthem.

Celebrating Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s Birth Anniversary

Delhi Public School ( Primary Wing ), honoured the man behind these words Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam by commemorating this day as Students’ Day.  The day started with an inspirational biographical show and virtuous speech of Dr. Kalam on Smart Board students came to know more about Dr. Kalam they learned about Kalam’s vision, his deeds, his simple living and high thinking attitude and above all how people remember him by his close and friendly association with his students, whom he loved dearly. This was followed by a special Programme to celebrate the day. Students presented different programmes on Dr. Kalam, which included Poems, Speeches, few of them even spoke on the topics like, ‘What will you do to become like Dr. Kalam?’ and ‘What qualities of Dr. Kalam inspire you?’A student dressed up as Dr. Kalam, delivered few great thoughts of the ‘missile man’. An interesting quiz show on Dr. Kalam was also conducted which captivated the students. Questions like ‘When and Where was Dr. Kalam born?
‘Which first Satellite launch vehicle was successfully deployed by Dr. Kalam?’ were asked. Students were found answering the questions enthusiastically.
The programme concluded with a floral tribute to Dr. Kalam by Principal, Dr. Ram Singh and the students of Primary Wing.

Dr. Kalam used to say – ‘It is very easy to defeat someone, but it is very hard to win someone.’ Often referred to as ‘peoples’ president’ Dr. Kalam has surely won the hearts of young ones here. Speaking on the occasion Principal, Dr. Ram Singh said that Dr. Kalam utilized any opportunity that came to him to address school children. He used to motivate the children to dream big so that they become achievers in life. So, the students should have a big dream and work hard to achieve it.

Student's Day was made more memorable by the ancient Indian Sport Kabaddi ( Final) played between two teams Ravi House and Jamuna House of class five. A total of seven girls from each team participated enthusiastically. Students found cheering the teams wholeheartedly Ravi House finally became the winner with 79 points to 69 points Jamuna House. The match concluded with a bond of sportsmanship among the students.


Brainstorming session on Smart City Mission at DPS Ranchi

An “interactive session” was organized in Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 12.10.2015 on how to develop Ranchi as “Smart City”. This was organized by Ranchi Municipal Corporation in association with SUDA (State Urban Development Authority). Smt.AshaLakra, Mayor of Ranchi, Shri Rajesh Kumar Sharma Director of SUDA, ShriPrasant Kumar Municipal Commissioner and other and other dignitaries were present for this brainstorming session. This program has been initiated in keeping with Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s mission– Smart City Mission -which would promote adoption of smart solutions for efficient use of available assets and enhance the quality of urban life.

DPS Ranchi was selected as the first school to begin with this interactive session as the children of this school are more informed, more responsible and do want to participate wholeheartedly in order to make Ranchi a role model for other cities.

As a part of this Smart City mission a presentation was screened on which it was discussed about the SWOT-analysis i.e. Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. In relation to this the children stated that the weather and tourism prospects are the city’s strengths but again traffic jam, un-organized slums, low literacy rate are the major weaknesses of Ranchi. It was also pointed out that – the city also has opportunities like ethnic art etc. which needs to be utilized to its’ fullest potentials. While considering all these factors the threats like safety and security of women and girls also need to be addressed. Children came up with brilliant suggestions which were highly appreciated by the organizers. Aakash, Vivek Gupta and Aryaka of class XII spoke about – providing the city with basic civic amenities and transforming Ranchi into an Eco-City. It was strongly emphasized by the distinguished guests that our vision should be one which should be specific and achievable.

Smt. Asha Lakra congratulated the head of the institution for playing a pivotal role in motivating the children in all those activities which would help in making this city a better place to live in. It was also stated by her that – DPS Ranchi has always lead from the front in matters of social issues which are designed for the betterment of the city and the nation at large.

He also spoke about the basic criteria on the basis of which Ranchi will be adorned with the title of the Smart City.

Many new ideas like developing Ranchi as a major educational hub and promoting it as a eco-tourism city was highly applauded by the eminent personalities who were present for todays discussion. This interactive session will be followed by an Essay writing competition on the topic “Mere SapnokaSahar” which will be held on 13.10.2015 in order to get more innovative ideas to accomplish this task.


RBIQ 2015 hosts by DPS, Ranchi

RBI-Q 2015 was Organized in Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 07.10.2015 (Wednesday). This program was Organized by Reserve Bank of India to inculcate financial literacy among the school children of Jharkhand. The event was inaugurated by Shri Anurag Gupta, ADG (SpecialBranch) Jharkhand Police and Shri M.K Barman GM SAIL and Pro-Vice Chairman DPS Ranchi.

103 Schools from all over Jharkhand took part in this quiz. Shri Lloyd Saldana was the Quiz master for this program. Children were quizzed on various subjects such as Banking, General knowledge, Fnance and Economics. Six teams were finally screened and selected to battle for the quarter final round after the preliminary round – they were as follows
1. Delhi Public School, Ranchi.
2. SSVM, Dhurwa, Ranchi.
   3. Ramkrishna Mission Vidyapith, Deoghar.
   4. Tata DAV School, Sijua, Dhanbad.
5. Guru Gobind Singh Public School, Bokaro.
6. DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Bariatu, Ranchi.

The Quiz master asked questions like What is common to a character from the Big Bang Theory and the one cent coin etc.
Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi thanked RBI for choosing DPS Ranchi as the host school and said that such programs will enable the children to have a deep insight about the world of finance. It was also stated by him that Quiz is a tool to sharpen the potentials lying latent in children. He congratulated the finalists and motivated them to put in their best for the zonal and national round.

Life is all about questions but one who knows the answer sets the break through - Abhinav Garg and Vedant Sahu of DPS Ranchi eventually became the winner with 80 points. Chinmay Banarjee and Kshitiz kumar of Ramkrishna Mission Vidyapith, Deoghar secured the 2nd position and Aabhas Dasgupta and Abhishek Kumar Gupta of Tata DAV School, Sijua, Dhanbad secured the 3rd position. The winning teams will now be sent for the zonal and national round. 


Book Fair at DPS, Ranchi

A ‘Book Fair’ was held in the Premises of Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 5th October 2015. The Principal of the School, Dr. Ram Singh inaugurated it and while inaugurating he emphasized strongly that “Books are a man’s best friend”.He also stated that books should be an integral part of a student’s life and  inculcating reading habits among the young ones should be the utmost priority of the teachers as well as the parents.Books not only provide us with information, but it also develops good writing skills.

The fair had a large array of books ranging from fiction to non-fiction, biographies, autobiographies and encyclopaedias.There were books on various subjects, hobbies, creative activities etc.The students of Classes Prep – VIII enthusiastically visited the Book Fair and purchased their favourite books.

When these students were asked what do they enjoy doing more? Reading books or watching movies? They all replied that they loved reading books because while reading they have the liberty to create their own characters but movies do provide with a visual impact but mars their creativity.

The prime attraction  of the Fair was these three books –

  • 'How Apple And Google Went To War’ by Fred Vogelstein. Which dealt on the most vibrant issue of today –
    The rise of I phones, smart phones and tablets has changed the world communications. The feud between Apple and Google is reshaping our technology and its aspects.

  • 'Towards Better English’ authored by M. Rajaram which is an ultimate guide to mastering The English Language.

  • 'Experiments with Magnets’  by Marie Bryan which has a vast array of experiments, magnetic tools, timeline photos and various tips for students to make wonderful projects.

These books gathered a huge crowd and the students eagerly placed orders for them.


Gandhi Jayanti Celebrated at DPS, Ranchi

Today at Delhi Public School, Ranchi the 146th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation was celebrated. On this auspicious occasion Dr. Ram Singh,Principal Delhi Public school threw lights on the awesome thoughts and ideas of Mahatamaji and said that he believed and considered Bapu as a symbol of peace, non-violence and freedom for teaching the philosophy of Ahimsa for the well-being of the people in the society.

Principals meet for All Jharkhand I.T. Talent Search (UDAAN – 2015) at DPS Ranchi

A meeting was Organised at Delhi Public School Ranchi on 23.09.2015 to discuss about the Rules and Regulations of All Jharkhand I.T. Talent Search UDAAN – 2015. This Programme was Conducted by Department of IT & e-Governance (Govt. of Jharkhand) in association with HRD department & MICA Educational Group.

The Prime Objective of this Programme is to motivate the students to understand the importance of IT and its relevance in today’s education system. It will also help to break the monotony of printed text and give a new flavour to education through the use of Information Technology.

This programme was attended by the Principals and Representatives of all the CBSE, ICSE, schools.

Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi while addressing the gathering said that Education is not just imparting knowledge, but inculcating, in students, the capacity to acquire information and then apply what has been learned. It was also highlighted by him that each and every individual needs to be cyber savy, in order to become a world class leader.

The District Education Officer Shri Raj Kumar Singh briefed about the Manner in which it will be conducted and its long term benefits for the students.

This Thoughtful Message conveyed through the aforesaid lines was the basic agenda of the ‘Mathematics’ workshop organised by “Encycopedia Britannica” under the aegis of Delhi Public School, SAIL Township, Ranchi on 12.09.15 (Saturday). The workshop was primarily based on primary and secondary level of Mathematics teaching. The eminent Resource person Ms. Jharna De who graced the occasion who has a vast experience of 37 years in the field of Mathematics as a teacher/facilitator and has developed concept building materials for the subject and has co-authored various books for NCERT and lab manuals for CBSE. She laid emphasis upon 5E in mathematics teaching viz. Engagement, Exploration, Explanation, Elaboration and Evaluation in order to connect mathematics to real life situations. Thus imparting a more lively image of the subject in the classroom premises.
Almost 25 schools of the city participated in this workshop for improvisation of teaching skills in the subject and its empowerment thus making the workshop a grand success. The workshop was initiated by Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, Delhi Public School Ranchi and conducted and executed under the able guidance of Mr. S. M. Omair (HOD Mathematics DPS Ranchi) and Mr. Rajneesh Kumar and his team. From Encyclopedia Brittanica Zonal Manager Mr. Chitttiz Sisodia ,Deputy Zonal Manager Mr. Binod Kr. Singh has organized the event and made it successful.



