D.P. S., Ranchi celebrates 70th Independence Day with Patriotic fervor

70th Independence Day was celebrated with great pomp and show at DPS, Ranchi. The principal Dr. Ram Singh hoisted the Tricolour and the atmosphere filled with the echoes of the National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’. Students gave a symbolic start to the day by the March Past. The Choir group paid a tribute to the motherland and the freedom fighters by singing the ‘Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon’.

In his Speech, the Principal reminded the students of the uncompromising spirit of the freedom fighters and motivated them to uphold the virtues of peace and equality so that the future becomes bright and enlightened one.

Felicitation Ceremony for 100% attendance at DPS Ranchi (Senior Wing)

Delhi Public School, Ranchi today felicitated more than 160 students of Class VI to XII with cent percent attendance in the session 2015-16 at a programme where Sri Prashant Kumar IAS, Municipal Commissioner was the Chief Guest while Sri A.T. Mishra, IFS Special Secretary was the Guest of Honour which commenced with a welcome song and a dance performance on “Tamso Maa Jyotir Gamya”. Along with 100% attendance, the Dance team which has qualified for National Competition was also felicitated.

The students who have achieved remarkable results in Olympiads i.e., Ishan Roshan, Spandan Mishra, Anu Priya, Akash Raj, Akash Deep who grabbed NCO, IMO and IEO 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Also received gold, silver and bronze medals along with the cash prize of Rs. 5000, Rs. 2500 and Rs.1000 respectively from the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Sri Prashant Kumar, appreciated this innovative effort of the Principal, Dr. Ram Singh of felicitating the students with 100% attendance. He said that it is one aspect of a student’s life which has never been appreciated in such a grand way. Sharing his own experience he said that Intelligence and hard Work is the prime recipe of success but one more thing which makes a difference is PERSEVERENCE. He stressed on the three ways which people learn i.e. through Reading, through Examples and through Experience the third one being the best of all. He motivated the students by sharing a thought “Mediocres have a greater chance of success than the intelligent ones because they have greater chance to quit.” He further said that, “Exam of life will never be a cake work but do not give up or accept failure instead have perseverance with which you will succeed in life”.

Guest of Honour, Sri A.T. Mishra, IFS said that achieving 100% of anything is a really difficult task but not impossible, it can be achieved only with DISCIPLINE. He added the “People who are partially disciplined will definitely land somewhere but disciplined ones will undoubtedly be more successful in life. Adding on to his words he said that no subject is good or bad but students should try and reach the pinnacle of that so that they get contentment and serve the society and country at large. He motivated the students to take example from the life of Sri Prashant Kumar and be determined in reaching the goals till success is achieved. He also appreciated the school’s result and congratulated the principal for being ranked within 100 in the country. He also encouraged other students to join the lot of the ones achieving 100% attendance. In conclusion he said “Failure is the pillar of success”, so no mater how many times you fail, accept it as a challenge and pursue your aim.

The Principal, Dr. Ram Singh, in his address said that DPS Ranchi is a school with difference. Its motto is “Service Before Self ” and its mission is to Nurture Global Citizens and provide platform to the students for the Holistic Development of the students. DPS Ranchi not only works for making students academically strong but also grooming their personality. He said that taking a step towards making the students global citizens the school has recently tied up with the US Consul for students’ and teachers’ exchange programme, French and German Classes are also running full - fledgedly. He also highlighted few notable achievements of the school.

He, appreciating the parents, said that the students achieving 100% attendance reflects on the disciplined family environment which they provide the children at home as Discipline begins with punctuality. He also thanked the distinguished guests who have come to school time and again and became inspiration and motivation for the children to excel in their life. Towards the end, he said that these days children do not come to school for getting information but to learn social values, respect, loyalty, obedience etc. so all the stakeholders of the society should join hands and come together to provide proper and Holistic Education to children.

The event was culminated with certificate and memento distribution by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.

Shubh Mishra, Head Boy of the school concluded the programme with the vote of thanks.

DPS Ranchi paves way for Higher Studies Abroad

Delhi Public School, Ranchi organised a one of its kind interactive session for the students on 05/08/2016. This was conducted in collaboration with ‘US Consul’Kolkata office and the interaction took place through Skype. The students of Class XI and XIItook part in this programme. The prime objective of this programme was to facilitate these students who want to enroll in the overseas education programmes.

