Mathematics at DPS Ranchi will now be taught using on 'TAMAI' Method of education from Japan
In order to nurture the global citizens of tomorrow, a workshop on TAMAI Method: a well known Japanese style education was organised by KIWAMI – A Japanse organization, having its branches in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Bangkok etc. Students of Primary wing participated in this programme. They learned calculation skills visualization ability, geometric concept that does not rely on formulae.
Chairperson of KIWAI Mitsuyo Tamai herself conducted the workshop. Along with her was Haruka Takano, the secretary, and a team of officials from New Delhi. The workshop aimed to develop a ‘Shape brain’ that does not rely on formulae and train the faculty of imagination. This system allows children to enhance their abilities regard less of their grade in school.
Education system is ever evolving and DPS Ranchi strives to keep pace with it in the benefits of the students. In the absence of in-depth knowledge, subjects like Maths and Science have created phobias in the young mind. Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi the school has taken the initiative to uproot these phobias through such programmes.
Children learnt calculations using Ee SOROBAN. It is a unique calculation method called 'Imaging Calculation' which enables to visualize Soroban in mind. Students watched movies where the calculation is actually performed on a Soroban, which helps them to foster skills to calculate more accurately and quickly.
The children learned construction of shapes visually by watching solids in animation. The ability to be able to visualize the formation of shape is vitally important in solving geometry questions. Further more beautifully designed and exciting animations kept children focused and entertained.
The organization is working wonders by supporting teachers in educational institutions, held seminars and workshop more than 80 times a years all over the world including countries like India, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Singapore and also in Japan.
It helps in enhancing children’s abilities regardless of their grade in school. Cloud based learning program is adopted.
This organization also has a well developed science lab where kinds love science more. This lab is a continuous experience of discovery, thrill and joy where every kid is in a lead role.
Merely learning the concepts is not education. How students apply these operations matters.
Principal, Dr. Ram Singh advocated that the education method should keep evolving to foster children’s abilities and inculcate passion for learning. He said “We are futuristic and we always look forward to provide such opportunities to students which give them a global view. He also said the in this session we had invited the US consul General, organized overseas education fair, some students are also visiting Czech Republic this year for World Debate Competition because our mission is to nurture global citizens.
A one month pilot project for the students along with a traing programme for the teachers has also been scheduled.
Discover Peace and Joy within through SAHAJA YOGA meditation at DPS, Ranchi
A yoga meditation programme was conducted by Sahaja Yoga foundation under the ages of Col. S.K. Kochhar today 31.01.2017 at Delhi Public School, Ranchi for the students where upon children were taught some easy yoga techniques.
Saha Yoga means easy yoga helps to relieve stress and tension and balance our internal energy. It is an unique method of meditation by awakening of Kundalini ( the energy believed to lie at the base of the spine). It incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation and mantras. It also aims at building physical vitality and increase consciousness. Speaking on the occasion Cl. Kochhar elaborated on the immense benefits of yoga for students. Children are always under stress to the speed up lifestyle and pressure of study.
They need to focus on the inner health which is an integral part of their personality. Effect meditation with proper technique can reset the system in a few short minutes. Practice should be regular as children need to be mentally clear. Kundalini practice can boost the brain chemistry and they will be able to perform better in their exams.
DPS Primary Wing students trip to 'Fun Castle'
Students of primary wing had a great day as the school organized a trip to ‘Fun Castle’ for them on 28th January 2017. The trip was a perfect blend of fun, frolic and amusement. Everyone was excited when buses reached the venue. They spent about 3 hours roaming around with their friends and teachers. They enjoyed different rides along with their teachers which gave them a warmth of togetherness. Some of the joy rides they cherished with their friends are – Dragon, Sky Train, Tornado, Catter Pillar, Striking Car and Harakiri.
They had lunch with friends in shades of trees and experienced real life situation of sharing and caring, team spirit and felt the joy of being independent in their life. The day was full of fun packed, adventure for them. It was a whole new experience for them which they will remember for many years from now.