Exciting Grand Finale Matches of Junior Wing (11/09/15)

“There may be obstacles at my feet, but I’ll keep my eyes and mind totally focused on my goal.

It was the day of Football, an invigorating game!

On 11th sep’ 2015, Primary wing of D.P.S., Ranchi organized an Inter House Football Match ( Final) for football enthusiasts. The league matches were held between all the Houses and culminated in a grand finale between Ganges House and Jhelum House. The House captain of Ganges was Milan Sinha and Kislay was the captain of Jhelum House. In an electrifying match with the skills of foot work Ganges House was able to triumph over Jhelum House with 02 goals to 01 goal. The team members of Ganges House were –

Milan Minha (C), Aditya Sharma, Shourya, Ayush ojha, Tanmay, Satwik choudhary, Abhigyan shankar, Soumya, Avinash, Ayush kr. Singh, and Vedant

Success isn’t given. It’s earned on the track, on the field with the sweat and occasional tears.

The young players pulsated the basketball court with immense energy during primary wing’s exuberant Inter House Basketball Final Match. After series of league matches held between all the Houses, Ganges and Jhelum were able to succeed to the grand finale. Ganges had Aashman kumar as its captain while Jhelum’s team captain was Farhan Aziz. There was a tough fight between two teams. Students were found enthusiastically cheering the players throughout the match. Finally Jhelum House won with the score of 20 to 02 the score of Ganges House.

Thus, the matches concluded with highly recognizable sportsman spirit among the two teams.

Principal, Dr. Ram Singh congratulated the winner and runner up teams on their stupendous success and wished them luck for their future endeavors.

The day helped in forging a stronger bond of sportsmanship among the youngsters.



Seminar on Educating India – Skilling India at DPS Ranchi

Delhi Public School, Ranchi in collaboration with National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)  organised a seminar for students, Teachers and Principals on 09-09-2015. The programme began with ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the honorable chief guest Prof. C. B. Sharma, Chairman, NIOS. After this the children of DPS presented a melodious welcome song which was followed by the presentation of bouquets to the eminent guests. The programme was conducted in three sessions – first session was interaction with students, second with the teachers and the third session was with the Principals. In the first session the students of Delhi Public School, Ranchi voiced their opinions and suggestions in a very enthusiastic manner. Around 70 teachers from all the eminent schools of Jharkhand were present in the second session. In the third session Principals of around 70 schools from Jharkhand board and CBSE board attended this programme.

The prime objective of this seminar was to interact and collect feedback as well as suggestions for framing a new well defined education policy. This policy aims at revamping and redefining the existing education policy.
In this regard 33 major areas have been identified out of which 20 are for school level education and 13 for higher education. Prof. C. B. Sharma has been entrusted with two major areas – strengthening of vocational education (VE) and promotion of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). During the course of the interaction some brilliant suggestions like scope of such kind of education, need to create awareness among parents, refresher courses for teachers, importance of job mapping etc. came up.
Dr. Ram Singh in his augural address said that we need to welcome changes and the changes are taking place because of globalization in the field of education. He also said that the new policy aims at fulfilling the needs of the people as per the demand. It was also stated by him that this system offers a plethora of choice and for this people need to arise and awake.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. A. K. Singh, Regional Director, NIOS. In his speech he stated that the ideas and suggestions taken from here will help in framing the new educational policy. He expressed his heartfelt thanks for the contribution of innovative ideas which would go a long way to give us a clear picture of “What is happening and What is going to happen?”



Indradhanush – A Cultural Bonanza by Class Prep and I ( 6th September, 2015 )

On the bright and cheerful day of 6th Sep’ 2015 the little angels of class Prep and One of Delhi Public School, Ranchi presented a Colorful Cultural Bonanza named ‘Indradhanush’ at its school premises
The function was graced by Chief guest Sri Ashish Batra, I.G., Ranchi, Guest of Honour Sri V. K. Tiwari, ADJ Hazaribagh. Our Principal Dr. Ram Singh, Mr. Neeraj DJM, Ranchi.

Speaking on the occasion chief guest Sri Ashish Batra stressed the importance of developing all round capabilities of children which would one day help the little ones to pioneer wherever they might be.

The show commenced with a welcome song ‘Khil Uthi Kali Kali’ sung by budding singers. This was followed by presenting saplings as token of gratitude to the esteemed guests and lighting of the auspicious lamp respectively.

Principal, Dr. Ram Singh, in his welcome speech highlighted the fact that D.P.S. believes in holistic development of its students. He said the mission of school is to establish caring environment that would nurture creativity and release passion for stretching beyond the limits of thoughts and perception among the students.

Audience remained spellbound as the show of seven colours unfolded through various mesmerizing performances.

Whole auditorium echoed with applause for the magnificent show put up by the tiny tots. The programme wound up with vote of thanks by a small student of Class I.

‘Happiness isn’t something you experience. It’s something you remember’ It was indeed a memorable day filled with joy and pride for parents as well as the teachers.



Teacher’s Day Celebrated at DPS Ranchi

The most special day for Teachers in the whole year, the Birth Anniversary of former President and the great educationist respected Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan also celebrated as Teacher’s Day was celebrated with enthusiastic fervour in Delhi Public School Ranchi. The programme started with paying homage to Dr. Radhakrishnan and the lighting of the lamp. Paying floral tribute to the great educationist, Principal Dr. Ram Singh hoped that the same gesture of imparting selfless service and knowledge shall be there is each and every teacher of the school.

The Teacher’s Day became all the more special for Delhi Public School Ranchi as the Principal of the school. Dr. Ram Singh has been conferred with the ‘CBSE Teachers’ award for 2014 by the CBSE. He received this honour from Ms. Smriti Irani, Minister of Human Resource Development on September 3, 2015 in Delhi. He was also felicitated by The Pro-Vice Chairman, Headmasters ,Teaching and Non-Teaching Fraternity of DPS Ranchi family.

On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, some teachers were also awarded for their extraordinary contribution in educating children. Dr. Ram Singh encouraged the teachers to continue to do good work and keep their noble profession above everything else.

The programme was studded with cultural programme comprising of beautiful songs and colorful dances by the teaching staff.


Prime Minister’s special message captivates students of DPS Ranchi

On the eve of Teacher’s Day, the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, addressed millions of children across the country. As per the instructions of Shri R. P. Singh, D.E.O, and, Shri J. K. Mishra, D.S.E. Delhi Public School Ranchi, made excellent arrangements for the children to listen to the inspirational and motivating speech. Children of classes VI – XII were able to witness this programme with the help of Smart boards. This programme was a live telecast from Manekshaw Center, New Delhi. Shri Narendra Modi, in his speech, spoke about the importance of teachers in a student’s life. He said that the profession of a teacher was quite different from any other profession, in order to explain this aspect, he said that a doctor may be responsible for saving life, but it is the dedication and hard work of a teacher that produces hundreds of doctors. According to him, teachers are known for their ability to devote themselves selflessly to educate children so that they can contribute substantially for the growth and development of the nation. He said that, in order to attain knowledge we must not become robots. He expressed his grief that we don’t live in the era of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan when the ‘Guru Shishya Parampara’ was at its zenith and now it is the duty of each and every individual to bring back that tradition. He highlighted the importance of having a receptive mind to learn something new everyday.

The most interesting segment was the interactive session in which the students who have excelled in various fields got an opportunity to interact with the Prime Minister. They came up with interesting questions like “What is the recipe of success?”, to which he answered that there wasn’t any concrete recipe for success, it all depends on our level of concentration and sincerity.

The head of the institution Dr. Ram Singh spoke highly about this innovative idea and motivated the students to follow the path shown by the Hon. Prime Minister. He also said that in the present globalised world the youngsters have to face lots of challenges for which they need to be instructed and inspired in order to reach their potential growth and development.

The children were totally spellbound while listening to the motivational speech and thanked the school authorities for giving them this golden opportunity.

Achievers Awarded On Annual Day

The Annual Day of the Secondary section (‘SPLASH’) was held on 28 August, at DPS Ranchi, which was yet again a portrayal of versatility and various multifaceted talents of the students. The programme began with the Santhali Dance troop of the school extending a hearty welcome to all our distinguished guests spreading the aura of Jharkhand’s rich culture and heritage. This was followed by the lighting of the inaugural lamp and felicitation of the revered guests. The Chief Guest for today’s programme was Smt Pooja Singhal, Additional Secretary, Dept of Agriculture, Govt. of Jharkhand and the Guest of Honour was the Pro-vice Chairman of the School.

The Principal Dr. Ram Singh while addressing the gathering focused on the various endeavors taken up by the school to provide a wide range of skill and interest for the all round development of children. It was also stated by him that DPS Ranchi is totally committed to the cause of meeting the needs of every child to the utmost ability. Independence day Celebrated at DPS Ranchi

Delhi Public School Ranchi celebrated the 68th Independence day with great fervor displaying the true flavor of freedom and independence. The flag was hoisted by the Principal Dr. Ram Singh by the Principal Dr. Ram Singh spreading the aura of patriotism. After the flag hoisting the children paid their tribute to the tri colour by presenting a splendid March Past where the contingent marched smartly presenting a fantastic show.

Speaking on this occasion the head of the institution said that we should not talk only about our rights but about our duties as well. We should try our best to free our country from the social evils that fail the glory of our nation. The teachers too have special role to play and do something beyond their duty. It was also announced by him that a lab with 300 computers will soon be launched for online tests. On this special occasion, the children presented a patriotic song ‘Maa Tujhe Salam’. The programme was a memorable one and children, Teachers, Parents as well as the staff members participated whole heartedly.

The Annual Information Technology Test 2015 titled IT @ cutting edge 2015 was organised by DPS society in DPS Noida recently, in which the children of Delhi Public School Ranchi came out with flying colours. In category I which was an “online event” – ‘Decryptonite’ three students of the cradle have made it to the top 50 at the national level.Its worth mentioning here that only four schools from Jharkhand has qualified at the national level and out of these four three (PrasoonNath, AdityaAbhishek, NinadSinha) are from DPS Ranchi. More over Prasoon Nath of class XII secured the first position in Eastern India Apart from this there were 4 other “on site” events. In one of these events Chinmaya and Ankit of class VIII emerged as one of the winners at the national level.

