DPS RANCHI Primary Wing Students Celebrates Earth Day
A special morning assembly was organised by the students of Class IV and II in the premises of Delhi Public School, Ranchi with an aim to sensitize the students towards the role in addressing global environmental challenges at grass root level.
It was a great day to showcase environmental education through a variety of programmes. The school choir presented mellifluous song ‘Earth is my home’ and ‘Save the Cans’ on the occasion. A street play ‘Call of Mother Earth’ emphasized on the increasing environmental degradation and exhorted floura and fauna, banners and colourful charges were put up, reading ‘Go Green’, ‘Plant a tree today’ etc to engage the whole student community in making a difference, students reiterated Do’s and Don’ts for preserving mother earth, speeches were delivered on fast depleting natural resources.
Speaking on the occasion Principal, Dr. Ram Singh said that the Earth Day celebration offers opportunities to both teach about the issue and make a tangible environmental impact.
Students and staff members took pledge during the occasion.
The celebration concluded with the National Anthem and the belief that the students would respect their natural inheritance and be good caretakers of their planet.
DPS Ranchi Conducts SKYPE session with the US Consulate Kolkata
DPS Ranchi is well equipped with all the weapons of success which year after year keeps on passing in succession to its students. The Principal of the school Dr. Ram Singh always has an upper hand in making sure that students always have an array of options before them so that they can shape their future accordingly. One act of such million occasions was a Skype Session which was held on 19.04.2017.
A video chat session was organised in the school to enlighten us and quench the queries related to SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), qualifying which would give students lucrative opportunities world wide. A short question answer session was held in which questions related to application, procedure, financial assistance, practical training opportunities in corporate sector etc. were asked by the students.
Shreyanshi of Class XII asked – after the revision of H1 B1 Viza what should be the concern of an Indian applicant. The resource persons at the other end also spoke about the areas to lay emphasize on. They also said that for comprehension passages related to Economics, Social Science, Pure Science, History, Literature is given. It was also highlighted that for the interview smartness is very important.
At the end the students expressed their heartfelt thanks to their principal for facilitating them with the necessary exposure and an exposition to a plethora for career options in and around the country. Some of them were also of the opinion that Dr. Ram Singh always sees to it that it is never lack of opportunity or prior information that sets us back from the path of success.
Delhi Public School, Ranchi celebrates Earth’s Day
Earth Day was celebrated in Delhi Public School, Ranchi where the students highlighted the importance of the Earth and the need to conserve it.
A brief introduction on the Earth Day was given by Gurmeet of Class XII. This was followed by the thought for the day by Uday Narayan.
The thought focused on the importance of the Earth and that there is an essential need for us to take steps to protect it. After this a group song which aimed at telling how Earth has given us a lot and so it is our moral duty to conserve it was presented. Next, was a speech delivered by Suryakant of Class XII. The speech emphasized on how human activities have harmed the environment and the Earth and it also gave the remedies for it – how we can preserve the Earth. This was followed by a wonderful dance by the students which depicted that the Earth is our mother and it is our responsibility to protect her as we are the defenders of our Mother Earth. Then, head of the institution Dr. Ram Singh planted a sapling which marked the importance of greenery. This was followed by a pledge by the students try their best to save Earth.
At the end the Principal of the school spoke about how children can contribute to save our mother Earth and how vital is the role of students in saving the environment and this can be done only by inculcating certain values at the school level.
D.P.S. Ranchi Pays Homage to the Martyrs of Jalianwala Bagh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar
Delhi Public School, Ranchi drapped itself in the colours of patriotism when it marked the 98th anniversary of the tragedy of Jalianwala Bagh Massacre as a tribute to the martyrs and remind us our duties towards our country. It also celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti with great enthusiasm in order to commemorate 126th birth anniversary of the architect of Indian Constitution, Bharat Ratn Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Students of Class V performed plethora of activities to mark this significant day in history. The festivity started with a dance drama on the tune of ‘Jai Jai Bheem’. The children depicted the flight of untouchables through a short skit ‘Mera Desh Badal Raha Hai’. It was further followed by songs, life history and a street play to spread awareness and stressed on the importance of duties along with the rights.
Principal Dr. Ram Singh said that the students should learn lessons from our history and be proud of our rich heritage. He insisted that patriotism should be instilled in the hearts of students from the young age and the school will recklessly full effort in shaping better citizens.
Students took pledge to follow the principles of messiah of down trodden to rebuild the nation through his slogan ‘Educate, Agitate and Organize’.
World Health Day 2017 celebration at DPS Ranchi
The tiny tots of Primary Wing in Delhi Public School, Ranchi celebrated World Health Day on 07th April, 2017 with a special function filled with activities and programmes and shared their roles to develop a healthy tomorrow.
The celebration was organised with a purpose to develop a sense of healthy life style among students and an understanding through which they can acquire their mental and physical fitness.
