Over whelming response of students for Sports Camp
Sports & games are an integral part of a student’s life. A student needs to study hard to crach competitive exams but he should also play games and sports to enjoy the health of life.In helping with this idea Delhi Public School, Ranchi has organised special training sessions in various sports.
Children in huge numbers are turing up everyday with immense amount of zeal and enthusiasm. They are eager to learn the technicalities of different sports events. Some of the children who were there today said that it was a wonderful concept because now a days they do not get time and opportunity to nurture their sporting skills.
Today, Shri Anupam Singh Rathore, a national level football player and football coach, gave the children valuable tips. Shri Muktesh Singh Chauhan (Cricket Coach) was also there to guide them about the game of cricket.
Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi was there to motivate the children and also spoke them about the importance of sports in a student’s life. He is of the opinion that sports and games also enable one to be disciplined in life.
Investiture Ceremony at DPS Ranchi
‘If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, and become more then you are a leader’ – in order to inculcate the leadership qualities in students the school cabinet was formed and they were incducted through a grand investiture ceremony at Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 06/05/2016 for the session 2016-17. The event was presided over by Brigadier S. Chakravarty as the Chief Guest.
The programme began with a melodious welcome song which was followed by the lighting of the lamp signifying removal of darkness and the continuous upward movement of the flames denoting the path of wisdom and divinity. After the lighting of the lamp the newly appointed school appointees and the house appointees took the oath in front of the whole school. The oath was administered by the honourable Chief Guest.
The whole school was also made aware of the unique selection process in which it was highlighted that discipline, academics and behaviour has been given utmost priority so that they become role models for their fellow schoolmates.
Shubh Mishra was appointed as the Head boy and Snigdha Chakravorty as the Head girl. Yuvraj Pradhan was appointed as the Cultural Secretary (Boy) and Arshin Bagga as Cultural secretary ( Girl). Amit Dutta is the new sports captain (Boy) and Shreya Singh sports captain (Girl). Apart from these children the House captains and vice captains were also handed over the house flags.
Brigadier S. Chakravarty the Chief Guest for today’s program congratulated the students and motivated them to be dutiful and responsible. He also said that they should shoulder the duties entrusted to them and work with sync with the mission of the school- ‘Service Before Self’. It was also highlighted by him that self discipline, self introspection, and doing right things for the right cause are the significant traits of a good leader.Dr. Ram Singh the Principal of the school while addressing the children explained the significance of ‘Investiture Ceremony’. He said that it denotes investment in being leaders and the trust and confidence we repose in our newly invested office bearers for the involvement of the students’ community in the day to day functioning of the school since we believe in child centric approach.
A short cultural programme was also presented by the Dipsites in the honour of the Chief Guest, and the programme came to an end with the vote of thanks which was proposed by the Head Boy.
On the whole the entire programme was conducted with the highest degree of sincerity and enthusiasm.
Career Counselling Session for students of X and XII in DPS, Ranchi
‘Happiness is what you are and what you want to be, said Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi while addressing the students in career counselling session which was organised in the school 03.05.2016.
A career counselling session was organised for the students of classes X and XII. So, that they can choose a career as per their liking and potential. The resources person were from I dream career.com and they spoke about the different career options that are available today. It was also highlighted by them that we should change our mindset and consider other career options other than medical and engineering. They also spoke about the factors responsible for choosing a career special emphasis was given to career options in the field of commerce. It was also stated that children discuss about career like film making, litigation, journalism but they are not well informed about the nilty-quilty involved in the process.
Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS, Ranchi being a visionary is of the opinion that each child’s future follows a different path and momentum but in order to succeed in life nobody and nothing will help you until you start helping yourself.
DPS Ranchi abuzz with House Activities
Delhi Public School, Ranchi strongly believes that to face the competitive world today one should be equally adept in academics as well as extra curricular Activities in keeping with this motto an Inter House Hindi Extempore competition of Shloka competition was held in the month of April. The children of Class XII took part in these competitions and their oratory skills were highly applauded.
Komal Singhal of Jamuna House emerged as the winner. Tanmay Jain of Jhelum House secured the second position and Pratyahsha of Jhelum House alongwith Apurva of Chenab House was adjudged third in Hindi Extempore.
In Shloka chanting competition Ayushi Mehta of Ganges House stood 1st , Srijan Singh of Sutlej House secured the 2nd position and Shubhankar Shekhar of Jhelum House stood 3rd.
Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS, Ranchi congratulated the winners and motivated them to take part in such events as he sincerely feels that such competitions go a long way in infilling confidence so that they become smart and responsible citizens in future.
Earth Day celebrated in DPS, Ranchi

Earth Day is the day dedicated for the earth – a day for her who is said to be in real danger by the scientists.
Earth Day was celebrated today (22nd April’ 2016) at the school premises of Delhi Public School, Ranchi by its students.
It was a great day to showcase classroom environmental education, highlight efforts to green the school facility or engage the whole community in making a difference. Some of the activities were – street plays on planet earth made the children aware of saving the earth from global warming. To make children understand the importance to save our earth a rally was organised. Students were seen walking around with banners like – ‘Keep you surrounding clean’, ‘Make Earth Green’, ‘Love Earth – Love Life’, ‘Plant trees Stop Global warming’.
Some students were found giving useful tips to the children on how to save earth by using slogans like – ‘Put three ‘R’ into practice – Reduce, reuse, Recycle’, ‘Turn off the lights when not in use’, ‘Save water as each drop counts’, ‘Take stairs – healthier for you, kinder for your planet’.
The celebration was compiled of fun and meaningful ideas. Use of students creativity and dream up their ideas made the day quite a successful one.
Speaking on the occasion Principal, Dr. Ram Singh said ‘The Earth Day celebration offers opportunities to both teach about the issue and make a tangible environmental impact. He said ‘Together we can make everyday Earth Day and each one of us in the school can make a difference’.
In Inter House Cricket Tournament Ravi House enter in Final - Day Two
On Second Day of Inter House games Cricket tournament for boys Ravi house defeat Sutlej House by 15 runs and enter in Final. Another Semifinal match will play tomorrow between Jamuna House and Sutlej House whose winner will play final with Ravi House.
In Kabbadi match for girls four teams Jhelum, Jamuna, Ravi and Sutlej House are qualified in quarterfinal round. Tomorrow Semifinal matches will be held between “Jhelum house and Jamuna house” and “Ravi house and Sutlej house”. Children were very excited.