This Mega Event gave the children a scope to enrich their minds with some of the new techniques & technologies. The Head of the institution Dr. Ram Singh congratulated the students and wished them the very best in life. He also said that he wants his students to do something out of the box apart from their regular academics and make a mark in the society.



Honorable Governor of Jharkhand visits DPS Ranchi

“Do unto others as you would have them Do unto you” - Caring Jharkhand An ISR CONCLAVE 2015 expands on this idea by Responsibly enriching Jharkhand. This programme was organised in Delhi Public School Ranchi on 12.08.2015 (Wednesday). Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand graced this programme as the Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest was extended a warm welcome with the rendition of a melodious number “Aaye hain hum swagatkarne man main aadarbhavliye”

She was then cordially facilitated by the Head of the institution Dr. Ram Singh with a sapling and a memento. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp to mark the beginning of the programme.

It was a memorable occasion for Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi and the DPS Ranchi family as a galaxy of eminent dignitaries such as Shri N. N. Sinha , Principal Secretary, Deptt. of Rural Development , Shri M. R. Meena, Principal Secretary to the Governor of Jharkhand Shri S. N. Pradhan, ADG , Jharkhand and members of the School Managing Committee were present. On this momentous occasion other important guests and parents were also present to witness the programme. While addressing the gathering Dr Ram Singh spoke about the various philanthropic tasks undertaken by DPS, Ranchi to promote a proactive stance towards the society. DPS Ranchi makes it to the Nationals

The students of Delhi Public School have proved that they are not only academically strong but also rich in extra – curricular activities. DPS Ranchi has qualified for the nationals of Inter DPS Dance Competition (Nrityanjali) to be held in November at DPS, Noida, Delhi. They mesmerized the audience with their brilliant performance on the theme that was based on the mythological history of the birth of Lord Ganesha, our benefactor, as we see him today in our epics and traditions. The team competed with 15 teams who participated in the competition at D.P.S, Durg (Zone-4). The winning team comprised of Rajlaxmi Singh, Shakshee Vinay, Prathana Choubey, Isha Deep, Neha Sinha, Vidushi, Smit Bhagat, Kaushiki Singh and Shambhavi Gupta.

Dr. Ram Singh, Principal D.P.S, Ranchi congratulated the winners and wished them the very best for the upcoming challenge. He has also promised them the best possible facilities and support in order to hone their skills for the final round.

"Know Disaster for no Disasters"

With initiative of Colonel Dr. Rajesh Singh, Indian Army and Dr. S. K. Sinha Institute of Coal Management (IICM), an awareness Programme on disaster management was held today (07/08/2015) at Multi Purpose Hall of Delhi Public School, Ranchi. The initiative is a part of the group called : Karmanye" which manages disasters at the national level. The solemn aim of the group is to discharge the knowledge to the young potentials so that the larger society can be senitised through school children. Dr. S. K. Sinha focused that disaster management is the creation of plans through which communities reduce vulnerabilities to hazards and cope with disasters. With that aim in mind, the group is visiting various schools in Ranchi and around to propagate and make the children Disaster Management Planners, Resilient and prepare them to deal with disaster in future. Dr. Sinha also spoke at length about natural and man-made disasters and their immediate fall out. In both the cases awareness is important as we cannot prevent disasters from happenings but reduce its effect on us by responding to it in the correct manner. Colonel Rajesh Singh conducted a "Mock Drill" with the help of the school children where aftereffects of bomb blast was shown. The children where enlightened on how to manage such a situation with the help of administration and rescue team.

Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi said that he was really honoured to have such eminent personalities amidst ourselves and educating them how to deal with disaster and grow up to be strong and confident citizens of India. Colonel Dr. Rajesh Singh, Indian Army and Dr. S.K. Sinha Institute of Coal Management (IICM) appreciated the efforts of Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi in this Noble endeavor and of creating awareness among children and tanning them with all the techniques to be well armed to face all disasters.


National Handloom Day at DPS Ranchi

First National Handloom day was celebrated on 7th August, 2015, this is launched by the honorable Prime Minister of India and as the part of this programe a speech competition was organised in Delhi Public School Ranchi on the same day. This programe was worked out in association with Jharcraft and NABARD. The Main Motive of this day is to generate awareness about the importance of handloom industry as a part of our rich heritage and culture, promote handloom products and lead to increase in income of weavers as well as enhance their confidence and pride.

The chief guest for todays programe was Mr. A.T. Mishra, IFS special secretary cum Director Handloom, sericulture and Handicrafts and managing director. Jharcraft, Department of industry Government of Jharkhand and Mr. Kaushal Sinha from NABARD was also present. In his address the chief guest stated how these ventures will hold a great importance in promoting the handicrafts and handlooms and thereby helping us to take a step forward towards development.

Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi spoke about the importance of handloom in association with Indian culture and heritage. He also stated that in future plans to work in association with Jharcraft to create a platform for the children in the field of skill development.

On this occasion a speech competition was organised ,in which students of 6th to 9th took part and spoke on the topic Ways and Means to Enhance Handloom Potential in India. Children though being of such a tender age threw light on some of the great points which could be seriously on. Shristhi of class VII spoke about to be taken like cooperatives should be developed branding and handloom should be done enhance marketing. Kasturi of class VIII said that traditional significance highlighted about the traditional significance & cultural heritage is important 13 million people are employed in this sector.K kungshuk Banerjee of class VII stood first and Shiksha Akhouri of class VI stood second in the six to seven group and in the other group Adita Suyash of class IX stood first and Tejas of the same class stood second. The prizes were given away by Sri A.T . Mishra and Shri Kaushal Sinha and mementos were given to all the participants. The mementos were sponsored by Jharcraft and NABARD together.

This programme was highly appreciated by everyone and Jharcraft mission of creating opportunities and changing lives will surely be successful through such adventures.



Annual Day "Utsav-2015" (Junior Wing)

‘Live everyday like it’s a celebration and make every hour a happy hour’.

‘Utsav – 2015’ – a cultural extravaganza was unfolded by the students of classes IV and V, in the premises of Junior wing, Delhi Public School, Ranchi, Under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Ram Singh.

Chief guest Mr. M.S. Bhatia and guest of honour Mr. Rahul Sharma were ushered in by a budding team of students, acting in the persona of journalists. Amidst loud cheer and gaiety, saplings were gifted as a token of love and gratitude by the Principal Dr. Ram Singh. Students were encouraged by his kind words.
A small skit, emphasizing on the cleanliness drive, ‘Ek Kadam Swacchta Ki Ore’ was portrayed by the students instilling amidst all – the values of the epithet, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.” The campaign started by Prime-minister Modi was turned into reality by the portrayal of the children depicting ‘clean mind, ‘clean body’ and ‘clean heart’.

Followed close on heels was a dance-drama – ‘Samanvay’ – reflecting a coordination of seasons enthralled the audience giving the message that every season has its importance and all creatures have to live in harmony with nature.

Distribution of certificates, trophies to the meritorious students lead to the unveiling of ‘DIPS-Time’- the school magazine of the Junior wing. A musical treat ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’- an instrumental rendition savoured by all, filled the ambience with a serene look.

The celebration and festivities ended with an address by the chief guest M.S. Bhatia, who encouraged and blessed the students for their active participation in co-curricular activities as well as academics, Rendition of National anthem and a vote of thanks by the Head girl of the Junior wing.

Seminar on Good Parenting at DPS Ranchi

A seminar on good parenting was organized at Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 23rd July, 2015. The prime intention of this seminar was to deal with the nuances of the greatest responsibility entrusted upon us that is parenting. It is not only the greatest responsibility, but a crucial one as well,as it requires specialized skills.

The head of the institution while addressing the gathering clearly stated the significance of this seminar and said that – bringing up children today should always be a joint venture of both the parents and the teachers. Today’s children need constant support and guidance from the parents in order to deal with the problems and technicalities in their life. He was of the opinion that the Role of media, parents and school play an important role in the overall development of a child . It was also stated by him Education does not mean to get high percentage, but also to inculcate those values which will help in making a complete human being.

The parents who attended the seminar came up with questions like how to deal with over consciousness in a child or how to deal with a child if they are unable to take defeat etc. and these queries were beautifully handled by Sri Vishnu Rajgariya (Sociologist), Ms. Anupama Sinha (child physiologist), Dr. Shyam Sidan (Paediatrician), Mr. Naveen Kumar (Psychotherapist), Dr. Kunal Banka and Ms Rajnee Kumari. The resource persons unanimously agreed on the point that – the approach of parents in-handling the problems and they should never compare one child with the other. Issues like developmental psychology and abstract thinking were also discussed. The children who were present also came up with several queries and were happy that they were also given an opportunity to speak out their minds.

The seminar was on the whole highly enriching for the parents and they were happy to be well armed with all the skills to carry out this responsibility in an effective manner.


Inter School Swachh Bharat Mission Quiz at DPS Ranchi

Inter School Quiz Competition was organized in Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 22.07.2015 (Wednesday) to carry forward the ‘Swatch Bharat Abhiyan’ initiated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This interesting and knowledge enhancing Quiz was organized by Nagar Nigam Ranchi, assisted by District Education Department. The first citizen of Ranchi Smt. Asha Lakra, Mayor Ranchi Municipal Corporation was the chief guest for today’s program. Shri Sanjiv Vijayvargiya Depty. Mayor (RMC), Shri Prasant Kumar Municipal Commissioner, Shri Raj Kumar Prasad Singh District Education officer, Shri Om Prakash Sah Dept. Municipal Commissioner and other officials from the district education department and Ranchi Municipal Corporation and other distinguished guests were present on this occasion.

Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi extended a warm and hearty welcome to all the eminent guests and expressed heartfelt thanks to the district Education department for showing faith and trust in us for holding such an important program in our school. He also said cleanliness and sanitation are important for the progress of the country. The students should take the responsibility to do something extraordinary regarding this mission.
The first citizen of Ranchi i.e. Smt Asha Lakra, the Mayor of Ranchi gave a motivating speech in order to make the youngsters understand the necessity of bringing a sea-change in their approach for ensuring the progress of our motherland India by 2nd October, 2019. She made the children pledge to change in order to change our Nation. Many CBSE and ICSE schools of Ranchi participated in this Quiz, which was a grand success.
Delhi Public School, Ranchi emerged as the winner, followed by Vivekananda Vidya Mandir, Oxford Public School.

Workshop for Primary Students (14-07-2015)

Delhi Public School, Ranchi organized a workshop with CINI-‘Child In Need Institute’ for the students of Std-V in the school conference room under the aegis of the Principal, Dr. Ram Singh. The Principal stated that the students should be aware of the facts about the underprivileged children, women and adolescents.

The Resource persons from CINI ,Ms. Tanvi Jha, Ms. Nupur Ghosh and Mr. Tushar highlighted the policies of the ‘Integrated Child Scheme’ in which various issues like Child Labour, Child trafficking, Missing children, Malnourishment, Street children, Child marriage and the causes behind these, issues like poverty, lack of awareness, absence of livelihood opportunities, poor outstretch of government polices and no care mechanism at home were discussed.

The workshop concluded with the children being sensitized towards these matters and various programmes regarding the upliftment of children at the grass root level.


Workshop for Parents at DPS Ranchi on G.E.S.E (Graded Examination in Spoken English)

A workshop on G.E.S.E was conducted in DPS Ranchi on 4th July (Saturday). The resource person Mr. Sheldon Dias, Trinity examiner (Trinity College London) delivered a talk on Graded Examination in Spoken English. It was all about one to one, face to face oral assessments of speaking and listening skills, building confidence among candidates and related videos were shown to the parents present.

It’s suitable for all students, whatever their level, from absolute beginner to advanced accomplishment. Learners range from school or college students to mature learners from those who need to develop their English for educational reasons, to those who need to develop their English languages skills for professional purposes.

Announcement of Jharkhand Literature Festival 2015

Ranchi – 3rd July 2015 : A press conference was called to announce the Jharkhand Literature Festival 2015 today on the 3rd of July. Jharkhand Literature Festival is scheduled to happen on 4th- 6th of August 2015 at Delhi Public School, Ranchi. The logo for the event was also launched during the press conference.
It is the gnawing need for conducting literary fests in Jharkhand, to promote the immense latent talent hidden in the people here. To foster the spirit of literature among the teens, youth and the elderly is the main motive of Jharkhand Literature Festival 2015. This year the feat is involving 30 Private and Government Schools in the city and sub-urbs. Literature Festivals have been organized in various cities of the country, however, Agra and the Jaipur Literature Festivals are the one which are organized on a very large scale. The JLF 2015 will also have an equivalent level to its counterparts. A number of theme and panel discussions will constitute the 3 day event. Various best-Selling authors have consented to grace the occasion for encouraging the fine talent of pen that Jharkhand possess and boost them up for a global stage in the lime light. CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest at  DPS, Ranchi

The Second Edition of the CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest was once again hosted by Delhi Public School, Ranchi this year on 24-06-2015. Shri Sanjay Kumar, Principal Secretary to the chief minister of Jharkhand was the Chief Guest . The other distinguished guest who were present on this momentous occasion were Shri Sukhdeo Singh, Principal Secretary, Water Resources and Shri Vivek Kumar Singh, Principal, Secretary Dept. of Environment and Forest, Government of Bihar, Shri M.K. Burman G.M .(P&A)and pro vice chairman DPS Ranchi was also present. The programme began with the presentation of bouquets to our distinguished guests which was followed by the lighting of the lamp.
Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS Ranchi extended a warm and hearty welcome to all our revered guest and thanked them for their kind presence . In his welcome address he stated that along with academics building a holistic personality of the students is our forte and it was with this objective that such kind of programmes are conducted and hosted by us.

As many as 40 schools from all over Jharkhand participated in this contest and finally two teams which comprised of Spandan Chaturvedi and Chinmay Srivastava of DAV Gandhinagar and Anvesha Das and Mrinalini of Delhi Public School , Ranchi was selected for the National round to be held in New Delhi towards the end of the year.

Shri Sanjay Kumar while addressing the gathering said that excellent linguistic skill and mathematical ability are the primary requisites of good education. The Chief mentor of the Cryptic Crossword Contest Shri Vivek Kumar laid special emphasis on vocabulary building and lateral thinking.

A beautiful dance was presented by the Dipsites on the theme of conservation of water and Aham Brahmashmi – which means God resides within us.
AKME - 2015 complete result analysis booklet of the session 2014-15and a souvenir which has been compiled by the cryptic crossword team was also released today .

The event will eventually cover 34 cities and town in the country and the grand finale will be held in New Delhi towards the end of the year. The CCCC is a Cryptic crossword solving contest open to students of Classes IX-XII affiliated to The CBSE, The CISCE and any of the school boards. It consists of two rounds. In the city rounds two students suppose to solve written cryptic crossword puzzles in one hour. The winners of the city round will then go to the national capital for the Grand finale to vie for the National Crossword Champion trophy.

The program ended with the rendition of the National Anthem.




The week long summer camp came to an end with the closing ceremony which was organized in Delhi Public School Ranchi on 17-05-2015. Shri R.K. Mallick (I.G., S.T.F) was the Chief Guest for today’s programme. The programme began by paying a floral tribute to all our revered guests and this was followed by the lightning of the lamp. The other distinguished guests who were present on this occasion were Shri A.K.Sharms (IFS, Chief Forest Conservator), Shri Rahul Sharma (MNREGA Commissioner, Jharkhand), Shri Amit Khare (IAS, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development), Smt. Nidhi Khare (IAS, Adviser, Planning Commission), Shri Sunil Kumar Barnwal (IAS) and Shri Rahul Purwar (MD Electricity Board, JSEB).

Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi in his welcome address extended a warm and hearty welcome to all our distinguished guests and he also stated that he was highly indebted to the parents for sending their children to this exciting summer camp. He also stated he strongly believes that co-curricular activities is an integral part of a students all round development. It was also stated by him that such camps come as a refreshing change in our otherwise monotonous lives.
This programme showcased different kinds of talents that the children have imbibed during the week long summer camp. The summer camp comprised of several activities like football, badminton, cricket, table tennis, athletics, Yoga ,music and dance, art and craft to name a few.

The vibrant and energetic dance which was a combination of dance and aerobics was a testimony to the hard work that the children have put in. The audience was totally energized by their wonderful presentation and some of them were found tapping their foot along with their dances.
The rendition of the beautiful songs mesmerized the audience completely and so did the Yoga presentation. DPS in its mission to give an exposure to global education, trained the children to present a French and a German song. The joy of the parents was clearly visible when they saw their children speaking French and German with utmost confidence. As a mark of appreciation all the 700 children who were a part of the summer camp were given certificates by the Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour.

The Chief Guest congratulated children whole heartedly and said that these types of activities help children to not only have fun and unwind themselves but also to learn some values which would enable them to become responsible and confident citizens of tomorrow.

Satyam and Akshita of class IX share their wonderful experience and show did Ritiraj and Nasita Imam of Class - V. They were of the opinion that this summer camp was an experience of life time and they are looking forward to more such camps in the years to come
The Programme ended with vote of thanks and the rendition of the National Anthem.


Fun –filled Summer Camp at DPS Ranchi

Vacations are always welcome but to make it a little more interesting and fun filled Delhi Public School Ranchi has organized a Summer Camp for the children of Classes III – IX. Summer Camp was flagged off by Dr Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi on 11th May 2015. This Camp has been Organized for a week i.e. 11th - 17th May 2015 . The Timing for the Summer Camp will be 7.00 A.M – 10.00 A.M and Transport will be provided for the same.

Experienced mentors from various fields will be there to guide the children in a host of sporting disciplines such as Football, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis for both boys and girls and Cricket for boys. As we all know that creativity in any form is a joy beyond measure and to make the children experience this elation Art and Craft classes will be conducted along with French and German classes . Around 550 students have enrolled for this exciting Summer Camp.

Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS, Ranchi is of the opinion that today’s youth is a bundle of energy – active smart and technosavy , all they need is a little bit of guidance so that they can come out with their full potential. He is also of the opinion that quality education means education which imparts holistic growth of a child and Delhi Public School Ranchi not only believes in this but also practices it.

The prime objective of this camp is not only to create awareness about fitness but also to impart various techniques and skills which will make them sturdy citizens with robust optimism and indomitable spirit to face all challenges of life.

Investiture Ceremony at DPS Ranchi

The Investiture Ceremony for the school appointees for the session 2015-16 was organized in a grand manner on 9.5.2015 at Delhi Public School Ranchi. The Chief Guest for today’s program was Shri Manish Ranjan Director Education Jharkhand and Shri Sanjay Prasad Chairman Tribunal & Taxation was the Guest of Honour.

The Oath was administered by the chief guest for the appointees of the senior section and for the junior section it was administered by the Guest of Honour.

Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS, Ranchi extended a warm welcome to all the distinguished guests, Parents and the people from the media. In his speech he highlighted the importance of teaching values like sense of respect and responsibility so that they stand apart in a crowd through their qualities. It is rightly said that building one’s personality is as important as obtaining success in academics and it is with this idea that DPS Ranchi has entrusted their children with the responsibility of maintain the decorum and discipline of the school. He also thanked the parents for their kind presence .

The chief guest while the addressing the leaders of tomorrow spoke about certain qualities that a leader should have they are – effort - try hard to achieve , to excel , positive attitude and positive thinking , perseverance and importance of time management. He explained all these factors through interesting stories related to the lives of great scientists like Thomas Alva Edison etc. He also stated that a good leader should not highlight problems but should try to find solutions.

