DPS Ranchi Hosts Substance Abuse Awareness Program in Collaboration with Jharkhand Education Project Council and CINI

Description: In a significant step toward building a healthier and more informed future generation, Delhi Public School Ranchi, in collaboration with Child in Need Institute (CINI) and with support from Jharkhand Education Project Council, Ranchi organized a comprehensive awareness program on the ill effects of substance abuse and intoxication. The event served as a dynamic platform to educate students about the psychological, social, and neurological consequences of drug misuse and the importance of making informed life choices. The session was enriched by two distinguished experts in the field: Mr. Subhadeep Adhikary, with over 14 years of experience in the development sector, currently heading the Child Protection Portfolio at CINI – Jharkhand Unit. He has a postgraduate degree in Social Work and has played a crucial role across India in promoting education and child protection and Ms. Sangeeta, a Mental Health Professional (Psychiatric Social Worker) and PhD Research Scholar at Ranchi Institute of Neuropsychiatry and Allied Sciences (RINPAS), brought valuable insights on mental health issues among children and adults. Her research focuses on the perceptions and experiences of transgender individuals regarding mental health services. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jaya Chauhan, Principal of DPS Ranchi, said, “Education is not just about academic excellence—it is about building responsible citizens who can make wise choices. At DPS Ranchi, we are committed to nurturing not only minds but also hearts. This awareness program is a reminder that every child has the power to say no to substance abuse and yes to life. Together, we must empower our students to be change-makers in their own lives and in society.”
