DPS, Ranchi bagged the 1st runners up position in Inter- DPS Science Festival
Delhi Public School Society had organized an Inter-DPS Science festival at DPS Moradabad on 15th October, 2016.
Delhi Public Schools all over India had participated in this festival. The festival was organized in various categories. Students of DPS Ranchi represented this festival in three categories i.e. AVISKAR, FUTURA and ECO-AESTHETICS which were on-site events. The school had also participated in ‘Gatha- The Story of River’ which was an off-site event. There was a cut-throat competition among schools but DPS Ranchi was successful in bagging the 1st runner’s up position in AVISKAR category. The school also secured 4th position in ‘Gatha- The Story of River’ in which the journey and origin of Swarnarekha river was shown.
The event on 15th October was inaugurated by Sri V.K. Shunglu, Chairman DPS Society, who was the Chief Guest for the day. Prof. B.P. Khandewal, member DPS Society Chairperson, M.C. DPS Moradabad, was the Guest of Honour.
The result was declared on 16th October 2016. The students of class XI were the participants for the events under all categories.
Students who represented AVISKAR category were- Hemang Prakhar, Ratnam and Anshu kumar. In FUTURA category Ashutosh Pandey, Raghusrinivasan T.V. and Kairav Kirtne represented the school. For Eco-Aesthetics- Vaibhav Raj, Abhishek Sethi and Aadarsh Kr. Sahu were the representatives. The students expressed their delight saying that it had been a great learning experience for them. They thanked the principal Dr. Ram Singh who gave them such an exposure of representing DPS Ranchi at DPS Moradabad. They also said that due to his constant guidance only they could bag this position.
The principal in his response expressed his delight saying that it is indeed a matter of a great pride that the students of DPS Ranchi are leaving a mark in whichever field or competition they go to. He also said that he, through this platform i.e. school, will keep providing different avenues to the students to have exposure in various fields so that they become successful individuals.
Students also extended their thanks to the escort teacher their co-coordinator and all the other teachers who helped them in the events of various category. When asked the students about their experience they said – Vaibhav Raj – “It was a very great experience for me. The competition was really tough. I am thankful to my principal and teachers for giving me such a wonderful opportunity. It had been a great time for me meeting Sri V.K. Shunglu and Prof. B.P. Khandelwal. The trip was indeed informative and will remain as a lifelong memory with me.” Raghusrinivasan- “Representing the school and being an exhibit in Inter-DPS Science Festival was one of the proudest moments of my life. I would like to thank my principal and all our teachers who helped our team. Our model was seen by Prof. B.P. Khandelwal and he appreciated it. The competitive environment there provided us with immense knowledge about scientific principles and their application. I had a great time with my co-exhibits and escort teachers.”Aadarsh Kr. Sahu – “I am indeed thankful to my principal who gave me such a chance of representing my school. The competition was really tough but because of the constant and valuable guidance of our teachers we bagged the 1st runner’s up position.”
DPS RANCHI Won Ranchi District Level Badminton Tournament-2016
Tanmay Jain of Class X D won the under -17 6th Sylvia Francis Ranchi district inter school badminton tournament held at C.M.P.D.I. Kanke, Ranchi.
Under-17 Girls team comprising of Ishika Pathak (XI H), & Akshata Parul ( XC) stood as runners.
Under -17 Boys team comprising of Tanmay Jain (XD), & Aditya Banerjee (XI N), also bagged the runner up positions.
The Principal, Dr. Ram Singh, conveyed heartiest congratulations to the winners and wished the luck for their future. They were also awarded in school’s morning assembly.
Along with them in the field of literarcy Tusar Rishi of class XII I was appreciated because he is a budding writer and has written a book named “The Patient Patient”. It’s a story of a 16 year old boy fighting against cancer and growing up in one of the busiest hospitals of India, AIIMS, Delhi. It is based on the author’s own battle against cancer.
Speaking on this the principal said the school has arranged for a legal literacy club where in children are taught the literary skills so that they can make a career in the field of literature too.
DPS Ranchi bagged CBSE's U-14 Champion's Trophy in Table Tennis and made it to the Nationals
The school secured a Gold Medal in U-14 Girls team Event and U-14 Girls Singles in CBSE Cluster III Table Tennis Tournament organized at Guru Nanak Sr. Sec. School, Ranchi and qualified for Nationals at Barodra from 24th to 28th Nov. 2016.

Bronze Medal was won in U-14 Boys Event and U-14 Boys Singles.

Geet of Class VIII and Samridhi of Class VI were ranked 6 in 16 Jharkhand State Chess Championship organized by All Jharkhand Chess Association from 1st to 3rd Oct. 2016. DPS Ranchi is going to host Zonal Level Basketball Tournament Girls Open from 21st to 23rd October 2016 in which almost 200 girls are participating from different states like Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, Orissa and Chhattisgarh.
The school, in full fledged form, is involved in making arrangements for the same.
