Disaster Management Session at DPS Ranchi
Delhi Public School, Ranchi organized a session on the Disaster Management- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in collaboration with Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on 24th August 2017.
Shri Jata Shankar Chaudhary (IAS Additional Secretary, Disaster Management, and Government of Jharkhand) and Shri Ashok Kumar Sharma (District disaster Management Officer Government of Jharkhand), and Shri Sanjeev Gupta (Inspector National Disaster Rescue Force) along with their NDRF team were present as the resource person for the session.
During this session Shri Jata Shankar Chaudhary informed the students about the different types of natural and manmade disasters and its causes and impact in Jharkhand. The students were also made aware of the disasters in Jharkhand and were educated to face such kind of situations.
Shri Ashok Kumar Sharma shared with the students that how it affects the students and said that a School Disaster Management Plan, School Disaster Aid and different teams should be made in the school for the safety and security of the students.
On the other hand the National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) team of Jharkhand demonstrated the Blood Control, CPR and Lifting and Moving Techniques when disaster.
On this occasion Dr. Ram Singh the Principal of DPS Ranchi said that it is a great opportunity for the students to gather knowledge on the disaster management and be prepared to handle the situation when needed. He also thanked the Disaster Management Team for the demonstrating the students about the several basic techniques of emergency.
Intramural Football Tournament (Finals) Played at DPS Ranchi
Intramural Football Tournament (Boys) final was played in the premises of Delhi Public School, Ranchi on August 25, 2017.
In both Group A and Group B the final match was played between Jamuna and Chenab.
The match played by both the groups was of a cut throat competition. Especially the match played in Group A brought a do or die situation.
In Group A Jamuna House defeated Chenab House by 4/3and in Group B Chenab House won the match defeating Jamuna House by 3/0, registering their victory in the school’s history.
On this glorious victory Dr. Ram Singh the Principal of the school congratulated the winners on their victory and said that it was a great opportunity to showcase the sportsmanship and a great example of team work. He also appreciated the sports department for training the students making them grow into sportsmen.
Full of enthusiasm and zeal the winning teams thanked the principal with whose help they have been provided them with the best infrastructure and training.
Dipsites Qualify for BPMMQ
Competing with 32 teams from schools all over the Ranchi, the dipsites Siddesh Kumar and Manvi Ridhi of class XII won the title of the “Ranchi Chapter 2017”, of the Metal and Material Quiz Competition 2017, held in the RDCIS Auditorium.
The Metal and Material Quiz Competition is conducted by the Indian Institute of Metals. It promotes education ad practice of science and engineering in the field of metal and alloys.
Since last 10years, Ranchi Chapter of Indian Institute of Metal has been conducting this quiz at the regional level. The winning team represents the Ranchi Chapter of IIM at the National Level known as the “Brahm Prakash Memorial Material Quiz” (BPMMQ). Along with it the Ranchi Chapter of IIM also sponsors the winning teams of Ranchi level for their performance in “Brahm Prakash Memorial Material Quiz” (BPMMQ).
This year the BPMMQ will be held on 8th August 2017, at IIM Kalpakka Chapter under the care off Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Tamil Nadu.
Ranchi Chapter of IIM takes lead role in organizing National and International Level seminar/workshop/ conferences/ quiz/ debate etc, in the direction of promoting material science and engineering.
Principal of DPS Ranchi Dr. Ram Singh accolade the nessatelety and the hidden potential of the students and showered his blessings to move ahead. He also wished them luck for their victory at the National level.
Intramural Football Tournaments in DPS, Ranchi
Intramural Football Tournament organized in the premises of Delhi Public School Ranchi. In the football Tournament was played into Group A and Group B. Group A (Senior section) consisted of students of class X - XII and Group B (Junior section) consists of students of class VI-IX.
In the Football Tournament semi final in Group A was played between Jhelum House vs Jamuna House and Ravi House vs Chenab House. In the semi finals Jamuna House defeated Jhelum House by 2/1 and Chenab House defeated Ravi House by 0/1 and qualified for the finals.
In Group B the final match was played between Jamuna House vs Jhelum House and Chenab House vs Sutlej House. In the semi finals Sutlej House defeated Chenab House by 4/3and Jamuna House defeated Jhelum House by 2/0 and qualified for the finals.
Tomorrow Final matches will be played between Jamuna and Chenab in both the groups.