In the primary wing the selection procedure was done in a very innovative way which taught them the principles of democracy, in the senior wing the children were highly excited because after going through the preliminary rounds of interview for the final round the students had to face a volley of question fired by our exemplary Principal Dr. Ram Singh. The head boy Vivek Gupta expressed his elation by saying that “it feels good to be selected as the head boy of one of the most prestigious institution of the city,but along with this comes great responsibilities as well and I will try my best to discharge my duties dutifully”. Aaryaka Nidhi who has been selected as a head girl said that it was a wonderful experience According to Aakash Kumar newly appointed additional head boy said that the interview was a breath taking experience. It was also stated by him that he will always remain loyal to the school and in discharging all his duties. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Head Boy and the Grand Ceremony came to an end with the rendition of the National Anthem.



Students Election Day

Delhi Public School Ranchi held its students Council Body election here in its school premises on 7th May 2015 for the post of Head Boy and Head Girl of Junior Wing.

After rigorous rounds of interviews taken by the Selection Committee , 6 students were selected for the final round. All these students were given chance to put their best face forward through campaigning speeches. The enthusiastic students confidently choose the best among them by casting votes. Voting took place by secret ballot under supervision of teachers. The election system made students understand the importance of “Universal Adult Franchise” – right to vote.

Schools much experienced and dynamic Principal Dr. Ram Singh took the initiative to introduce the system of selection through election which proof to be much successful. Dr Ram Singh advised the students not to shy away from any learning opportunity. He congratulated the students selected for final round and said joining the students’ council is a fun way to get involved with school affairs for the benefit of students. He further told that students’ council election would inculcate the knowledge and concept of democracy among the students.

It was a celebration day for not only the nominees but also the voters as all of them realised their important role in election.


Book Fair at DPS Ranchi

Delhi Public School, Ranchi along with scholastic inaugurated a book fair in the premises of DPS on 05.05.2015. This fair will go on for five days (5th May 2015- 9th May 2015) and will be open from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm . In keeping with the idea that every student should be encouraged to become a life long reader this initiative has been taken by Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS, Ranchi. He is of the opinion that man is not a mere child of instinct, it is brain power that makes a difference between him and animals hence love for books ought to be man’s natural inclination .

The children of classes VI – VIII were of the opinion that they found the books of ‘Roald Dahl’ to be the most fascinating one . The section which had books based on well known cartoon character like Ben 10, Spider Man was the centre of attraction. A wide variety of books right from fiction to non fiction, books on historical facts, books on amazing discoveries, educational books like Isaac Newton and his apple, More Murderous Maths etc. were on display and each child was free to select as per their choice. Shivangi of class VII – E – found the Books on Science & Space , and Ghost stories by Goosebumps to be the most interesting, Arya of the same class was of the opinion that reading helps in improving their creative skills.

On the whole the fair was a grand success and surely the Slogan ‘Adding 10 minutes a day to a child’s reading makes a big difference over the year’ will turn out to be true. The culture of good reading habit calls for a kind of cooperation in which the authorities, the teachers as well as the parents, must be involved and it is with this idea in mind that DPS organized this book fair.


Students of DPS Ranchi Awarded for 100% Attendance

The students of Delhi Public School, Ranchi were felicitated for their regularity to school throughout the year on 02-05-2015. The recipients were extremely excited about the event as it was the first time in the history of DPS Ranchi that an award ceremony for 100% Attendance was organized. Shri Manoj Kumar, DC, Ranchi was the Chief Guest and Shri Prabhat Kumar Senior SP of Ranchi was the Guest of Honour . Shri M. K. Burman Pro Vice – Chairman DPS Ranchi and GM P&A RDCIS SAIL was also present for this award ceremony .

The Ceremony began with the melodious welcome song which was presented by our school choir which was followed by the presentation of bouquets to the distinguished guests. Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS Ranchi extended a warm welcome to all the distinguished guests and while addressing the gathering he said that values like regularity and sincerity are very important for the all round development of a child and education is the common medium by which such values can be acquired. He appreciated the parents for their kind co-operation in sending the children regularly to school. DPS Ranchi is a school with a difference where we are always trying to instill those qualities which will empower the children to face all kinds of challenges in this competitive world.
Around 200 students were awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation and a memento for 100% Attendance. The Chief Guest for today Shri Manoj Kumar appreciated this noble initiative taken up by none other than Dr. Ram Singh a man of vision and mission. He also said that punctuality leads to satisfaction in life. Shri Prabhat Kumar who was the Guest of Honour said that he salutes the parents for the pain and trouble they have taken to send their children regularly to school. It was also stated by him that this also shows the sacrifices done by the parents in bringing up their children.

Parents of these children who received this special prize were highly indebted to the Principal for initiating this prize because this would motivate the children to be regular in school and would thus help them to be disciplined in life.
The Programme came to an end with the vote of thanks which was followed by the rendition of the National Anthem which again is a symbol of Discipline and Sincerity.

Financial Literacy Session at DPS Ranchi

A Financial Literary Session was conducted by Reserve Bank of India, Ranchi office at Delhi Public School Ranchi on 30-04-2015. The programme was attended by around 250 students of the commerce stream.

Shri Amit Sinha AGM RBI Ranchi, Shri Amrendra Gupta, Shri Rishi Ranjan Manager RBI and Shri Dheeraj Kumar Branch Manager SBI, Satellite Branch were present to conduct the above mentioned session. They discussed extensively about the functions of RBI, Salient features of bank notes, Awareness about fictitious offers of money and Banking Ombudsmen scheme. This was followed by a quizzing round in which questions like what is a ‘White level ATM’? What does ‘IFSC stands for’? etc. was asked and the children came up with prompt answers which made the entire programme extremely lively and interactive.

Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi extended a warm and hearty welcome to all the distinguished guests and thanked them for coming and sharing such valuable information which would help the children in the long run. It was also pointed out by him that such sessions would not only help the students to clear their doubts related to the Financial sector but also help them in deciding the right career for them.

Ravisha of Class XII K asked the resource persons about the “difference between Current A/c Convertibility and Capital A/c Convertibility” and Shrishti of the same class was happy to get her doubts clarified regarding the “difference between Call Money and Notice Money”.

The children were extremely enthusiastic throughout the session and they were also of the opinion that it was a highly informative session, Rishika of class XII M said that it was a unique session as it was for the first time that they were imparted such valuable practical knowledge which would be of great help in their life.


Ministry of Skill Development and Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of India at DPS Ranchi on 22.03.2015

State level Seminar on Vocational and Skill Education for Principals of CBSE, ICSE, and Jharkhand Board Schools was organized at Delhi Public School Ranchi for Principals, teachers and parents on 22.03.2015. Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State, Ministry of Skill Development and Parliamentary affairs, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest and Shri R.P. Singh, IFS, Director Jharkhand Skill Development Mission was the Guest of Honour.

The other distinguished guests who attended the programme were Shri Sunil Singh, M.P. The 3 day long Regional Level Science Exhibition came to an end on 07.02.2015. Smt. Himani Pandey , Secretary Industry ,Jharkhand was the Chief Guest for the Valedictory session. The Chief Guest in her speech motivated the students and appreciated their deep involvement and creative spirit in presenting such an interesting as well impressive show. Special emphasis was laid by her on originality and she said that children should be fair in exhibiting their creativity. 15 models have been selected for the National Level.

CBSE Regional Level Science Exhibition

With a view to encourage, popularize and inculcate scientific temperament among the children, CBSE organized “Regional Level Science Exhibition” in DPS, Ranchi from 5.02.2015 to 07.02.2015. The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri. Sanjay Prasad Chairman Commercial Tax Tribunal Ranchi. This exhibition is held every year where children showcase their talents in science and their applications in different areas related with everyday life. In order to ensure the widest possible participation and involvement of students and teachers, CBSE organizes this in two phases. In the first phase, exhibits are held at State level and the best entries from here go to the National Level.

Debate on Clean Jharkhand Drive in DPS Ranchi

DPS, Ranchi in collaboration with “The Times of India” organized a debate competition on 3rd February, 2015 in Delhi Public School, Ranchi. This special occasion was graced by the Honourable Chief Minister Shree Raghubar Das who was the Chief Guest for today's program. This debate has been organized in keeping with the mission of our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi – to make India clean by October 2, 2019. The prime objective of this debate was to give an opportunity to the students to present their views and recommendations that will benefit the country and the government in accomplishing this task.

DPS Ranchi Celebrates Republic Day with Great Pomp & Show

The 66th Republic Day of our country was celebrated in the school premises of Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 26.01.2015 kindling the true fervor of patriotism among the children. Dr Ram Singh, Principal, DPS, Ranchi hoisted the flag reminding us the significance and importance of the tri colour. After this the students of class XI and a contingent of the Junior Wing Children presented a spectacular show by marching along with the drum beat.

This was followed by a fiery speech by our Principal and through his speech he paid homage to all those leaders who have struggled hard and given us this wonderful gift of freedom. The school choir presented some patriotic songs after this and the programme came to an end with the National Anthem.


Farewell Ceremony of the 2014-15 Batch in DPS Ranchi

A Grand Farewell Ceremony was organised for the 2014-15 batch of Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 27.01.2015 in the school auditorium. The programme began with a prayer service to wish them success and luck in all their endeavors. This was followed by the speech by our honourable Principal Dr. Ram Singh. He blessed them and told that the DPS Family will always be there with them whenever they need their help and guidance. He also gave them some valuable tips so that they can excel in their exams and take DPS to greater heights.

After this some of the children shared their experience ' The glorious 13 years of their Life' which brought a tear in our eye and a lump in our throat. This was followed by a short cultural programme which was presented by the students of class XI. On the whole it was a huge success and was highly appreciated by all those who attended the programme.

GESE Workshop in DPS Ranchi

A workshop graded examination in spoken English (GESE) was held in Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 20.01.2015. This has been by organized by Orient Black Swan a renowned publishing house from Hyderabad. Smt. Sheila J. Kurien Vice President marketing of Orient Black Swan was the resource person. CBSE in collaboration with Trinity College London has designed this programme to implement the Assessment of speaking and listening skills in class IX and XI. GESE would help the children to be future ready and appear in the ASL with much more confidence as children will be graded right from time they are enrolled in school. The objective of Trinity’s GESE is to develop strong communication skills in English. They are one to one oral exam that test candidate’s ability in listening & speaking.