Students of Class I drew everyone attention to the subject of major importance – healthy food habits. Students presented a talk show and expressed their views on healthy body and balanced diet. They also prepared lovely cards for their parents with a message to take care of their health. The students sang songs and recited poems emphasizing on healthy lifestyle and abolishing junk food. Children of Class II also presented a colourful programme. They showcased a wonderful dance programme, a group song on the importance of Health and avoiding wastage of food. They also notified dos and don’ts necessary for a healthy life along with pronouncing powerful slogans such as “Eat to live not live to eat”.
The school Principal Dr. Ram Singh was the Chief Guest of the celebration. He enlightened the students with some tips as how to remain healthy. He said “I strongly believe that the greatest gift you can give your family and the world is a healthy you, so make sure you eat a variety of food with balanced nutrient, get plenty of exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle.”
The celebration overall was able to develop a comprehension among children that health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease and we can obtain it with a joint effort.
Workshop on ‘CLASS ROOM MANAGEMENT’
To make classroom teaching more interactive and interesting, a special workshop on ‘Classroom Management’ was organized in the premises of DPS , Ranchi on 29th March, 2017.
The resource person who conducted the workshop was Mr. Kunal Sikri who has an experience of almost nine years spanning 400 workshops in 5 countries. It was a part of a compulsory training programme initiated by CBSE and an endeavor on the part of the school authorities to keep the teachers abreast with latest strategies to manage the 21st century classroom environment effectively.
The workshop focused on the key concern of classroom management, where the resource person discussed and shared the best methods adopted for it and how the best potential of students could be extracted by giving them a congenial and friendly environmental. Mr. Kunal Sikri emphasized on the role of proactive teacher in perceiving and cubing the problems. The workshop addressed queries, giving teachers various practical eye – opening strategies they could use for managing students physical and behavioral patterns.
When classroom management strategies are executed effusively, teachers minimize the behavior that imede learning for both individual students and group of students while maximizing the behavior that facilitates or enhances learning.
Effective teachers tend to display strong classroom management skills i.e
( positive attitude, encouraging statements, fair treatment to the students).
Effective classroom management encapsulates all actions, teachers take to maintain a smooth, focused flow of activity for the purpose of nurturing learners academic and personal development.
Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi remarked that learning is a continuous process which enhances our skills to connect with students and motivate them towards a holistic development of an individual.

Being a visionary he feels that from time to time the teachers need to update themselves and with this idea in mind a workshop for the teachers was organized on 29.03.2017 at DPS Ranchi. The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Kunal Sikri and the topics dealt by hin were physical classroom teaching strategies, teaching students relations rules & procedure.
The seminar began with the welcome of address of DR. Ram Singh in which he spoke about on class room management the importance of classroom management. He feels that it is important for the entire education process to offer students an ideal learning environment.
DPS, Ranchi organised one week excursion trip to Delhi-Agra-Jaipur
Delhi Public School, Ranchi organised one week excursion trip from 21.03.2017 to 27.03.2017 for its primary wing students to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur.
The children beaming with excitement travelled from Ranchi with a team of teachers. They had a great time out of their home town Ranchi with their friends and teacher. They enjoyed watching historical places about which they used to study in their text books.
The bright sun during day time didn’t deter their enthusiasm and zeal during their extensive tour to Agra City.
They were amazed to see the world famous Taj Mahal, the finest example of Mughal Architecture that combines elements from Persian, Turkish and Indian architectural styles. Fathepur Sikri added a great deal to the students’ knowledge of historical background and acquainted with them better with the rich heritage of India.
The trip to Jaipur (Rajasthan) to see India’s true majestic past and feel how the kings and rulers of India used to live was fantastic experience for these kids. Children visited City Palace of Jaipur. Its major part is now ‘Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum’ he was the 10th king of Jaipur.
The entire palace is delicately carved. The students then headed for the famous ‘Chokhi Dhani’ a unique village resort that offered them a blend of traditional and modern amenities in an ethnic environment. The students relished their delicious meal in pure Rajasthani style. they also visited Amer Fort. They experienced Jaipur to a very magnificient city with splendid palaces. Which till date are well preserved.
Delhi, India’s Capital territory, not only well known for a massive metropolitan city but als for its rich heritage. It was the starting and the ending stop for children. They were thrilled to visit Qutab Minar a great masterpiece of Mughal architecture, the India Gate, a war memorial and the Lotus Temple a Bhai’s place of worship. The trip to the above places was much enjoyable and imparted knowledge to the children.
The trip was remarkably memorable experience for the teachers as well as the students. Children enjoyed their independence away from their home. They shared a common sense of unity and love for each other. Surprisingly, the late arrival of the train added to their excitement and joy as they could spend some more time with their friends. It was a proud movement when the teachers heard some foreigners praising the children when they came to know that the students were well versed not only in English but also in other foreign languages.
Educational trips are an enlightenment of one self to achieve maximum benefit in life by using all the senses and bring out holistic growth in a child. This has proved to be true through the excursion. Not only the k ids immensely enjoyed seeing all the places with spring blooms but also they learned about the rich heritage and history of India.