Interactive Session for parents of class PREP at DPS Ranchi
‘Introductory Session’ for the new entrants at DPS Ranchi
Starting school is a major milestone for parents as well as the young new beginners and a start of a new journey for both of them.
Keeping this in view Delhi Public School, Ranchi organised an introductory session for the parents of new entrants in its school premises on 28th January 2017. This was mainly for the parents to understand the teaching methodology implemented in the school. It was a one session program for parent’s comfort. Apart from teaching process, parents came to know about fee structure, school rules and regulations.
The session commenced with welcoming of the parents followed by welcome song by the tiny tots. A colourful and stupendous cultural programme presented by the little ones of class one and two made the audience enthralled.
During the briefing session Incharge of Primary Wing Mrs. Jaya Prasad provided the parents with an insight on the school curriculum. While briefing she laid emphasis that parents should ensure that their wards come to school regularly in neat and clean uniform and their Tiffin must contain healthy and nourishing food.
Principal, Dr. Ram Singh in his address speech welcomed the parents and their children to the DPS community and said, DPS encourages a child’s learning by providing an environment to explore and by encouraging his natural curiosity. He added, even in the crowd DPS students look apart and it is a matter of great pride that DPS, Ranchi has been declared as the 3rd best school of the country and the best school in Jharkhand. Moreover he said DPS is a part of strong and vibrant education system which ensures, every child gets opportunity to thrive, learn, grow and shine.
Parents came to understand and accept that starting school is a part of their children’s long term progression from dependence to independence.
The session provided a platform for the parents to visualize the activities carried in the school. It was for the betterment of their children and was an opening gateway to the success of their tiny tots.
Farewell for Class XII (2016-17)
Hasta La Vista – Until We Meet Again
Today on 24.01.2017, DPS Ranchi organised a grand farewell ceremony for the outgoing batch of students of 2016-17 at the school’s Auditorium with great enthusiasm. It was a memorable day for the children who enjoyed an emotional last day with the school which has left an indelible mark on their entire childhood. The function began with a somber prayer service as is customary. The school choir then performed a melodious rendition of the classic swagatam song. The Principal, Dr. Ram Singh, then addressed the students. He narrated a story to the students about two students of class 6 and class 8. He through the story, emphasized on the importance of being positive. He said, ‘the world may be against you, but it only depends on you how optimistic you are and a negative eye into positive one.’ He also asked the students to hold on to the values ingrained in them in this temple of learning. He wished all the students ingrained in them and asked them never to bow down when faced with obstacles and miseries of life for “Failures are the killers of Success”.
After this followed the cultural programme which included superb dance performances on Bollywood smash hits like Kamli, Kala Chashma etc. Yuvraj Pradhan and Reyan of Class XII also performed dance. They said that it was really a touching moment as the school’s stage was danced upon for the last time.
Then came the most the announcement of Miss and Mister D.P.S. Ritika of Class XII F got the Miss DPS title whereas Pranay Ghosh of Class XII I was Mister DPS.

Then came the most sentimental part for the students. The departing students came up to speak about their experiences. Each one was filled with emotion. They said that they would never forget the days spent in DPS Ranchi. Shubh Mishra the Head Boy of the school said, “I owe a lot to DPS Ranchi especially our honorable principal, Dr. Ram Singh. It is this school which has helped in identifying the immense potential which each student has “He said that he would always keep with him the values which has been taught to him at DPS Ranchi. He thanked everyone for helping him in some way or the other.
Towards the end the Principal told all the students that the gates of DPS Ranchi is always opened for its students and whenever they wish they can visit their alma-mater. With these words the function came to an end with almost all eyes filled with tears be it the students or the teachers.