Reading Challenge Workshop at DPS Ranchi

A 3-day workshop started in DPS Ranchi on 21st Jan,2015  for the 230 students from Classes Prep – VIII, who had participated in the Reading Challenge programme, which was launched by British Council. DPS  Ranchi, being the trendsetter, had taken  up the  reading challenge programme under the able guidance of  Principal Dr. Ram Singh, where the students were supposed to read 6 books in 6 weeks. After the successful completion of this challenge this work shop is being held which comprises of various activities in writing, speaking and online programmes to explore ways to use different tools as medium of learning. The  workshop webbed around the themes – Big  Wild Read and Team Read chosen by the school.

Project- Model Exhibition at DPS Ranchi

Students of DPS Ranchi won many hearts with their innovative ideas and attractive displays of their exhibits in different subjects Science, Maths, Social Science, English, Hindi and Sanskrit. Senior wing of the school had their exhibition on 13 December and the Junior wing got to display their creativity on 14 of December. Dr B K Jha, ED, RDCIS, SAIL was the Chief Guest for this Project-Model Exhibition. This event was remarkable also for the fact that this exhibition saw a huge participation of students.

Annual Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm

Students of DPS Ranchi presented a fantastic show on the occasion of Annual Day Celebration of the school on Nov 25 & 26, 2014. Mr Ashok Kr Singh, ADG, Railways graced the occasion as the Chief Guest on the first day. The programme began with a melodious welcome song. The students of Senior Secondary section presented a beautiful portrayal of Tagore’s dance-drama , "Chitrangada" which showed that the inner beauty of a person is above all. Meritorious students were awarded with scholar blazers for excellence in academics. The Chief Guest advised the students to set a high goal for themselves and encouraged them to strive hard to achieve that.

Mr R. K. Mallick, IG, STF was invited as the hon’ble Chief Guest for the second day of celebration, which was again made remarkable by the enthralling performance of students. Students getting 91% and above in all the subjects were awarded with scholar badges. Students of Class XI showed their acting talent when they staged the Shakespearean play, "The Taming of Shrew" with great precision. Principal Dr Ram Singh said that school is a place which hones the artistic skill and creative ability of its students and such programmes give platform to children to showcase their talent. Participation of students in a large number was the highlight of this programme.


First Inter- school Know for Sure State Quiz at DPS Ranchi

DPS Ranchi witnessed the magical presence of the renowned quizmaster Mr Siddarth Basu when the school hosted the first Know for Sure Inter-school State Quiz competition on 17 Nov,2014. He left everyone mesmerized with his wit and charm at the final round of this quiz and entertained one and all. He also involved the audience by asking questions from them. Several schools of the state of Jharkhand participated in this competition and after the written test, 6 schools made it to the finals. The final round consisted of questions from different walks of life and the students of DAV Gandhinagar emerged as winners. The host school DPS Ranchi was the second runner up in this competition. Dr Hemlata S. Mohan, former Chairperson, Jharkhand State Women’s Commission and Mr M K Barman, Pro-VC, DPS Ranchi were the distinguished guests present on the occasion. Dr Ram Singh, Principal, DPS Ranchi expressed his thanks to Mr siddharth Basu for giving a memorable day to the students. He advised the students to sharpen their quizzing ability as it enhances their aptitude and mental ability.


Run for Unity

United we stand, Divided we fall.

On the occasion of the birthday of great Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Oct 31 ,2014 national unity day was celebrated in Delhi Public School Ranchi where several competitions were held amongst the students from 17 schools. Almost 525 students participated in the run for unity.

Chief Guest, honourable state education minister, Mr Jayant Kumar Mishra, motivated and inspired the students, to work towards achieving and protecting national unity.


Derek O’Brien and Associates conducted a quiz in DPS Ranchi with Angelo Gonsalves from Kolkata as the quiz master, it was an amazing experience for the students and it presented a perfect opportunity to improve their quiz skills like quick thinking and communication etc.

Suicide Prevention Seminar

The biggest strength that our country has is its human capital , and the value of a person’s life is unequivocal . Addressing the students of class 11th in Delhi Public School , in the workshop organised on the occasion of anti-suicide day, Sept 10, 2014 ex –director of RINPAS Dr Amool Ranjan , explained how, suicide is the outcome of a series of negative thoughts over a period of time. Supporting him Principal Dr Ram Singh emphasised on the Importance of such works in helping the students stay positive and motivated.

Workshop on Mathematics for Teachers on 25th & 26th July 2014

Two days Nationwide sensitization workshop on mathematics for teachers and activists held in Delhi Public School, Ranchi, supported by National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) Govt. of India. Honourable Chief Guest Dr. B. K. Jha, ED, RDCIS, SAIL inaugurated the programme. He quoted Mathematics plays very important role in persons day to day life. Mathematics is magic, it can make the world very beautiful.

Resource persons were Dr. Arvind Ranade Scientist from Noida Centre Vigan Prasar department of Science and Technology. Dr. Kapil Tripathi, Scientist Vigan Prasar (Dept. of Science and Technology). Dr. K .C. Prasad, Regional Co-ordinator of Jharkhand RMO, INMO. National Board of Higher Mathematics under the department of Atomic Energy Commission , Mr. Subash Pagrut (AKOLA Maharastra), Mr. Rajnarayan Rajouriya from (Bhind). The main objectives of this workshop was to sensitize the teachers towards the development of mathematics, to identify the basic difficulties faced by teachers while teaching mathematics.

  • Under the out reach Programme Vigan Prasar is planning to organise many such programmes in different parts of country.

A group of students of DPS, Ranchi presented a dance based on “Guru Brahma Gur Vishnu Guru Devo maheshwari" followed by Saraswati Vandana. Dr. Arvind Ranande has thrown light on the worKs of Vigyan Prasar.



Closing Ceremony of Silver Jubilee of DPS Ranchi

17 July 2014, DPS Ranchi turned 25 and the year long celebrations came to an end on this day with a promise by the students and the staff to take the school to a greater height. The day became all the more special with the gracious presence of the Governor of Jharkhand, His Excellency, Sr Syed Ahmad as the Chief Guest. The theme of the event was a 'Glimpse of India'. The students of the school showed the glimpse of the folk culture of different states of India. Instrumental by a group of students playing variety of instruments won the hearts of audience. The Hon'ble Governor, Dr Syed Ahmad emphasised on giving moral education to the students in order to build a strong nation. The Principal, Dr Ram Singh congratulated the students and the staff members on this auspicious day.



CBSE Organises Cryptic Crossword Contest 2014

DPS Ranchi celebrated its Silver Jubilee on 16 July 2014 and on this occasion hosted the city round of Cryptic Crossword Contest organised by CBSE which was launched by none other than the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Sri Hemant Soren who was the Chief Guest for this occasion. Smt Geetashri Oraon, Minister of Human Resources, State of Jharkhand was the Guest of Honour for this event. The icing on the cake was that winners of this city round contest were the students of the host school, Delhi Public School, Ranchi Agnimitra Anand and Aditya Sinha of class XI. They will be competing with the winners of other cities in the national round. Students of DPS Ranchi presented beautiful dance performances from different states of India thus bringing a fresh wave of the cultural diversity of India.


A Workshop on ‘STUDENT –TEACHER RELATIONSHIP’ was conducted in Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 12th July, 2014. The Workshop was based on empowering the teachers with basic skills to handle social and emotional issues of the students. Mrs. Saloni Priya from Kolkata was the resource who conducted the workshop. She is a psychologist, HR Trainer and an educationist by profession.

She is also Director of an Organization called ‘Umeed’ which deals with counseling and consulting services.

Various schools of the city along with the staff members of Delhi Public School participated in the Workshop.
This programme was sponsored by Bharti Bhawan Publishers.

The workshop has definitely empowered the teachers with different techniques of handling the emotional and the adolescent problems of the students.

The workshop has also inspired the teachers to bring in a change in the technique of handling the students in the classroom and to cope up with the changing times.



Investiture Ceremony at DPS Ranchi

Young leaders took oath of service, duty and dedication when the Investiture Ceremony took place in Delhi Public School, Ranchi for the office bearers of senior and junior wing. On 30th June 2014, the chief guest of the occasion, Additional Director General of Police,Govt of Jharkhand, Shri S.S. Pradhan administered the oath to all the school and house appointees. S.M. Aseer has been appointed the Head Boy of the school and Indira Chakravarty is the Head Girl of the institution. On this occasion, Additional head boy and head girl, Deputy head boy and girl, Cultural secretary (boy & girl), Sports captain (boy & girl) also took the oath to serve the institution.

emphasised upon the need of discipline in life to be successful. For the juniors , the Investiture took place on 3rd July, 2014. ED(I/C) ,SAIL, Shri R.K. Rathi and Mrs. Vineeta Rathi were the chief guest for this event. Bhushit Sardana has been elected the Head Boy and Asfia Fatima the Head Girl of the Junior Wing of DPS Ranchi. In the Junior Section, the selection of school & house appointees took place through democratic method of voting. The appointees were jubilant after getting the sashes, badges and flags. Principal Dr. Ram Singh said that the school creates future leaders and instills confidence in them to take up major tasks in life.

Felicitation of High Achievers

DPS Ranchi felicitated the candidates who secured 90% and above in the Class XII Board examination in a ceremony held on 26 June 2014. Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Prabhat Kumar adorned the occasion as the Chief Guest. He gave away the awards to the High Achievers and wished them the best for future. Principal Dr Ram Singh congratulated them for bringing laurels to the school.

CBSE Workshop on ASL

Central Board of Secondary Education conducted a workshop on ASL (Assessment of Speaking and Listening skills) for the CBSE schools of the East zone at DPS Ranchi. The Resource Persons for this training programme, which was held on 22 and 23 November 2013, were Mr Ashwini Kr Sahu and Mr Vipin Singh Chauhan from O P Jindal School, Raigarh. The Chief Guest for this workshop was Dr P K Barhai, Vice-Chancellor, BIT Mesra and Sri Sanjeev Kumar, DGM, Corporate Planning, MECON was present on this occasion as the Guest of Honour. Around 100 teachers from various schools of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh received training at this workshop. . ASL, which is a pilot project of CBSE, aims at enhancing the speaking and listening skills of students. The participating teachers were informed about the ways to conduct these assessments properly and to record the students’ performance at speaking tests.