Enriching workshop on phonetics at DPS Ranchi
An enriching two days workshop ( 27th and 28th March 2017) on Phonetics was organised in the premises of Delhi Public School, Ranchi for the teachers of primary wing to shed light on the fruitful aspects of phonetics, phonemes and phonics.
The resource person Mrs. Saswati Nanda Satpathy who conducted the workshop is a renowned mentor of personality development and laurette of phonetics from U.K.
Two days programme comprised of 5 skills of learning phonics through various activities on pronunciation, where the teachers came to know about the production and perception of speech sounds of English. The workshop included activities like interactive sessions and games to enhance the learning process.
Some activities conducted were –
• Vocabulary building games.
• Poem recitations with proper pronunciations.
• Blending the sounds together to read and write new words.
• Pronunciation of words with hand and body gestures.
• Morpheme identification and word segmentation to improve syllabification.
• Learning of 44 essential sounds through interesting word building games and other activities.
The opportunity was given to the enthusiastic bunch of teachers by Principal Dr. Ram Singh who feels that understanding about the term phonetics and knowing about it is of utmost importance and the first step towards spoken English, proved to be quite beneficial for them.
The workshop helped the teachers improve their transcription skills and mastery of descriptive phonetics. They learned about diagraphs and spelling rules and syllabification. The teachers found it to be a great course with an abundance of ideas for active methodology which they were confident to use in their classes quite effectively.
Closing Ceremony of ENCARTA-2017 at Delhi Public School, Ranchi
The week long skill development camp i.e. ENCARTA 2017 culminated with a packed house colourful closing ceremony organised at Vivekananda Auditorium in Delhi Public School on 23rd March 2017. The event was an attempt to develop various skills among the students, aims to provide them a platform to explore their potentials.
About 160 students from class 3 – 8 participated in the skill development drive by indulging themselves in a series of activities ranging from quiz, mental aptitude, soft skills, chess catering to their mental faculty; basket ball, football and youga enriching their physical endurance and overall fitness; to dance and music gratifying their aesthetic. The activities organised their aesthetics; the activities organised were so wholesome that on one hand yoga, sports promotes balanced development of mind body and spirit; on the other hand soft skills, quiz, music and dance helped them to develop their skills associated to leadership, creativity, interpersonal and intra-personal abilities.
Students were excited throughout the Encarta session and enjoyed the process of enrichment, acquiring skills and knowledge in opted areas of activities. Their happiness reflect exuberantly when they shared their experiences. Shiv Ratn of class 7 said that Encarta broke the monotony of stereotype routine of daily studies and helped them to utilize the session end time in a productive way. As Shivangi of class 5 seemed overwhelmed and discussed how she enjoyed the brain storming exercise with a hope that similar initiative of the school may continue even the next year. She also thanked the principal of the school for providing such a platform wherein they experienced the nobility of development.
The students showcased their talent that they acquired during entire sessions of Encarta.
The programme started with a welcome song in presence of the Principal of the school, Primary Incharge, teachers, students and august gathering of parents. It was followed by mesmerizing dance performance of Ganesh Vandana and distribution of ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ among the students.
The principal Dr. Ram Singh addressed the event and thanked the parents, experts and coaches for their proactive approach and to identify, nurture and appreciate the children’s potential and try to develop them. He also said “Children are wonderful creations of god bubbling with energy which should be channelised and be provided a platform to explore their areas of strength and expose them to different situations such that they can acquire life skills”.
Parents too appreciated the effort made by the school to trained the students.
Encarta 2017 thus proved extremely successful to give up to what the school aims at i.e. the holistic development of the children.
Team from Japan at DPS Ranchi to teach TAMAI
Mathematics will no longer be a nightmare for children of Delhi Public School, Ranchi as they will be taught the TAMAI method to solve mathematical problems. A team from KIWAMI conducted a workshop for the teachers taking Maths and Science in classes I to VIII on 15.03.2017. KIWAMI is a Japanese organisation and the team members were from Japan and Delhi to train the teacher about

Mitsuyo Tamai CEO of KIWAMI was the chief resource person. The other members who were there are – Ms. Haruka Takano (Secretary to the Chairperson), Mr. Ken Okamoto, Mr. Toshihito Kakaei, Mr. Koichi Nishimura. Along with them a team from their Delhi office was also present there Mr. Siddharth Marwa (MD), Ms. Ketaki Kapoor (Sales Executive), Ms. Manpreet Marwa (teacher), Ms. Kanika Bhatia (teacher).
Ee Soroban is a unique method used for calculation which would enable children to visualize Soroban in mind. It is also known as imaging calculation because in order to have complete grip over Science and Maths its very important that children should be able to form an image in their mind. This will not only help them to solve problems quickly but accurately as well.
KIWAMI Geometry – Would be useful for children for the perspective of viewing solid objects.
Robotics – this technique would be beneficial for enhancing problem solving skills and time management.