Students Display Their Athletic Prowess At DPS Annual Sports Meet (Senior Section)
Delhi Public School Ranchi has always been a leading torch towards the all round development of pupils. Keeping in mind these ideals and goals the school organised their annual sports meet for the Senior wing on January 21, 2017 where the students were given a chance to unleash their prowess. Brigadier Sunil Kumar NV (Indian Army) was the Chief Guest for the Inauguration ceremony and Shri Saurabh Tiwary a cricketer par excellence and of international acclaim was the guest of honour. The presence of Shri Upendra Kushwaha, Honourable Minister of State for Human Resource Development (School Education & Literacy) govt. of India added a special touch to this mega event.
The inaugural ceremony commenced to a spectacular start with the rendition of a melodious welcome song by the school choir.
After which Dr. Ram Singh the Principal of the school took the podium to address the esteemed guests, and enlightened them on the need for the holistic development of children in today’s competitive world. He stressed on the importance of the healthy body along with the healthy mind for students to realize their potential.
This was followed by the unfurling of school flag by the chief guest then the school choir took the stage to instill the spirit and aim of DPS with the presentation of the school song. This was followed by the March-Past in which the children of 6 houses Ganges, Jamuna, Chenab, Jhelum, Ravi and Sutlej marched to the precise and excellent beats of the school band.
After this the oath was taken by the students for fair and just meet. The chief guest declared the meet open subsequently. The flame of sportsmanship was set ablaze by Shri Saurav Tiwary and handed over to the athletes of the school.
The cultural events included a spectacular display of yogic posture in perfect synchrony by the students of class VII and the students of class VI were at there agile best while presenting wonderful show of aerobics. Folk dance has always been a favourite for all because of its rhythm and spirit here on the grounds of DPS Ranchi the pupils of class VIII presented a commendable show of folk dances of Kashmir, Punjab and Jharkhand. The love of Jharkhand was brought on the fields by the young Dipsites with their rhythmic movements.
After the dazzling displays the track and field event were held to the cheerful and encouraging responses from the audience. The myriad events which transpire definitely entertained the spectators be it the relay races or the grulling 1500 mts. race.
Brigadier Sunil Kumar N.V. while addressing the students said that let there be no dull boys and girls and each and every individual should be trained enough to get the rightful place in the society he also cited the example of Dhyanchand, Milkha Singh and the likes who have made a niche for themselves in the field of sports. It was also said by him that Aristotle once said children should learn to respect their teachers because those who educated children are more important than those who give them birth. He was full of praise for the head of the institution because of his immense contribution in the all round development of the children and said that he fills proud that his daughter is a part of this prestigious institution and she has more respect for her teachers than parents. It was his earnest request that all the parents present there should give a standing ovation to the teachers and principal of the school because he feels that DPS Ranchi stands much ahead of other schools in all spheres.
Shri S.A. Lathkar, I.G. C.R.P.F. Ranchi was the chief guest for the closing ceremony, Shri Amol V. Homkar, DIG, South Chhottanagpur Range was the special guest and Shri Kranti Kumar Gardeshi, S.P. Special Branch was the guest of honour.
The event came to an end with the prize distribution ceremony, where the victors were awarded laurels for their feats by our esteemed guest Shri Upendra Kushwaha. Honable Minister of State for HRD (School Education & Literacy). He is an Indian politician who has been a member of parliament from Karokati Lok Sabha in Rohtas district. He is also a former member and founder of Rashtriya Lok Samta Party. Shri Kushwaha was state General Secretary in Yuva Lok Dal. Starting off with his career, he was a university professor in Dept. of Political Science in Samta college. He is also associated with CBSE and has inspired and awarded CBSE teachers for their work in the field of school education.
After giving away the prize he congratulated the students for putting up such a colourful show. He also said that the children should be encouraged to take part in different sports events and in the years to come it is these children who will make their nation proud by representing their country at international levels. He said that it is the rule of sports that one who is a loser today might be come a winner tomorrow. Children should keep on striving for success, they should not give up . In his speech he quoted the words of Swami Vivekananda Education is not gathering information but using them to face hardship and challenges in life in the true meaning of education. He also said that the prime minister of India too is concerned about the bright future of the children of our country . According to him it is duty if the teachers to bring out the hidden talent and create opportunities for them.