Vaccination Awareness and Plantation Campaign at DPS Ranchi

A campaign was launched  in DPS Ranchi on 29 October 2013 to create awareness for vaccination and tree plantation with the slogan “ Plant Trees and Save Life”. Former Hockey players of India, Sri Manohar Topno and Sri Silvanus Dungdung were present on this event to inspire children. Sri Topno said that regular vaccination is very important to prevent contagious and deadly diseases among children and also stressed upon the need  to plant trees. Principal of the school, Sri J Mohanty reiterated the need to be educated for health and environmental awareness. This programme was supported by the Health Deptt of India, World Health Organization and the Times of India.

Students Get Lessons about United Nations

On the eve of United Nations Day, an interactive session was organized for the students of Class VIII to XII on 23 Oct 2013 at DPS Ranchi. The esteemed guests for the occasion were Sri Job Zachariah, Chief of UNICEF for the state of Jharkhand and Ms. Moira Dawa, state Coordinator, UNICEF. Sri Zachariah addressed the students and enlightened them on the objectives and functions of UNICEF. He said that health and wealth of any developing country rests upon the educational development of society and the money spent on education should not be treated as expenditure rather an investment. Ms. Moira Dawa appealed to the students to be a helping hand in the eradication of problems like child labour. The students were informed about the contribution of UNICEF and other UN bodies in the areas like health, education, eradication of poverty and child labour.

DPS Ranchi Mesmerized by the Sarod Maestro

The auditorium of DPS Ranchi echoed with the tunes played by the renowned Sarod player Ayan Ali Khan on 28 July 2013. The audience, which included the dignitaries like the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Sri P Bhatt and the Principal Secretary to the Governor Sri N N Sinha and the students, teachers and parents, was spell bound by the melodious instrumental performance given by the very talented son of the Sarod legend Amzad Ali Khan. The programme was organized by Spic Macay. The Principal of the school Sri J Mohanty felicitated the great artist and expressed his gratefulness to him for his splendid performance in DPS Ranchi.



Celebrations over Completion of 25 years of school

Delhi Public School Ranchi started the year-long celebration to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the school. The programme was inaugurated on 4 August 2013 and the esteemed Chief Guest for the occasion was Sri Ashok Chandra, Chairman, DPS Society. On this auspicious day, top ranking students and the teachers and staff members who have been serving the institution for last 20 years were felicitated by Sri Ashok Chandra, Guest of Honour Sri Manas Ranjan Panda, Executive Director (HRD), SAIL, MIT Ranchi and Special Guest Sri D S Nigam, GM (RDCIS) and Pro VC, DPS Ranchi.
Sri Chandra talked about the objective of DPS and said that it aims at not creating money making machines out of children but at making them sensitized adults. He said that DPS Ranchi is able to induce that quality in its children. Sri J Mohanty expressed his pleasure at the tremendous performance of the school in academics as well as co-curricular activities.
Students presented an array of cultural programmes to make the occasion memorable.

Conclave for the Better Future of Students

Ranchi Sahodaya Complex took a major step towards strengthening the future of the students and the teacher-student relationship and for this organized the first Conclave of Eastern India “Prayas” on 1 Sept 2013. DPS Ranchi was the venue for this programme where experts were there from different fields to share their knowledge and guide the school fraternity. There were people from politics like MP Sri Inder Singh Namdhari, dignitaries from administration, lawyers, psychologists and media people. This conclave was attended by the teachers, students and parents.

Debate Competition by IIM, Ranchi Chapter

The Indian Institute of Metals which promotes education and practice of science and engineering of metals and alloys organized an Inter School Debate Competition on 27th April 2013 at DPS, Ranchi. Students from all the prestigious schools of Ranchi participated. It consisted of two groups, students from class IX – X had the topic on ‘Nuclear Energy is better than renewable energy’ while the senior group (XI – XII) had to debate on ‘Dependency of Indian Economy on steel sector’. It was again the time of celebration for the students of DPS, Ranchi as Arundhati Mahapatro of class XII, won the 1st Prize, Arshiya of class X received the 2nd Prize and Ayushi Choudhary of class XII bagged the 3rd Prize.

Workshop on CCE at DPS

A workshop on CCE was conducted at Delhi Public School on 6th April, 2013. Teachers of primary level to senior secondary level participated. The Resource Person for the workshop was B. Singh, Managing Director Urja, a unit of education consultancy.

It was emphasized that CCE aims at encouraging and motivating students to be positive in their attitude also to provide comprehensive knowledge and exposure using audio- visual aids and slides. The activities should be child centred based on students interest and talent.

Teachers’ Training Workshop

On 23rd March 2013 Delhi Public School Ranchi organized two days long workshop on Self Development for teachers. The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr. Sharada Nayak chairperson DPS, Ranchi. The Guest of Honour Dr. Vinod Arora was the Resource Person. All subject teachers took active part in the workshop. It helped in widening the thinking process and broadening their horizon. Innovative techniques were discussed. Principal, Shri J. Mohanty also spared his valuable time in learning and promoting teachers to continue learning and practicing new skills.

Celebration of Swami Vivekanand’s 150th Birth Anniversary

Delhi Public School took the privilege to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand on 2nd Feb, 2013. It was also celebrated as ‘National Youth Day’. Talented students were given opportunity to show their skills and competency in Intra-Inter School speech Competition as well as Art and Craft Competition. The speech competition was organized in which many schools from Ranchi had participated. Chief Guest for this occasion was a great educationist and a philanthropist Swami Shashakanandji who gave an inspirational speech to motivate the students.

Prizes were distributed to the winners. Shri J. Mohanty congratulated the winners and encouraged the participants which seemed to be more rewarding and inspiring.

The Dancing Legend Visits DPS

The ace Kathak dancer Shobhana Narain graced the Delhi Public School with her visit on 23 January 2013 and mesmerized the audience with her graceful dance performance. She was here for the promotion of Indian culture and the representing dance forms as she is an ambassador of Spic Macay. A member of DPS Society, Ms Shobhana Narain talked to students on the importance of preserving our culture and the environment. She performed her famous ‘Draupadi Vastraharan’ for the audience and her grace and poise were worth watching. She explained different ‘mudras’ to the students and her presence on the stage of the school auditorium was highly inspiring for the budding classical dancers of school.

Inauguration of Auditorium & Annual Day Celebration

3rd December 2012 was a remarkable day in the annals of DPS, Ranchi. The newly constructed auditorium was inaugurated by the esteemed Chief Guest for the ceremony, Shri Ashok Chandra, Chairman, DPS, Society. The Guests of Honour for the occasion were Dr. (Smt.) Sharda Nayak, Chairperson Managing Committee, DPS, Ranchi and Shri S. Varadarajan, (ED) RDCIS, SAIL. The Pro Vice-Chairman of DPS, Ranchi Dr. Ram Avatar, GM (RT), RDCIS was also present on the eventful day. This momentus day was also observed as the Annual Day of the school. Shri J. Mohanty welcomed all the dignitaries and thanked all the concerned people for their whole-hearted support for the construction of this auditorium. He also presented the Annual Report of the school and talked about the glorious achievements of students.
Dr. Sharda Nayak said that this was the best auditorium she had seen in the country. Shri Ashok Chandra expressed his pleasure at the coming up of a beautiful auditorium and laid emphasis on the kind of infrastructure which helps the children excel in different fields. Meritorious students were presented blue blazers for their brilliant performance in academics and some others were awarded for doing extraordinarily well in co-curricular activities. This day became memorable for some teaching and non-teaching staff members who were felicitated for their long service to the school.
Enthralling cultural programme encompassing a fusion dance, a thought provoking awareness act `Let’s Go Green’ by the tiny tots and a dance-drama based on Tagore’s ‘Chandalika’ added to the glitz of the show.
Eminent personalities from administration & Police, Principals of different school and people from Press & Media were also present as distinguished guests on the occasion.

Inauguration of Sports Extravaganza at DPS Ranchi

DPS Ranchi extended a warm welcome to all 40 teams and around 250 players from all over the country who had come to participate in the National Level Inter-DPS Badminton Tournament( for Boys) and Zonal Inter-DPS Cricket Tournament (Boys) in the open category in the Inauguration Ceremony organized on 14 October 2012. This sporting event is to be held from 14 to 17 October 2012. Padmashree Sri S L Dhawan, Member, DPS Society graced the occasion with his benign presence as the Chief Guest. Sri S Varadarajan, ED,RDCIS,SAIL was the Guest of Honour and Sri J C Pant, Principal, DPS Bulandshahar was the special guest on this mega sports event. Sri Aditya Swaroop,Principal Secretary to the Govt of Jharkhand and Dr Ram Avatar, GM(RT),RDCIS & Pro VC, DPS,Ranchi were the other distinguished guests for this inaugural function. Sri J Mohanty, Principal, DPS Ranchi welcomed all the dignitaries and gave best wishes to all the participants. Sri S L Dhawan talked about changing the attitude towards games and asked the students to keep their spirits high.

The inauguration ceremony was studded with hoisting the flag of the tournament by the revered guests present on the occasion followed by an enthusiastic march past by all the participating teams. White pigeons and colourful balloons added the charm and festivity to the occasion. The participants took oath to abide by the rules and uphold the integrity of the game. Torch was lighted and the Meet was declared open by Sri S L Dhawan. Cultural programme consisting of a beautiful welcome song and a splendid dance performance reflecting hope and energy by almost 250 students uplifted the mood of the players. The Opening Ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Sri S M Omair, Head Master, DPS Ranchi.