The US Department of State, called the Kennedy – Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program has launched the programme in India in 2005 in recognition of the importance of youth exchange as key component to building bridges between citizens of the U.S. and countries around the world. The programme provides fully funded scholarships for high school students to study for one academic year in the U.S YES students serve as “youth ambassadors” for their home country, promoting mutual understanding by forming lasting relationship with their host families and communities. Participants live with a host family, attend an American high school, acquire leadership skills, and engage in activities to learn about U.S society and values; they also help educate Americans about their home country and culture.

At the onset of this session Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi and a pioneer in the field of education incorporating new methods and techniques in the educational arena. He spoke about the advantages of global education and added that his aim is to nurture the interests of the students not only at the national level but at the international level as well. It was made amply clear by him that this session has been organised to clear all the facts and myths related to overseas education. He also said that gone are the days when only the children of elite class could think of higher education abroad now the children belonging to the service class also have treasure chest of opportunities to grab.

The session began with a presentation highlighting the admission procedure:

  • Subjects commonly taken up by the Indian students
  • Queries related to VISA
  • Job opportunities abroad after completing graduation
  • Fee structure of state run colleges and private colleges
  • Types of assistance ship available
  • Options related to dual course

After this the children came up with several questions whose answer were given by executives of US Consul from Kolkata:

Q.1 – How does recommendation letter help financially or for choosing the universities?

  • It is a form of communication between 2 sets of teachers.
  • Touches up about academics and all about the child’s profile.( academic as well as others)
  • One of the important elements to decide on the child’s application for higher studies in the US.

Q.2 – What are the research program facilities?

  • Child need to undergo the SAT or ACT and can also couple them couple with subjects to enrich their profile in order to get easy admission.

Q.3 – Opportunities in Science as compared to Commerce? So what can be done whether can be applied after graduation or post graduation?

  • Optional practical training for one year as Internship can be undertaking
  • In Commerce there are many options like business management, Maths Account etc.
  • Combine areas of interest like Management and Psychology.
  • Going at the under graduate level is better with the concept and growing globally, for self growth.

Q.4 – Process of pursuing LAW?

  • Law school’s candidates will have to appear for an Aptitude Test after 4 years degree.

Q.5 – After MBBS what exams to be written for post graduate in Medical Science in the US?

  • MCAT is to be undertaken which is highly competitive.

Q.6 - What about accommodation for Indian students ?

  • Must stay in the campus atleast for 1st year for International Students.
  • The campus is well protected and well equipped is well protected.

Q.7 - How are Indian students doing in US?

  • Fantastically well and is increasing at on average of 30% every year.

Q.8 – What certificates or achievements are needed to apply for studies ?

  • Yes, Degrees from any accredited institution is equally accepted everywhere.

    • Many colleges in US are offering Molecular Biology at under graduate level. And so many questions were asked by students which were replied by US consul executive.

      This was a golden opportunity for the students and as it’s a well known fact that DPS Ranchi always leads from the front and this type of session too was organised in any school of Ranchi for the first time.

      The students were fully charged and felt that by studying abroad they have the opportunity to study and have foreign relation as well and take in the allure and culture of a new land. On the whole it was a highly enriching session for them.

    Felicitation Ceremony for 100% attendance at DPS Ranchi

    An efficacious felicitation ceremony was organised at Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 3rd August 2016 to honour the students with cent percent attendance.

    The Chief Guest Mr. Prashant Singh ( IG, Police) along with the Guest of Honour Mr. Narendra Kumar ( SP-CID Branch) graced the occasion with their benign presence.

    The program commenced with a melodious welcome song. Which was followed by presenting of bouquet to the esteemed guest as token of love and gratitude.

    Principal Dr. Ram Singh in his welcome speech said a school is the best platform for children to showcase their talents and discover the best with in. Every activity of the school would always help the child to walk one step further in finding best of talents a child is blessed with. He congratulated the students for their accomplishment and exhorted them to carry on with the same spirit in future. He said that the school attendance is very important as it helps the students to succeed not only in academics but also it develops their personality and team spirit when they attend the school consistently. He also appreciated the parents of the students with cent percent attendance for inculcating the value of punctuality in their children.

    The event was culminated with certificate and memento distribution by the Chief Guest to the achievers. Around 276 students from class PREP to V were felicitated on the occasion. DPS once again showed that the school attendance is very important. By making students attendance a priority the school is supporting their success and setting a good example. It was a moment of great pride and honour for the students, parents and the school.

    Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest Mr. Prashant Singh stressed the importance of developing all round capabilities of children. He said that it is only possible when the children will come regularly to the school. He applauded the students for their achievement and the school for its indomitable endeavours in shaping the future of the young minds.