The annual sports meet was truly a mesmerizing display of extravagant cultural bonanza which was met with great applause. The students set an example for the society as they participated with zeal and true spirit of sportsmanship.

Annual Sports Day Celebrated at DPS, Ranchi (Junior Wing)
Annual Sports Day of DPS, Ranchi had a great start at its school premises on the be right and cheerful morning of 20th January 2017. Chief Guest of the occasion was Shri B.B. Pradhan (DGP, HomeGuard and Fire Service, Jharkhand) and the Guest of Honour was Shri Anurag Gupta (Add. DGP, Special Branch, Jharkhand). Other esteemed guest present on the occasion was Shri Prashant Kumar ¼Municipal Commissioner, Ranchi½
The programme commenced with invocation of welcome song and presentation of bouquet to the esteemed guests. Principal, Dr. Ram Singh extended a warm welcome to the august gathering and said that games and sports are an integral part of student’s life. A sound mind in a sound body is an unavoidable necessity for all particularly for the school going children. Its probably because of self discipline and dedication to excel in sports that brings out the best in students. He highlighted that aim and focus of DPS is to identify inherent potentiality of children and encourage them to participate in all co-curricular activities whole heartedly.
Chief guest unfurled the school flag. Rendition of the school song ‘March DPS March and rhythmic, well synchronized march past by seven houses was followed by oath taking by the participants where they solemnly pledged to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship. Declaration of sports meet open by the chief guest was entailed by lighting of perpetual torch. Speaking on the occasion chief guest said that future of our children depends on parents, teacher grooming sports is a part of physical education which is very important for holistic development of a child. He said sports day in school offers students opportunity to embrace the benefits of sports.
The opening ceremony had a plethora of colourful and mind blowing cultural programme embellishing the occasion. Students of Class III & IV put up a display of patriotic fervour through their astounding dance performance which enthralled the audience. A dance sequence by the students of class I, II & III expressed the true emotions of sports man spirit. It not only boosted up moral strength of the participants but also energized them for the day long events.
The day was filled with exciting events which became victories for some and near misses for others. Series of events, started with ‘Rabbit Race’ and ‘Balancing the Ball’ in which the students of class Prep showed total balance between body and mind. Students of class IV had an event on ‘planting the sapplings’ which gave the message on keeping the environment clean and green. 4 x 100 mts. Relay race of classes IV & V showed the power of team work. The children were excited and its really quite a joy to see how genuine and eager they were to compete or just to cheer up. Some interesting events were scheduled for parents and the teachers like 200 mts. Race, Musical chair to make the show funfilled.
After a hard fought day full of events, result was declared which was followed by over whelming prize distribution ceremony JHELUM house bagged the first prize in March Past and CHENAB house clinched overall championship. In individual student Sumit Nikki Tirkey of Class VC has won maximum medal and choose best player in boys category whereas Maria Princi Christina has won highest medal and selected as best player in girl category.
Lowering of the school flag which marked end of the closing ceremony was done ceremoniously in presence of the Principal and other esteemed guests.
The day concluded with vote of thanks followed by rendition of National Anthem.
Apart from commemorating victories, sports meet aimed at imparting lessons of sportsmanship, discipline and camaraderie to the children.
Historic Meeting with Sonal Mannsingh at DPS Ranchi
The day would be embossed in gold for Delhi Public School, Ranchi as the students and faculty of the school got a remarkable opportunity to welcome the iconic cultural personality of India, ace exponent of Indian Classical dances, Padma Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mannsingh. A multifarious personality who has travelled the world. Dr. Mannsingh has her roots firmly implanted in Indian soil. In her words, “There is no reason to exist without our values, ideals and culture.”