Teacher's Day Celebration

On 5th September 2012, all the teachers of DPS, Ranchi got together to commemorate the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sarvapalli Dr Radhakrishnan. The pro-Vice Chairman of the school, Dr Ram Avatar  and the LMC members were present to grace the occasion. The programme started with lighting of the lamp and Dr Radhakrishnan was paid tribute by everyone present on the occasion. The dignitaries present congratulated the teachers and in their speeches, emphasized on their significant role in students' development.

Independence Day celebrated in DPS Ranchi

Delhi Public School, Ranchi celebrated the 66th Independence Day of India in high spirits. On 15 August 2012, the Principal, staff and the students paid homage to the nation and vowed to uphold its liberty, dignity and solidarity. The Principal of the school Sri J Mohanty unfurled the tricolour and encouraged the students to make an earnest endeavor to contribute to the nation in a constructive way. There was an array of beautiful cultural programmes to adorn the occasion which were presented by the enthusiastic students completely immersed in the hues of patriotism.


DPS Ranchi Hosts First Alumni Meet

Delhi Public School Ranchi celebrated its first reunion of old students on 31 July 2012.The programme started with lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest for this occasion Shri S Varadarajan, ED I/C RDCIS, SAIL and the Guest of Honour Dr Ram Avatar, GMRT,RDCIS & Pro Vice Chairman of DPS Ranchi. The Principal Shri J Mohanty welcomed the distinguished guests and the alumni of DPS Ranchi. He expressed his pleasure at their arrival and wished them the best for their future. Shri Varadarajan appreciated the students’ efforts and said that school has been doing a wonderful job. Songs and instrumental adorned the programme and entertained the audience. The ex-students shared their experiences of the school and said they are extremely happy to come back to their alma mater.

e-Raksha Campaign Launched from DPS Ranchi

On 24 July 2012 DPS Ranchi became the launchpad of a very important campaign, e-Raksha, which has been initiated by Cyber Defence Research Centre of the special branch of Jharkhand Police. The e-Raksha campaign was inaugurated in the auditorium of the school by Shri G S Rath,DGP, Jharkhand. The convenor of this safety drive was Shri S N Pradhan, IG, Special Branch. The e-Raksha holds a great importance as cyber crime poses a big challenge in today’s world and it aims at making young users of internet responsible and safe. Shr i J Mohanty welcomed the esteemed guests and thanked them for selecting DPS Ranchi for launching the campaign. Shri Rath emphasized on the safe use of internet as it has become an indispensable part of our lives. Shri S N Pradhan informed that in case of being affected by cyber crime ,complaint can be lodged on the online complaint system of Jharkhand Police e-Solution. The students present in the programme were highly benefitted by the information provided. Shri Anurag Gupta,IGCI, Shri R K Mallik,IG, Shri M S Bhatia, Zonal IG, Sheetal Oraon, DIG, Shri R Mishra, CMD, HEC were the other distinguished guests present on this momentous occasion.

Interaction with Parents

DPS Ranchi organised interactive sessions for the parents of the students of classes III -XI on different days in the month of February with a view to bring about improvement in children's performances. These sessions were planned in light of the forthcoming final semester. The Principal, Shri J Mohanty insisted on the involvement of parents in their child's proper education. He advised them to take interest, help children
whenever needed and provide emotional support during examination.

Class XI bid farewell to outgoing Class XII

11 February 2012 turned into a memorable day for Class XII students when their immediate juniors gave them farewell in an unusual style, which was an emotional as well as a fun-filled affair. An extravaganza that it was, the farewell was studded with excellent singing performances and graceful dances. The Head Boy and the Head Girl recounted their most cherished moments of school life and said that a Dipsite will always be a Dipsite. The highlight of the show was a magazine, which was written, compiled and edited by the outgoing students of Class XII,which they dedicated to their teachers. The Principal of the school, Shri J Mohanty congratulated them whole-heartedly on this extraordinary effort and wished them all the best for their forthcoming exams and for their entire future.He emphasised on the need to be good human beings and advised the students to be optimistic and multi-faceted. Ms.Romita Majumdar was chosen Miss DPS and Master Anwesh Pandey was declared Mr DPS at the end of this event.

Patriotism on a High Tide on Republic Day

26 January 2012, when Indian Republic turned 62, DPS Ranchi paid tribute to Mother India very enthusiastically. Students and staff of the school were smeared in the color of patriotism. The Principal Mr. J. Mohanty unfurled the national flag and the students presented a beautiful patriotic song. The march past of senior students was an absolute example of the honor and dignity of Indians. The Principal, in his speech, urged the students to be the torch bearers of future India.

A Red Letter Day for Achievers

Delhi Public School, Ranchi awarded its meritorious students with scholar blazers and scholar badges in a prize distribution ceremony organized on 5 January 2012. Shri G K Pillai, Former CMD, HEC Ltd, Ranchi was the chief guest on this occasion. He gave away the prizes to students who performed excellently in academics for 3 consecutive years. Students who secured good ranks in National Science Olympiad and National Cyber Olympiad along with the achievers in the field of sports were also awarded. Shri G K Pillai in his impressive speech said that in today’s competitive world one must pursue excellence and for this it is very important for a student to have a pre-defined goal. Shri S Varadrajan, ED RDCIS, SAIL and Shri M Panda, ED, HRD, MTI, SAIL were the Guests of Honour for this event.

Dr V S Arunachalam’s visit to DPS Ranchi

It was a proud moment for DPS Ranchi when the renowned scientist and former Security Advisor to Prime Ministers, Dr V S Arunachalam visited the school campus on 15 December 2011. The Principal, staff and the students were overwhelmed to receive him and welcomed him enthusiastically. He too met them with great warmth. Dr Arunachalam blessed them with his words of wisdom and encouraged students to study science for a better future of the nation. He also gave them some simple and interesting tips for the solution of complicated mathematical problems. He also planted a sapling in the school campus to mark this momentous occasion.

National Inter-DPS Multi Sports Meet - For Girls (U-14) : 2011  from October 16 to 19, 2011

Delhi Public School ,Ranchi played a perfect host to the biggest event organised in its history so far, that is, National Inter- DPS Multi Sports Meet for girls(U-14) which is to be held from 16 October 2011 to 19 October 2011 at DPS Ranchi. 38 Delhi Public Schools from different corners of the country are participating in this mega sporting event. The grand opening ceremony of this Meet was held on 16 October 2011 in the premises of DPS Ranchi. His Excellency, Dr. Syed Ahmed, the Governor of Jharkhand was the chief guest for the occasion and he graced the same with his esteemed presence. The Chairman of DPS Society, Shri Ashok Chandra was also present to bless the momentous occasion. Dr. D. N. Gautam, Security Advisor to the Chief Minister of Jharkhand & Former DGP, Bihar, Shri M. K. Bhattacharya, ED, SAIL Safety Organization and Dr. Ram Avtar, GM, RT, RDCIS & Pro Vice-Chairman ,DPS Ranchi were the other distinguished guests on this red letter day.The Principal of DPS Ranchi, Shri J. Mohanty, welcomed all the dignitaries with gratitude and humility and expressed his great pleasure in hosting the national level Inter DPS games. All the sports events of this Meet will be held in Mega Sports Complex, Khelgaon, Ranchi. All are looking forward to the excitement that will be in abundance in the next four days.

The Gala Event Concludes with Enthusiasm

The 4-day action-packed National Inter-DPS Multi Sports Meet, which was hosted by DPS Ranchi, came to an end on 19th October 2011 and the closing ceremony for the event was as spectacular as its opening. The closing ceremony was organised in the premises of DPS Ranchi itself. Dr(Mrs.) Sharada Nayak, Chairperson, DPS Ranchi was the chief guest for this very important occasion. The guest of honour on this eventful day was Shri Amitabh Choudhary, Director–Art Culture Sports & Youth Affairs, Jharkhand Govt. and President, Jharkhand Cricket Association. Shri Sukhdeo Singh ,Secretary, Finance, Govt. of Jharkhand, Shri Anurag Gupta, IG-Crime CID and Dr Ram Avatar, GM(RT) RDCIS & Pro-Vice Chairman were also the distinguished guests present on this significant day. The Principal of DPS Ranchi, Shri J. Mohanty welcomed the esteemed guests and thanked them for their presence.

The show was made enjoyable by a well-synchronized drill & dance presentation by children in colourful attire. The beautiful tribal dance acquainted the players from various parts of the country with the culture of Jharkhand. The Sports Meet concluded with the vote of thanks by the Vice- Principal of the institution, Mrs. Kanika Das.

Inauguration of Sports Complex-II

On 20th February 2011, a Sports Complex was inaugurated in Delhi Public School, Ranchi by the Chairperson of the school, Mrs. Sharada Nayak, in the august presence of Dr. Ram Avatar, Pro Vice Chairman, DPS Ranchi and Mr. J. Mohanty, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Nayak expressed her hope that with these upcoming facilities, the school will be able to produce more sportspersons in future.

Workshop on CCE for Upper Primary Level

A three day ‘Workshop on CCE for Upper Primary Level’ was inaugurated in the presence of Shri B.P. Khandelwal, Vice-chairman, DPS, Ranchi, Dr. A. A. Khan, Vice-chancellor, Ranchi University, Professor H.S. Srivastava - former Dean & Head of the Department of Measurement and Evaluation NCERT, Mrs. Vinita Kher – Director CEM,  DPS Society and Dr. Ram Avatar- Pro Vice Chairman, DPS Ranchi.

It was a highly enriching experience for the teachers of 11 Delhi Public Schools from MP, Chhattisgarh, Bihar & Jharkhand. They were enlightened by the resource person’s extremely intriguing points such as the role of Taxanomies in school education, grading system and tools of evaluation for assessing the level of achievement.

The workshop ended with the valedictory function on October 9, 2010. The esteemed guests for the occasion were Shri A.S.Mathur – ED Incharge, RDCIS, Shri H.K.Jain, Shri Paul, H.S. Srivastava and Mrs Vinita Kher.


Workshop on CCE

On 7th September 2010 Ratna Sagar Publishing House organized a workshop on Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation for the teachers of DPS Ranchi. The Resource Person Ms. Jyoti Swarup threw light on the new system and answered the queries of the teachers related to it.