    Guest of Honour Mr. Narendra Kumar on other hand said that regular attendance at school is vital to help children achieve and get best possible start in life. Congratulating the achievers he urged the students to come regularly to school and always remember the values they have ingrained at the school as these will help etch a life embellished with success.

    A scintillating fusion dance performance of Kathak and Bharatnatyam and a compassionate dance show ‘AS Tho Ma Jyotir Gamaya’ depicting the radical changes of 19th century in the Indian society brought by the social reformers, who fought against the evils for women empowerment kept the audience enthralled.

    The program concluded with vote of thanks by the Head Boy of Junior Wing.

    DPS Ranchi Celebrates its 27th Foundation Day

    DPS Ranchi celebrated its 27th Foundation Day on 17th July, Sunday. It was a feast of forms and colours.

    Honourable Speaker of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly was the Chief Guest. Seeing this symphony of Flair and Zest the Chief Guest said that the performance he witnessed in DPS was unique and quite different from many schools of the town, congratulated the Principal, teaching staff and students on the 27th foundation day. Sri Amar Kumar Bauri, Minister of Land Revenue was the Guest of Honour. He said DPS imparts quality education and appreciated the result of the school he said DPS demonstrated the best cultural event he has ever seen in his life. He further wished the students to grab all the opportunities so that they can be appreciated not by thousands but crores of people.Other guests present were Mrs. Nidhi Khare(Sec. Commercial Taxes Deptt. Jharkhand), Sri Ajay Kumar(Secretary Higher Education, Jharkhand) Sri Aditya Swaroop (RIT Chief, Jharkhand), Col. J.P. Chahal, sri Manas Ranjan Panda, Dr. B.B. Agrawal, (Pro-vice chairman SAIL), Sri J.C. Mahapatra, SAIL, Sri A.K. Paul (GM I/c SAIL) and Principals of Sahodya group of schools are also presented.

    They appreciated the schools result which was better than many other school in DPS group.

    The programme began with instrumental where 27 students synchronized and with their melody mesmerized the audience.

    Then the Principal Dr. Ram Singh, welcomed the Chief Guest and other people present. He also highlighted few achievements of the school. He laid emphasis on the collaboration of DPS RANCHI with ZILA SCHOOL. He appreciated the efforts put in by the staff and students to come up with a wonderful show. Following this was a welcome song ‘Milan ki Malhar’. Special attraction

    1. Students of Zila School Ranchi were seen everywhere alongwith the students of DPS actively participating in dance, mime, vote of thanks, etc.

    2. 145 students who had secured 10 CGPA in AISSE-2016 were felicitated by the Chief Guest & Guest of Honour

    12 special prizes were given to students who have brought laurels to the school in various fields like NTSE, World Social Science Olympiad and in the field of Sports. Adya Adity Parida secured All India Rank one and Pratyush Kumar win gold medal in NTSE. In World Social Science Olympiad nine students of DPS win the medal who are – Shambhavi Prabha (V), Vishakha Sinha (V), Ananya Mishra (VII), Ishita Raj(VIII), Tripali Rah (IX), Shantanu Kumar Sonal (IX) Kumar Divyanga (X), Pratyush Anand (XI), Sameei Rastogi (XI). NImisha of Class Ten win cash prize in Scholarship for Sports organized by ‘Hindustan’.

    3. Cultural Extravaganza

    Human beings have a multitude of emotions like peace, devotion, humour, love, anger, etc. this was extraordinarily depicted in NAVRAS having almost 100 students in it. The presentation of 9 RAS was brought forward through

    • • SHANTI RAS where Bhavya of class IX played the lead role
    • • BHAKTI RAS depicting the devotion of Meera for Lord Krishna.
    • • HASYA RAS with more than 20 students in it and AISHEK BANERJEE played the lead.
    • • RAUDRA RAS captured people’s attention where they could visualize TAANDAV by Shiva and Kali.
    • • VEER RAS which show cased how to overcome odds. Shubhankar, Rehan and Yuvraj played the lead.
    • • SHRINGAR RAS, KARUNA RAS, ADBHUTA RAS & BHAY RAS were other emotions depicted.

    Then through MIME students staged the journey and evolution of mankind from ancient to modern age. A movie based on the school’s journey was also shown to the audience.

    The programme concluded by vote of thanks given by Rahul of Zila School and Aditya of DPS. Towards the end all the participants gathered together for the Grand Finale

    The entire programme was conducted by Vasudha Chatterjee, Gurmeet, Ruli Bora, Siddhant, Yash and Trilok.