Interhouse Cricket and Kabaddi Tournament played at DPS, Ranchi
DPS Ranchi has started Inter House games Cricket for boys and Kabbadi for girls group VI to IX classes on all the six houses like Chenab, Ganges, Jamuna, Jhelum, Ravi and Sutlej participated in particular competition. Children were very excited.
Principal Dr. Ram Singh inaugurated and gave blessing to all the participants. First match played between Chenab v/s Ganges and winner is Ganges by 11 runs.

Interactive & Counseling session for the new entrants at DPS, Ranchi
An Interactive & Counseling session was organised on 19/04/2016 at Delhi Public School Ranchi for the parents whose wards came to take the Aptitude test for Class XI (2016 – 17). It’s a dream come true for me to walk into the premises of DPS Ranchi said some of the aspiring candidates who had come with a lot of hope and expectations to be a part of this prestigious institution.
Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi set the ball rolling by giving the parents a brief idea about how the school functions and what is expected from the children. He spoke to them at length about the aspects which makes DPS Ranchi unique. It was strongly emphasized by him that parents should not pressurize the children to become doctors and engineers rather they should motivate them to become excellent global citizens. He also said that we should help the children to choose a career as per their potential.
Mr. Anand Kumaras one of the resource person for this session. He spoke about various career options and how children can be groomed fro the same. Mr. Pankaj Kumardiscussed about the ways to tackle the competitive exams, study materials etc. which turned out to be extremely beneficial for the parents.
Mr. Vikas Kumar was also present for this session who gave some valuable tips to the parents to deal with the children of this age group.
A power point presentation was shown to the parents to enable them to catch a glimpse of the growth and academic achievements of the school. After this a very interesting question answer session was conducted in which the head of the institution patiently dealt with all the queries of the parents.
At the end of the session many of the parents appreciated the efforts taken by the school for making this session a highly enriching one.
CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest -2016 Launched AT DPS, RANCHI
DPS Ranchi successfully hosted the city level CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest -2016 on 18/04/2016. It was organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The Chief Guest for today’s programme was Smt. Aradhana Patnayak, Secretary, Education, Govt. of Jharkhand. The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp which was followed by the presentation of bouquets to all the distinguished guests.
Cryptic Crossword is a linguistic workout which not only tests one’s vocabulary but also sharpens one’s ability to interpret clues. In short, cryptic crosswords are crossword puzzles in which each clues is a word puzzle in and of itself. It also helps develop cognitive skills such as making inferences, evaluating alternatives and drawing conclusions.
A total of 23 teams from different schools of the city participated in an hour long preliminary test at the end of which the best two teams were selected. Each team comprised of 2 students. After much brain storming DPS, Ranchi represented by Abir Sen and Pronoy Ghosh was crowned as the winner and DAV Gandhinagar represented by Manthan Pandey and Shreyash Pandey took home the runner up title. The city round winners will be heading for the National Capital for the final round. The prizes were given away by Smt. Aradhana Patnayak, Secretary, Education, Govt. of Jharkhand. Dr. Ram Singh Principal, DPS, Ranchi while addressing the gathering said that Cryptic Crossword enables a child to think laterally. It was also stated by him that the prime intension of hosting such contests in the school is to motivate the children to broaden their horizon, as these contests give the children a chance to think out of the box and strive for perfection in education mainly having the pleasure of learning with a blend of modern technique and real life learning.
The chief guest for todays programme congratulated the students for their brilliant performance and said that apart from academics all round personality development is a must for the well being of students irrespective of the fact whether they are studying in government schools or private schools. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Raj Narayan Singh, National Coordinator, CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest -2016.
Dipsites of Ranchi on An Educational Trip to NASA
It was a dream come true for many of the young Dipsites when they visited the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) centre in Orlando USA. 25 Children of Delhi Public School along with 2 escort teachers had the experience of their life time when they were taken on an educational trip to the world’s leading aeronautics centre in the month of March. This was the second group that was sent from the cradle.
The prime intention of this trip was to give the students a feel of the concept that learning happens best when one learns by seeing. Dr. Ram Singh, the Principal of the school always emphasizes on the importance of global exposure as it helps them wider their outlook and are well prepared for the real deal.
Nandini Maroo and Radhika Budhia said that it was an exhilarating experience for them as they stepped inside the premises of NASA. According to Mayank Tibrewal, Ishita Purwar and Ayushi Purwar the icing on the cake was undoubtedly the experience of having lunch with one of the astronauts.
Apart from NASA they have also visited the mesmerized of Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King. The show at IMAX was also enjoyed by the children.
On the whole the trip was an excellent learning experience for the children. The parents who had come to collect their children expressed their heartfelt thanks to the head of the institution because it was his brain child to send the children as it would help them to learn new techniques and assimilate the innovative things carried out there.