D.P.S. Ranchi renews Gandhi Ji dream for Swachh Bharat
Today on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti Delhi Public School Ranchi relived the dream of the father of the Nation of having a Clean India. An oath was taken on this day to put the best shoulder forward through Shramdaan and realize Bapu’s dream of a Swachh Bharat.
On this occasion the Principal Dr. Ram Singh along with his non-teaching staff garlanded the statue of the father of the nation ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ already established in the school premises and lit the lamp paying a tribute to the divine soul.
After this the Principal and the staff members cleaned the dirt and grime accumulated outside the school premises. Speaking on this occasion the principal Dr. Ram Singh said that it was Gandhiji’s dream that all sections of the society should maintain the cleanliness in the atmosphere. No one likes dirt around them thus they keep their houses clean and throw the remains outside making the streets dirty but the dream of Gandhiji would be fulfilled only when everyone contributes not only towards the cleanliness of their own houses but also of their s-urroundings. Garbage from the house should be dumped in proper bins so that we contribute towards meeting our environment pollution free and also contribute to recycling. By doing our bit we can realize Bapu’s dream and thus become inspiration for others. In school also children are taught not to throw litter here and there so as to keep the school clean.
Cleanliness is not the responsibility of any particular class of people or section but it is an effort to be jointly taken by everyone. If this initiative is taken by each and everyone then our honourable Prime Minister’s dream of having a clean India by 2019 will not be a difficult objective to achieve.
Lal Bahadur Shastri the former Prime Minister of India was also remembered for his contribution to uplift the masses and make India a progressing country.
Inter School Quiz Competition at DPS Ranchi
An Inter School Quiz Competition was held on 30.09.2016 at Delhi Public School Ranchi. It was organised by Swachh Bharat Mission cell a unit of Ranchi Municipal Corporation who aim to eradicate dirt and grime from the city. They intend to make the people aware about the importance of cleanliness, health and hygine in our day to day life. Shri Prashant Kumar Municipal commissioner Ranchi was the chief guest for this programme.
Around 15 schools from all over Ranchi like DPS, Ranchi, DAV Pundag, DAV Kapildev, Oxford Public School, Army Public School, Balkrishna +2 school etc took part in this quiz. After the preliminary round six teams were selected to be a part of the preliminary phase of this quiz. Shubh Mishra and Pranay Ghosh were the quiz master of today’s programme. Questions an general facts about Swachh Bharat Mission was asked in the first round and in the second round questions related to health and hygiene was asked. In the final round questions based on General Knowledge was asked. The Tie breaker round decided the winner of the quiz.
The first position was bagged by Army Public School, Ranchi represented by Ishika Singh and Debrati Jha. Second prize was awarded to DPS Ranchi represented by Malay Devashish and Adya Aditi Parida. The third prize went to Balkrishna +2 High School which was represented by Bhatendu Kumar and Prakash Kumar. The three teams which emerged as the winner will be taking part in the final round which will be held at Vishwa- Kanke on 2nd October 2016.
Speaking on this occasion the Chief Guest gave information about some interesting facts related to sanitation in the city.
Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi said that he was happy to be a part of this mission which has been designed by our Honourable Prime Minister in order to fulfill the dream of the father of our Nation. He also said that we all should work whold heartedly to accomplish this task.
Fire Station excursion trip to Tiny Tots of DPS, Ranchi
28th September’16 was a day worth mentioning for DPS Ranchi as the children of Class I went to fire Service Station under the much awaited school educational tour. Children learnt the safety measures by seeing all the machines in reality and it gave them immense confidence. The safety engineers made them understand the uses of equipments and they solved all the relevant queries of the students.
The tour created a powerful impact on the students as they witnessed the working of the rescue operation and came to know about the fire station phone number – 101 which was quite knowledgeable for them.
This type of educational tour is trade mark of DPS, Ranchi which imparts thorough knowledge to children.
Second Day of the Workshop on ONLINE LABS at DPS, Ranchi
The second day of the workshop on ONLINE LABS at Delhi Public School Ranchi had teachers of 21 schools who took part enthusiastically in this workshop. The first round was conducted on 20/09/2016 and the second round was on today 22/09/2016. It was a session to enrich the teaching learning interesting.
Today when technology is improving by leaps and bounds this concept of online labs is surely going to be a unique technique for both the teacher and the teachers and the learners to grasp the technicalities involved in Practical lessons with absolute ease.
Online labs is a brain child of Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communication and IT, Govt. of India, and CBSE along with AMRITA CREATE has taken up the initiative to conduct workshops in the all the eminent schools of the country. CREATE (The Centre for Research in Advanced Technology for Education) is an educational initiative pioneered by Amrita University that applies innovative digital solutions to provide accessible educational technologies for all.
The workshop was attended by teachers of classes IX to XII taking Science and Maths from – K.C. Roy Memorial School, Surendranath Centenary, DAV Hehal, Vivekanand Vidya Mandir, Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Sarla Birla Public School, Loyala Convent, Lala Lajpat Rai, Oxford, Oxbridge, R.B.S.P.S., R.T.C., Tender Heart, Sharda Global School, Viks Vidyalay, ST. Jaget Public School, Sachidanand Gyan Bharti etc. along with the best school.