    Roars of applaudes and appreciation echoed in the Vivekananda Auditorium of DPS Ranchi.

    Inter House Girls Final Badminton Tournament in DPS Ranchi

    Amidst the electrifying enthusiasm and excitement, inter-house girls badminton final tournament was played on 14/07/2016 in Delhi Public School, Ranchi.

    The final round girls doubles was played between Jhelum House and Chenab House whereas girls singles tournament was played between Chenab House and Ravi House.

    The matches were played for three rounds with complete sportsman spirit. The ardent supporters of the concerned houses cheered their teams with loud claps. Each one of them wanted their teams to bring laurel for the house.

    At last Ravi House won the girls singles title and Jhelum House was declared winner in the girls doubles badminton tournament.

    Dr. Ram Singh Principal, DPS Ranchi congratulated the teams. He emphasized on the sportsman spirit. He said that sports inculcates team spirit, positive and competitive attitude and ultimately creates on overall developed personality.

    DPS Ranchi ties up with the US Consulate

    Mr. Craig L. Hall, the U S Consul General in Kolkata along with his team visited DPS Ranchi, on the 8th of July for an interactive session with the students of DPS, Ranchi as well as other schools of the town with an objective to make them aware and give them a broad perspective of the opportunities available in the universities of the USA to pursue higher studies. His team included Mr. Greg, Padro, Ms. Shivanti, Ms. Sonam Luthra and Mr. Nikhil Bhatnagar.

    The programme began with a welcome song ‘Swagatam’ and honouring the guests. The principal, Dr. Ram Singh, extended a warm welcome to Mr Craig L, Hall and his team. He also welcomed other dignitaries, guests, principals, parents, teachers, students and all who had come to be a part of this momentous occasion.

    The other guests who were present today were Mr. Anurag Gupta, ADGP, Jharkhand Police, Dr. B. B. Agarwal, Pro- Vice- Chairman of DPS, Ranchi,; and the Principal of various Delhi Public Schools located in Jharkhand and Bihar and the Principals of Sahodaya School Complex.

    Students from almost 20 schools of Ranchi who had come to attend the programme along with their escort teachers. In his welcome speech, the principal shared a few notable achievements of the school and thanked the stakeholders of the society for the immense growth of the school.

    After this Mr. Greg Padro, The Associate Public Affairs Office gave a detailed profile of Mr. Craig L. Hall. He said, Mr. Hall took up his assignment as U.S Consul General in Kolkata August 19. Initially he had served as the Deputy Political Counsellor in the US Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia; Seoul, Korea; Canberra, Australia, etc.

    Then Mr. Hall felicitated 2 children ADITYA ABHISHEK who secured AIR 346 in JEE-ADVANCED and SHRISTY SARAWGI, the Commerce topper of the school in AISSCE-2016, following which a power point presentation regarding AFS i.e, a program which has an essence of ‘Stay and Study’ in a different cultural setting along with YES program i.e, with significant Muslim populations and to grant them scholarships for one academic year in the US was shown to the students.

    Each question of the students was answered satisfactorily by the US Consul General, Mr. Hall and Ms. Shivanti.

    Students and teachers from different schools were also invited who took equal interest in asking questions to the Consul General.

    Some 40 students from Zila School, Ranchi with which DPS, Ranchi has collaborated to work for were one academic year also given an opportunity to be a part of this event and get exposure about the options available in the universities of the USA. When asked a few of them about how they liked the programme and how would it be beneficial to them, they said “We never thought that we would be getting such a broad view of the opportunities available in the USA for higher studies”.

    The whole idea of the programme was to give an insight to the students of the opportunities for higher studies in the US i.e, to provide a clear cut idea of the ranking of the universities, the funding scholarship options, the eligibility and the admission criterion, the cost involved, the kind of career options available, the ways to prepare for the qualifying exams and how to apply for the visas.

    DPS Ranchi and the US Consul General have agreed upon to work in unison in order to benefit the students and teachers of DPS, Ranchi as well as students of other schools by giving a base for the following

    1. Opportunities available for educational and cultural exchange. 2. Opportunities for teacher training whereby teachers from DPS, Ranchi could go for a short period to teach and work with the students in the US and also to invite teachers from the USA to do the same in DPS, Ranchi. 3. Opportunities for cultural programmes and talks and also to invite American artists and experts to DPS, Ranchi. 4. Opportunities to work with other schools in Ranchi whereby DPS, Ranchi could act as a contact point and be facilitator between the US Consulate and various educational institutions in Ranchi and Jharkhand. 5. Work in collaboration with the US Consulate in Kolkata in areas of Human Trafficking and other social causes of interest.