Dr. Ram Singh the Principal of the school congratulats the winning teams said that along with mental ability physical fitness is also important and therefore these activities are important for the students.
DPS, Ranchi Enlightens Students About the deadly App–"Blue Whale"
With the aim to promote a safe and secure educational environment DPS Ranchi organized a workshop on 23rd August 2017, to spread awareness about the “Blue Whale” game which is a major threat to the student’s community.
While addressing the students Dr. Ram Singh the principal of the school spoke about the deadly application and how the children can keep themselves safe from such destructive things. He also said that it is good to be techsavy but we should also know how to use technology in a judicious manner. It was also highlighted by him that students should not use internet without safety awareness or else they may fall prey to illegal activities. Thus, it is important for the school authorities to take firm steps for their well being.
In the workshop the children were informed about the side effects of Blue whale and how children specially the teenagers are blindly following the instructions which have not only resulted to major injuries but also leading to the end of their lives.
The school has been conducting interactive sessions with parents from time to so that they can guide the children and help them to be in the right track. A counselor has also been appointed for the students so that the children do not deviate from the path.
The school authority is constantly in touch with the parents and tries to counsel them so that they can prevent the children from indulging in such activities which can harm them and might lead to their doom. The school aims for overall welfare of the children and therefore the authorities are conscious to sensitize and make the children aware amongst such destructive activities.
At the end of the workshop students shared that they are highly grateful to the principal for making them aware about such destructive activities.
Inter House Football Tournament at DPS Ranchi
Inter House Football Tournament 2017 inaugurated at Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 21st August 2017. The tournament was induced with the hands of the honorable principal of the school Dr. Ram Singh.
On this opening day the Principal of the school encouraged the students and said that, fitness of an individual is important as his mental growth, therefore this day is an opportunity to do so, and showcase their sportsmanship and team spirit. He also wished them luck and said that may the best team win the tournament.
The tournament was organized for the senior section into two groups. Group A consisted of class X to XII and Group B consisted of class VI to IX.
Today in Group A match was played between Jhelum vs Ravi and Jammuna vs Chenab, in which Ravi defeated Jhelum by 6/1 and Jamuna defeated Chenab by 2/1.
Whereas, in Group B the match was played between Ravi vs Sutlej, and defeating Ravi Sutlej won by 1/3.
Tomorrow the match will be played between Jamuna vs Ganges and Jhelum vs Sutlej in Group A whereas, Ganges vs Chenab in Group B.
Inter DPS Dance Competition NRITYANJALI at DPS Ranchi
Delhi Public School, Ranchi under the aegis of DPS Society New Delhi, organized the Annual Inter DPS Dance Competition-NRITYANJALI on 19th August 2017. Kum. Uma Sharma an acclaimed kathak dancer and recipient of the prestigious Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri , Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Sahitya Kala Parishad Award as well as a choreographer of great repute was the Chief Guest for today’s event.
We were also delighted to have Padma Shri Ashok Bhagat (Social Worker), Padma Shi Balbir Dutt [Education and Literature (Journalism)], Padma Shri Mukund Nayak (Jhumar Folk Dance and Song), Parent’s of Padma Shri Deepika Kumari (Sports –Archery) and Padma Shri Simon Oraon (Baba) [Jharkhands’s Waterman], were present as Special Guests.
A special felicitation ceremony was organized for the special guests. Dr. Ram Singh the Principal of the school felicitated them. They were all honored with a shawl and a memento.
The prime aim of such kind of programs is for the holistic development of children and is an unique way of meeting and interacting with the other DPS School which in turn will help to build a strong bond .
The eminent judges for the day were Dr. Malwika Mukherjee (Phd in Kathak & Creative Dance and proud recipient of Jharkhand Pratibha Samman Award) from Hazaribagh, Smt. Rubina Chatterjee (Masters in Bharatnatyam, Odissi & trained Contemporary dancer from London) from Kolkata and Smt. Reshmi Chaudhari (Masters in Kathak and TV actress ) from Jamshedpur.
Dr. Ram Singh principal DPS Ranchi in his welcome address said that that these kinds of competitions give the students a chance to showcase their talent; it also guides and encourages the young artists to peruse a career in the field of dance. He also said that it is through these programmes we can help the children to remain deeply rooted to their culture and tradition. It was also stated by him that it is participation that is more important and not winning.