The teachers found it to be an extremely enriching session when they were shown slides –“A Life Cycle of Mosquito, Newton’s Second Law, Experiment based on PH etc.
While addressing the teachers who attended this workshop Dr. Ram Singh Principal DPS Ranchi said that in the present scenario it is very important that the teachers keep themselves updated about the innovative techniques in the field of education. He also promised to conduct more such workshops in future which will be a boon for the teaching community and the students as well which will in turn help the students at the global level.
Workshop on ONLINE LABS at DPS Ranchi
Delhi Public School, Ranchi hosted a workshop on ONLINE LABS on 20-09-2016. This workshop which will be conducted also on 22.09.2016, will train the teachers taking Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths to take practical lessons through animation.
Shri D. Suresh Senior support Engineer from AMRITA CREATE was the resource person for this programme. The programme has been designed by Department of Information Technology Ministry of Communication and I.T. Govt. of India.
This programme will be beneficial for the students of classes IX – XII as they can learn the nuances of practical classes through internet easily and free of cost. The workshop was attended by all the senior teachers taking Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths from all the eminent schools of Ranchi. At the end of the workshop the teachers were of the opinion that it was indeed a very innovative technique which will facilitate day to day teaching.
Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi while addressing the teachers said that the teachers should keep themselves abreast with the changing technologies to meet the needs of the youngsters or students. He also plans to organise many mere workshop in future.
Interactive Session with the V.C. of Jindal Global Law School at DPS, Ranchi
Delhi Public School Ranchi ranked the third best school among all the CBSE schools is once again in the news for organizing an interactive session – “The future of higher education in humanities, Social Sciences, Liberal Arts and Law.” Dr. C. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor and Dean of Jindal Global Law School who has done his LLM from Havard was especially invited to interact with the students of class XI and XII.
Professor Kumar has academic qualifications from the University of Oxford, Harvard University, University of Hong Kong, University of Delhi and Loyola College.
Professor Kumar is also a Member of the National Legal Knowledge Council. He was a faculty member at the School of Law of City University of Hong Kong, where he taught for many years.
He was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, UK, where he obtained his Bachelor of Civil Law (B.C.L.) degree; a Landon Gammon Fellow at the Harvard Law School, USA, where he obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree and a James Souverine Gallo Memorial Scholar at the Harvard University.
He was awarded the Doctor of Legal Science (S.J.D.) by the University of Hong Kong. He also obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of Delhi, India; and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree from the Loyola College of the University of Madras, India.
He has over hundred and twenty five publications to his credit. He has authored and co-edited four books. The prime objective of this interactive session was to make the children aware about the skills required in order to contribute towards nation building. The students listened in rapt attention when they were being exposed to a world where opportunities were galore to fulfill their goals and aspirations. Dr. C. Raj Kumar encouraged the children to think out of the box in order to empower themselves to do something new, so that they can become employers and not employee.
Dr. Ram Singh Principal, DPS, Ranchi was felicitated by the Vice Chancellor in a ceremonial manner with the official scarf of O.P. Jindal Global group of schools. It was indeed a proud moment for the school. Prof. Kumar appreciated the leadership skills of Dr. Ram Singh who has left no stone upturned to provide the students a Global Exposure.
Subh Mishra of class XII asked about the scope of start ups in India and Vaibhav of the same class asked abut the problems faced by Indian students in overseas market. All the questions were given a patient hearing and dealt in a satisfactory manner.
At the end of session the children felt that the session was an eye opener for them as they were exposed to a new works of career opportunities. This session according to them.
Teachers day out for the Teacher of DPS Ranchi
Dr. Ram singh Principal DPS Ranchi is known for his unique and innovative ideas and this year he has proved it once again by organizing teachers’ Day with a difference. The morning began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and garlanding the photograph of Dr. Saravepalli Radhakrishnan which was followed by a short prayer service wherein the Principal greeted the teachers and wished them.
What came as pleasant surprise for all the teachers was that the Head of the institution handed over the charges to the Head – Boy Shubh Mishra of the of the school for a day. It was really a delightful sight to see the pupil teachers leading the children to their respective classes.
The children of both the senior and the junior wing were managed by the respective school appointees of class XII & class V respectively. They took the charges of the entire school with absolute ease. They not only taught different subjects but also engaged the children by conducting extempore, quiz and a plethora of other activities.
While the school was being managed by the students, the entire teaching faculty were out for a movie which again was organized by none other than Dr. Ram Singh.
This was the first time in the history of DPS Ranchi that Teachers’ Day was celebrated in such a unique manner.
This initiative was taken by the Principal of the school who strongly believes that such opportunities will enable the children to not only be responsible but also to learn about the sacrifices involved in nurturing the future citizens.
Finally when it was time to say good bye, the children who were teachers for a day expressed their hearts’ elation and the Head boy Shubh Mishra and Head girl Snidha Chakraborty, said “Now we know what are the ingredients required to make a true Dipsite.