    For the same A Centre for Overseas opportunities has been setup in DPS Ranchi which was inaugurated by honourable Consul General Mr. Craig L. Hall.

    When asked the principal of DPS, Ranchi about why this thought of inviting a Consul General came to his mind, he said, “ I really feel honoured that with the help of Mr. Craig L. Hall and his team, DPS Ranchi will be able to do something extraordinary for the students. According to me, the International exposure to the students about the opportunities available in the US universities for pursuing higher studies might have set minds of the students in motion and will undoubtedly be beneficial for them in near future.” He added, “In this world of Globalisation, it is my prime concern to nurture my students to be Global Citizens.” He further said that the school had earlier collaborated with the British as well with the Australian Council to provide a bigger platform to the students and in coming future we are planning to get in contact with other embassies too, to help our students to achieve the best from life.

    Before the departure of our distinguished guests The Main Gate of the school was also inaugurated by Mr. Hall in the presence of all other eminent guests.

    The crowd of students coming out after the programme had a dream in their eyes and each one aspired to try their luck in the universities of USA.

    Dr. M.S. Tyagi, The Founder Principal of DPS Bokaro Visits DPS Ranchi

    It was indeed a moment of pleasure for the entire fraternity of DPS, Ranchi to have Dr. M. S. Tyagi, the founder Principal of DPS, Bokaro amidst the staff members as a guest in the school on the 3rd of July, 2016.

    He was also the principal of DPS, Ranchi for a day at the time of its inauguration. Now, he was in the premises of the school after 25 years. He showed a great sense of enthusiasm and belongings towards DPS, Ranchi and felt nostalgic remembering the initial days of the school when he had visited here. He, wholeheartedly, visited the entire school campus be it the Labs, Libraries, Art Room, Auditorium, Admin Block, etc. Not only this, the Conference Room which has been newly built in the school with the purpose of holding seminars, meetings, discussion, etc. was also inaugurated by him. He said that having a conference room in the school is a real innovative idea as it will help in organizing several meetings with ease. He while visiting the campus was full of praise for the fine infrastructure of the school and also appreciated the well- maintained garden inside the school.

    Besides this, Dr. Tyagi, an exemplary leader, congratulated the principal, Dr. Ram Singh, and the teachers infact each one associated with the school for the extraordinary result in AISSCE & AISSE 2016. He said that it was indeed a remarkable achievement for DPS, Ranchi to attain such glory as the results of the school has been the best in the state. In addition to this, he also emphasized on the result of DPS, Ranchi when compared with other Delhi Public Schools in the country. He expressed his happiness and delight and once again congratulated the entire family of DPS, Ranchi to have achieved a result better than many other renowned schools in the group of DPS. He also mentioned that it was indeed an accolade for DPS, Ranchi to be successful in bagging 97th All India CBSE Rank.

    He said that this laurel could have been brought to the school only because of the leadership of the present Principal, Dr. Ram Singh, who has a broad vision and a clear mission to mould the present generation into future scholars. He also quoted that the dedication which the Principal has for his school has worked wonders for the students as well as teachers to think out of the box and stand out in the crowd.

    The Principal as well as the staff of the school expressed gratitude to him for visiting the school and motivating everyone for the future growth and prosperity.

    DPS, Ranchi Goes HI-Tech

    An innovative programme was organised in Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 01/07/2016 to provide a profound insight into the world of android development. The students were educated how IDE ( Integrated Development Environment) provides an environment which is used by the developer to create the app.

    The programme was a joint venture of DPS, Ranchi and IT Department of Jharkhand. It was attended by the students of Class XII of Computer Science and Information Practice section. The resource persons introduced the children to the world of Android applications and how it came into being. The students were shown a presentation on Android and how smart phones have captured the market. This was followed by an interactive session in which the vital aspects related to this app was made clear to the students.

    Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS, Ranchi was the prime motivational force behind this and he strongly feels that such workshops will help to create a true ‘App Era’.

    Inter House Table Tennis tournament for boys and girls from class VI to XII has been started at DPS, Ranchi.\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nDr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS, Ranchi inaugurated the tournament by tossing the ball and motivating the players by his inspirational words. He said, “Winning is not much more important, important is fair participation and playing the game with the motto of brotherhood and true sportsman sprit.”