Welcoming Dr. Sonal Mannsingh in the premises of the school, Principal Dr. Ram Singh said that it was a historic moment for DPS Ranchi to have such an inspiring personality to enlighten the students. She has been the founder of centre for of Centre for Indian Classical Dances (CICD), which has been having pupils in various Indian dance forms for last 40 years. She is also associated with the education of poor children. Students of DPS Ranchi welcomed her with a melodious song. Apurva presented a beautiful Sanskrit Shloka which was appreciated by all specially Dr. Sonal Mannsingh. There were series of dance performances by the students.
Pankhuri Jha (X) and Adya Aditi Parida ( VIII) presented Odissi. Rajlaxmi Singh (XI) and Anvesha (XI) danced on the tune of Bharatnatyam whereas Isha Deep (IX) and Suvigya Shree (IX) gave a mesmerizing performance on Kathak.
Dr. Sonal Mannsingh shared some special moments of her childhood. She emphasized on the element of discipline to achieve something great. She talked about the attributes of a ‘Vidyarthi’ and said that ‘Vidya’ is churning of life and its experiences. She gave five very essential rules for each student to follow in his/her life like – “Kak Snan, Bako Dhyan, Shwan Nidra, Alpahar and Grih Tyag” which would make each one successful in their life. She interacted with the students enthusiastically and was elated to answer their questions. Here are some excerpts:
Vidushi -Maam, Please share your experience about your first stage performance?
Ans - I was a born dancer, My first stage performance was in 1961 in Bangalore. Dance
critics used to give their view on the performance. At the first time, Gurus used to induct pupils at their own will, not as per the pupils’ wish.
Sakshi -Maam, have you ever experienced nervousness?
Ans -I never take anything for granted. Creative nervousness should be there.
Aahan -What is the importance of dance in building character or personality?
Ans - Dance gives you a sharp awareness of your body and your movements. Mind is
controlled and body, mind, soul and thoughts find better co-ordination through
Kislaya -What is the difference between foreign students and Indian students that you have
Ans -I have trained many foreign students but I feel it is really difficult because dances
in India are not just physical; there is lot of depth in our culture. So, the transfer of
thoughts and concepts to the foreigners is difficult.
Sakshi - Maam, How can we contribute to our future through dance?
Ans -Through art, we can speak a lot. Dance can contribute to education, empowerment
and enlightenment. We can raise issues related to women, environment etc.
Dr. Mannsingh talked about the essence of India. She said that potential in this country is nowhere to be found. She encouraged the students to respect their culture and traditions as the future is in their hands.
At last she also appreciated the efforts of the principal Dr. Ram Singh as well as the enthusiastic audience who took such keen interest in Indian Classical Dance. At the programme was also present Shri Kamal Modi from Modi Group who expressed his desire to be a Vidyarthi again being in the premises of DPS Ranchi. He also appealed to the students to do their bit for “Beti Bachao- Beti Padhao”.
Zila School Students interact with Dr. Sonal Mannsingh at DPS Ranchi
It was a wonderful opportunity for the students of Zila School, Ranchi to be a part of an interaction with renowned artist in Indian Classical Dances, Padma Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mannsingh at Delhi Public School, Ranchi. She graced the students and faculty with her incredible presence. She talked about Indian values and ideals and said that Indian culture is incomparable. She mentioned the importance of dance in Character building and personality development.
She was welcomed by the Principal of DPS Ranchi Dr. Ram Singh who quoted the day as historic with her remarkable presence.
Students of Zila School, Ranchi got an opportunity to ask some questions from Dr. Mannsingh.
Aman Kumar asked about her feeling on coming to Ranchi. At this, she said she was feeling very nice ans she loves the greenery here.
Ritik Kumar wanted to know about the turning point of her life. Dr. Mannsingh mentioned her Car accident back in 1974 in Germany, where she got a severe spine injury and was told she would never be able to dance again. After 21 days, a doctor from Montreal told her she would be able to dance again and that was the turning point of her life.
