DPS Ranchi Leaps Forward to Upsurge the Special-Abled Children: Lets Make a Difference!

DPS Ranchi had been a trendsetter and now bangs upon to bestow a special place in your heart for the special-abled children. They need love, encouragement and support and such positive reinforcement which can help them to ensure that they emerge with a strong sense of self worth, confidence and determination to keep going even when things are tough.

DPS Ranchi in association with American Consulate Conduction and Shishu Sarothi Centre for Training and Rehabilitation from Multiple Disabilities organised a workshop for the special-abled children. The first session of the program was conducted on 16th April from 10:30 am to 1 pm. It is scheduled for 6 modules on various dates spanning from April to August. Along with Ranchi, the other zones that connect to this program are Patna, Kolkata, Assam and Shillong. Other than DPS Ranchi, the schools who also participated in this are Bridgeford School, Sachidanand Gyan Bharti Model School and Cambrian Public School.

The agenda of this workshop was to promote inclusion and accessibility of person with disability in education. Inclusion in education means encouraging participation and providing equal rights and opportunities to the disabled individuals in the school curriculum as well as in the society. Attitudes toward children with disabilities, as well as lack of resources to accommodate them, compound the challenges they face in accessing education. Teachers and Students should initiate the process of inclusion in their respective schools and should form SAG (Social Action Group)

For a better understanding of special-abled children and their needs, American Spaces Kolkata gave a power point presentation on what is disability? Along with this, the presentation also helped the students to comprehend about impairment and barriers. It shared the concept of accessibility and inclusion.

India has to develop into a strong country, we have to make sure that all persons have equal opportunities to live a healthy life, get a sound education, have a proper job and lead a good quality of life. Children are going to be the future leaders. It is important that all children receive proper education and enjoy good health so that they can take up the responsibility of running the country in the future. There are many laws which are there in our country which says that all persons including persons with disabilities should get equal opportunities to lead a proper life.

Our honourable Principal Dr. Ram Singh who is actively engaged in philanthropic work and renowned for generosity and commitment encourages this noble step.

D.P.S. Ranchi hosts a Meeting called by Traffic S.P. with Principals of all CBSE Schools

The Traffic S.P. of Ranchi, Mr. Ajit Peter Dungdung called a general meeting of the Sahodaya group of schools, where all the CBSE School Principals were present. The meeting took place on 9th April in the premises of D.P.S. Ranchi. The agenda of the meeting was to discuss and resolve certain traffic issues like the routes diversion, blockage and timings of the buses. In the beginning of the meeting, the Principal Dr. Ram Singh greeted the Traffic S.P. and the fellow Principals. The main concern of the meeting was the construction of the flyover in Kantatoli, due to which that route will remain closed for about 8 months. This will lead to several route diversions and traffic congestions.
The possible routes and various suggestive measures were discussed to keep the traffic hassle-free. The buses running on the Bahubazar and Sujata Chowk route were the main cause of worry for the traffic police. The S.P. along with the other Principals was trying to figure out the possible cuts and diversions as per the ATCS (Adaptive Traffic Control System). He ensured that the traffic department is working very hard and is vigilant through cameras at various junctures so that they can take immediate action against people who are not following the traffic rules.
Some Principals suggested ‘Pragati Path’ to be another alternative for the schools in the outskirts of the city. Mr. Dungdung further informed the Principals about the steps taken by the traffic department to curb the congestion to some extent. He said in no time all the illegal auto stands and vendors will be removed along with the installation of bollards and chains on the main road. Other than that, a coloured portrait map of alternative routes will be shared with all the schools to get a clear picture of the traffic situation.
Our honourable Principal Dr. Ram Singh (Chairman of Ranchi Sahodaya school complex) concluded the meeting by welcoming the suggestions given by the S.P. and the other Principals. He suggested that the issue regarding the construction of the flyover in Kantatoli should be taken as a traffic emergency and all the schools should cooperate with the traffic department and deal with it successfully and smoothly.

With this, the new session begun with immense zeal and enthusiasm in the premises of the school. It was such a wonderful sight to witness their crying faces turning into a smile as the students of Class-I came forward in a consoling gesture. The entrance gate was also beautifully decorated and made the day even more colourful. As the nursery students entered inside, parting from their parents for the first time, it was a treat to see their tears being wiped off by the delicate hands of Class-I students. Not only this, they sang ‘Welcome Song’ and gave gifts to the fresh batch of students. After all, they too recall their first day at school and wanted to make the new ones comfortable.