For this year DPS Society has chosen “Satyamev Jayate” and “Jagriti” as the theme for this competition. More than 14 school from the eastern zone participated in this competition. Each team consisted of 6-9 members. DPS Guwahati, Paradeep Refinery, Bokaro Steel City, North Kolkata, South Kolkata, Dhali Gao, Farakka, Durg, Dhulijan, Asansol, Nazirah, Howrah, Ruby Park, and DPS Ranchi were the participants for this spectacular show.
Every team was given 7 minutes for their performance which included 5minutes of dance and 2 minutes for arrangement and removal of props. The participants were judged on the basis of costumes, props, choreography, synchronization and rhythmic movements.
DPS Ranchi emerged as the overall winner for their unique concept, scintillating performance and agile movements. Through their dance they depicted that it is love, courage, brotherhood and compassion that stays forever, hence we should not create walls on the basis of caste, creed and religion. They were also awarded for best costume. The winning team will be taking part in the national round which will be held in New Delhi. The 1st runner up of the competition was DPS Bokaro and and the 2nd runner up was DPS Ruby Park.
The prize for best props went to DPS Bokaro, DPS Howarah won the prize for best choreography, DPS Nazira for best synchronization, and DPS Dhuliajan for best Rhythmic movements.
The Chief Guest appreciated the brilliant performance of all the schools and said that hard work is the only key to success. She also said that apart from studies cultural activities are also important to remain on the right track on life.
The winning team was ravished by their victory and were of opinion that this competition has not only given us an opportunity to showcase our talent but has also instilled immense amount of confidence in us.
Intramural Badminton Tournament (Girls) at DPS Ranchi
Intramural Badminton Tournament (girls) final was organized in the premises of Delhi Public School Ranchi for students of class V.
In the Girls’s Singles Shambhavi Shreshtha won the match defeating Afia Khalid.
Whereas, in the Girls Doubles the match was played between Trishu and Mannya Raj vs. Alvika Raj and Akansha Kumari , Alvika Raj and Akansha Kumari won the match.
Dr. Ram Singh the Principal of the school congratulated the winners on their victory.
71th Independence Day Celebrated at DPS, Ranchi

Delhi Public School, Ranchi Celebrated the of the country. The Chief Guest of the ocassion was the Principal of DPS Ranchi, Dr. Ram Singh.
15th of August is the day of re-birth of the India. It is the day when Britisher’s left India and handed over the country to its leaders. It is the most significant day in the history of India and celebrated every year with great enthusiasm by the Indian people.
The kite flying sport is quite popular in India which symbolizes the Independence Day. The sky all over India becomes full of countless kites (flown from rooftops) of various sizes, shapes, styles, and shades. At this day, people sing patriotic songs and the kids take a small flag in their hand and say “Jai Hind” and “jai Jawan Jai Kisan”.
The programme began with the hosting of the national flag with the hands of the Principal of the school Dr. Ram Singh. The Principal Dr. Ram Singh payed homage and remembered the freedom fighters. He also highlighted the achivements of the counrty in every field and encouraged the students to achive the same.
The programme continued with the march past in the guidence of the Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl, a poem and a speech on the independence of the country. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by the Head Girl of the school and the cheers of “Jai Hind” and “jai Jawan Jai Kisan”.
Workshop on 21st Century Teaching Methodology at DPS Ranchi
A workshop was organized for teachers of classes III- X, on 21st Century Teaching Methodology, on 12th August, 2017 in Delhi Public School, Ranchi. Dr. Shubhadeep Chakraborty an alumnus of BHU and a celebrated scholar was the resource person for today’s workshop.
The term 21st century learning and teaching refers to the abilities which students should master, such as problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and digital literacy. It also enhances the ability to collaborate, communicate, and demonstrate skills that will help the students navigate their way in the future.
While addressing the gathering Dr. Ram Singh the Principal of the school said that these kinds of workshops have always been a part of the curriculum of the school to enhance the ability of the teachers so that we may provide the students with the best of education. He also said that today globalization has changed the way people live, work and study; hence teachers should always be ready to embrace changes in order to be good teachers.
The goal of this workshop was to assist teachers and mentors imbibe latest techniques like; effective class management, implement technology in learning, foster strong student teacher relationship and being open to changes.
At the end of the workshop the teachers shared that it was a good experience to learn the new methods of teaching and be updated with the new ways of teaching and learning. They also expressed their gratitude to the head of the institution for giving them this golden opportunity. It was also pointed out by the teachers that it was because of his innovative ideas that the school has reached such great heights.
